Mansion Challenge Submission: Both Teams Edition!
Nova mumbled to himself as he let the great doors of GOB Mansion swing open before him and his companions.
“I should NOT have let you have that much to drink, Spark…”
Before we get started, I want to explain how blogs like these will play out. It'll be written somewhat like an episode, with both submissions from each team being posted here for you all to read and finally a bit written by me to tie the two pieces together. In this blog, it will describe each character meeting one another and arriving at GOB Estate with GOB himself explaining how things will work for the contest. I hope you enjoy it.
#Shrekt's submission:
What Wouldn't You Do For 800,000 Dollars?
Let's just say someone, hypothetically speaking, walked up to you and said they would give you 800,000 dollars with the condition that you would have to pass a series of 'tests' or 'challenges' to get the money. Think Fear Factor, but a lot darker (potentially).
The challenges would range from eating bugs to sleeping in a room filled with spiders to...perhaps even more sinister things.
Writing good fiction is challenging.
Then again, writing fiction is challenging in general... but for even more reasons.
Recently and unfortunately, certain people, I won't say any names, got into a heated argument resulting in one dropping out due to hateful words being traded. The person who said those harsh words was dealt with and has been punished. Prior to this, another player has dropped out of the contest willingly. Gumball2 has left the game. The list below consists of the remaining competitors and their OCs.
Cambiato
(First Spark)
The Fan Without a Face
(Coalstone)
I'm happy right now. I managed to pick up a copy of Pokémon Sun last night (just barely managed to get it on its release day) and chose the adorable and awesome Grass type owl, Rowlet, as my first partner.
Last time, on the OC Apprentice; the contestants finally arrived to the GOB Manor and eventually met GOB himself. Coalstone tried to attack the God but was instead kicked to the curb. GOB gave them all the scoop on what will be happening in the future and wished the players luck. Since then, the contestants have been getting comfy in their new home. Some more comfy than others…
#Shrekt's Submission.
Okay, since I can't find the submissions sent to me and frankly I have zero energy to go looking for them, I'm just gonna recap what happened.
While her submission was probably the most entertaining, Cambiato COULD have made off with a win, but has decided to drop out of the contest.
The Fan Without a Face easily came in second with a pretty impressive show of his work AND a great character arch along with a deepening relationship between Coalstone and Sentinel.
Ways to un-stick a stuck story by firemoon42
• Do an outline, whatever way works best. Get yourself out of the word soup and know where the story is headed.
• Conflicts and obstacles. Hurt the protagonist, put things in their way, this keeps the story interesting. An easy journey makes the story boring and boring is hard to write.
Where we last left off, the contestants were turned back into children and were sent back to high school as freshmen. All except one; Nova Blaze. Here, the five children reenact The Breakfast Club.
The freshman sat in silence as they all sat rigid in their seats. The “detention room” was empty, save for them, and was all too quiet in general. The noise was broken quickly as the sound of squeaking shoes could be heard coming towards them.
Happy Labor Day, Y’all!
Here in Americaland, we set aside the first Monday in September to celebrate the working mare man. Also in Canada, incidentally; much of the rest of the world celebrates on May 1.
It’s no coincidence that all four of the stories I published over the weekend feature working mares and stallions.
Team Illuminati's submission:
The team was sent to a small town in the human world nestled between a couple mountains. A beautiful rural town with friendly locals. GOB had told them that the reading would be at the town’s library.
The three entered the building to see the children waiting around a chair. They looked eager to hear the story they were promised.
“Alright, Sentinel you’re reading right?” Reneighah asked.
Bet you can't!
