1257093 Solomani. The way you know you've been playing too much Traveller 5 is when you instantly think "Solomani" or "Terran" instead of "human from Earth"
1257191 I was actually thinking of The Moon is a Harsh Mistress when I made that comment. I seem to recall that Lunatic was used as a slightly derisive slang term for people of Lunar extraction. There was also a newspaper mentioned called The Daily Lunatic if I am not mistaken.
Reclaimer and Ape come to mind on the top of my head, and so does Homo-Sapiens but for that, I have a whole set of different kinds of Homo-Sapiens I listed here. Don't know if that helps in any way but it's still here if you want it.
1257201 That is also a good analogy if there's nothing to compare a human to, since I haven't seen any apes in the MLP series yet. In my story, the human was first described as a fleshy, scale-less dragon.
1257093 Terran for humans that live on Earth. I use other names for humans born on other planets, but all call themselves humans. Thought he government is called the 'Terran Federation'
This mainly applies to science fiction stories.
Do any of y'all use other names for Humans?
Personally, I'm fond of "Terran". It's a science fiction classic.
"Earthling" is a term I'm not fond of. It sounds condescending and besides, it makes me think low budget 50s sci-fi B movies.
Would homo sapiens count?
Yeah, Terran is pretty awesome.
Homo Sapiens
Tau'ri
The superior race
Those are just a few.
Reclaimer, Ape, Beings, Human Beans. Thats all i got i of the top of my head.
Terran works, you could also call us Solarian, after Sol our sun.
Would someone from the moon be called a lunatic?
1257093
The best I've seen in an HiE was 'tree ponies.' Can't remember the source.
I've also heard them all called 'Meghans,' but that'd be a stretch for anything that isn't a comedy.
You could go the Fifth Element route and call them 'meat popsicles.'
I guess I don't have much in the way of useful answers, sorry.
Earthens
Earthans

I suppose you could also use the traditional "man" or "mankind." It's even got historical precedent.
1257093 Fucking Awesome, is one you could use.
Solarites, Solarans, something like that.
1257116, Heinlen used the term "Loonies" in The Moon is a Harsh Mistress.
I'd probably refer to someone from a lunar colony as a "Lunarian" or "Lunestian" or maybe even a "Selene" or "Selenians".

Seriously, I like terrans, although I use homo sapiens more often.
1258710 I use that one for my story.
Lantians is another.
1257093 Solarian, being the one I just made up (probably saw it somewhere else, first though), as in: solar system-borne human.
