When I first saw True Grit not long after its release, I didn't quite understand it. Here was a film that seemed to be a straightforward revenge tale, but with an ending that, at the time, seemed a bit of a downer. However, I have now revisited the film, and have done so with a far better knowledge of the style that the Coen Brothers have carefully cultivated, and now I can say that I have come to an understanding with the film, and in doing so, have found yet another excellent western
Yet another small review 'cause I'm late for it and that's all I think I should say about this episode, btw. Next week's normal with an AJ episode! Yaya!
LORD OF SPOONS
WARNING! I WILL BE DISCUSSING SPOILERS FOR THE MOVIE IN MY REVIEW! YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED! SO HOLD ONTO YOUR PONIES! (I GOT THIS FUN LITTLE PHRASE FROM THIS VERY FUN REVIEW OF THE MOVIE. THIS ALSO HAS SPOILERS AS WELL.)
You know Equestria must be one of the slimiest places to ever exist. Way too many of the residents there use their mouths to do things. Seriously, it's pretty gross when you think about it.
So yeah, after catching this on AMC about two or three years ago, I stumbled across The Departed on the HBO Go app (which I love, thank you HBO).
Anyways, I used this as an opportunity to reintroduce myself to the film, and suffice to say, I did enjoy it.
Honestly, this special just reminded me why, for the most part, I've never got as invested in EqG as I have in FiM.
State of Play, the 2009 cinematic adaptation of the 2003 BBC One miniseries of the same name, is a film that has an ambitious, complex plot, some solid performances from it's cast, but in the end, stumbles over itself by trying to make a story built on shades of gray, into something more black and white, and therefore suffers.
Whelp, now Lil'pip is out of the Stable and we get a damn good introduction to just how different, how alien, this world is to the one she knew. Not so much in the detail, in what we see, as much as the way it all hits her, the sensory overload, the overwhelming feeling of it all for her. Everything she goes through, probably in the space of a few minutes is pretty much what you'd expect from anyone in that situation, even the bouts of agoraphobia. IMO, the time spent detailing just how
Now the conclusion to this unexpected two part ep featuring the shorts for Friendship Games and all the insanity that ensues!
So, I was staring out into the void of space recently and a few things occurred to me. What? The void is lovely this time of year. Though if you really want to see it in all it's splendor you have to check it out during that period between Iceland's Whit Sunday and Monday. Obviously it doesn't last very long but you do come away with some insights none-the-less.
Well there might not be any masked killers as Camp Friendship but there is one serious buzzkill
So before we get to the reviews, a little announcement. I fear I am slowly approaching a financial crisis, and if things don't turn around at work within the next two or three weeks then I may have to take extreme measures. To try and pad this situation, I've finally caved into my friends' suggestions and started work on a Patreon. It's not ready yet, but I wanted to go ahead and let people know that it's coming and I will appreciate whatever help can be offered. I'm trying to think on rewards
