Whos excited for the new EG movie?!! · 8:08pm Jul 7th, 2015
I got this yesterday, yay.
Now to find the time to actually watch it.
I FINALLY WATCHED FRIENDSHIP GAMES
That header really speaks for itself. Yeah, yeah. Call me a scrub or whatever. I have no excuse. Due to a combination of busy and apathy (and refusing to until I'd finished S5, which I did a couple months ago, so I could see FG in its proper position in the timeline – kinda like EQG1 and its prequel comic), I did not watch Friendship Games. Until tonight.
Thoughts below the jump.
So I've spent all month working on a story collection called Fast Times at Stinky Sugar, sixteen shitfics (and one good fic, still being finished) dedicated to mocking FG and making me look like I have a terrible obsession. Unfortunately, by the time I actually finish it, it won't be relevant in the least anymore and all my (mostly) hard work will have been for naught. My apologies to fans of Epic Unicorn History. :(
Okay.
Bit of backstory on this.
I'm sitting there, watching the first five minutes of the movie, when I get to the title screen. But then, I have to leave for a violin lesson. The scenario I had come up with for what would happen next in the movie was infinitely better than what actually happened, to the point where I decided to expand it into a full idea.
In this world, human twilight doesn't go to crystal prep. She works for the government.

Yeah, Sunset wondering which world she should be in was an entire subplot they cut. I question this highly.
5:10 - Ship it like FedEx
In the aftermath of the Friendship Games, the Mane Seven find that they can increasingly Pony Up on demand. They also start spontaneously showing Equestrian-style powers (e.g. Rainbow can manipulate the weather in localised areas and cloud-walk; Applejack has super-strength; Fluttershy starts hearing her animal friends talk back; Rarity develops telekinesis and an 'instinct' about the location of minerals in the area around her; Twilight starts spontaneously doing magic; Pinkie

Hello!
Happy days! After over a year on the site and six different stories, I have finally hit the 5000 story views mark. (5007 at the time of this writing, to be exact.) For a high schooler kept busy between quiz bowl teams, musicals and marching band, this feels like an accomplishment. It's nowhere near the readership of some writers, but it's a step in the right direction.
Having seen the deleted scenes of the "Friendship Games" on Youtube, here is my opinion.
The Old Timeline's version retains the sub-plot of the Pony Sunset beginning to feel homesick and so the duet version of "What More is Out There," her talk with the Pony Twilight and the Rainbooms, and the Alternate Ending is kept. The New Timeline has the current released version.
Thought I'd try and revive these monday blogs I used to do.
So how about those last two weeks? We've had three Rarity episodes in a row all of which were fabulous.
The movie has its problems.
The villains are under developped, forgettable, one dimensional jerks and I just don't see the point in them.
Josh Haber, I must tip my met hat to you. I know I gave you a hard time back in Season 4, but you've really turned yourself around here.

Yep, I just got finished watching the live stream of Friendship Games. Again, reviewing is not really my thing, but I cannot stay silent about this. So, what's there to like about this one?
1. Human Twilight
Fic prompt - Pinkie Pie and Bon Bon are rival secret agents. Writers, make it happen!
Hello!
Now that we've gotten the usual formalities out of the way...
He's mine. I hereby dub this overshadowed background character "Slide Whistle". I shall expand his character, and write a story about his role in the Equestria Girls universe. Also, he needs more fan art. Heck, the rest of the band needs more fanart! I would do it myself, but my drawing skills are limited.

Spoilers popping up everywhere.
On first watch I liked this less than Rainbow Rocks, but on seeing some reactions and further viewings I have come to enjoy some of the implications that this movie brings up more. The plot and pacing still aren't at the same level as in Rainbow Rocks, but the character development for those characters on whom there is focus, as well as the animation and effects, are superb.
I think this is the best EQG movie thus far. It had some stuff that felt pretty dark, and I would probably watch it again. That's all I'm going to say so I don't spoil it for anyone.
