October 2020 Update · 1:27pm Nov 2nd, 2020
It's already November for the whole world, so it's about time I provide a little update for October.
There was the release of the "Pluto Charon" short story now known as Heat Death for Two, and I dare say that it went pretty well. No spoilers here though!
Aside from that, progress is going well for the As Flies, are We sequel (whose working title Their Darker Purpose has been changed to its final name which I'll reveal soon). I am done with all but the last stage of revisions. After that, there'll be quick grammar checks with my grammar-checking browser add-on, setting up the Fimfiction page for the story, and then making cover art, and then it's golden! I'll say it'll appear within the month or very early December at worst.
What have I read? A lot and it's a doozy to keep track of them all. Here's the few I'll go from the top of my head:
Antiquarian's Worth Fighting For. A short and succinct post-war story and not much else I could say about it without giving out spoilers. Just take my word for it.
Admiral Biscuit's Celestia Sleeps In. While I understand that this is the first of a trilogy, I don't have plans to read the sequel anytime soon (partly because it's very long, partly because it's incomplete). Still, it's an amazing read as a standalone, and the writer has clearly shown his research with this along with his worldbuilding chops.
Hiver's Responsibilities to continue my journey into the Blank Page Saga! It's slice of life fun with a bit of political education in there too.
Ninjadeadbeard's Home Again. This is a special case to mention because he's given me especial thanks for the use of some characters I've made, and now it's all come full circle because a year after its publication, I've read it in full and I'd say: special thanks to Ninjadeadbeard for this story (and for portraying my characters better than I did back in the day).
- Peregrine Acland's All Else if Folly: a World War I-set story, one among quite a few (like Ernest Hemmingway's Farewell to Arms) to help me get in the right mindset for revising that Crystal War story.
That would be all for now! Hopefully, this month will end with a bang with the release of the As Flies, are We sequel.
May you have a good day ahead!
