Honestly? It was a lot of fun to read. I mostly just read stories from authors I know or from the Featured Box. It was certainly a rather unique story with a very different take on Time Travel. I can see why they would feature such a thing.

Perhaps this is a sign to write less clop....?

Also I would say that the Feature Box DOES tend to reward authors for writing something that is different. If you're doing something no one else has...ESPECIALLY Non-Fanfiction....then you are a lot more likely to be Featured it seems.
