    Do not adjust your sets

Hey all, sorry but this isn't Rust.

This is Handyman speaking, for those of you who don't know, I'm that guy who writes that fic with that other guy who does the things. Those of you who aren't laughing at the fact I now have an account with a batpony avatar, you have no soul and your first born child will be ginger.

I finally got off duty. So that's been over two days straight of non-stop calls, rain, falling trees, snapped power lines, and old people complaining about their candles going out.

I have never been so tired in my life.

My gear is soaking wet, streaked with dirt and smoke and grime and engine grease, and smells like two NFL linebackers decided to have a vigorous sexual encounter all over it, and not clean up their leavings. The Applejack sticker on my helmet is looking a bit worn from all the nervous rubbing I've been giving it. I have a cracked rib, my hand was smashed by the flat of an axe, and I can't hear a specific tone (the signal for a call) without involuntarily flinching.

At least the power's back on.

And then, when I finally walk out of the fire station to drive home, I find that my car has been hit by my friends for Cabbage Night - you know, the night before Halloween that we go out and wreck shit? My car was covered in saran wrap, pink leopard-print duct tape, silly string, and pictures of ponies that were drawn with window marker. My friends know I'm a brony, and they drew a massive stick figure "Pinky Pie" on the hood. I give them an E for effort. It made me laugh quite a lot, and cheered me up immensely. They are very lucky I have a sense of humor.

I'm going to sleep, now. Good night.

I just have to ask: What is it with East-America and hurricanes? :rainbowhuh:

Godspeed, you magnificent bastard.

Ow...
I feel the need to say more in response, but I don't know what. :applejackconfused:
Well, I hope you feel better.

Can you take a picture of your car, or have you already cleaned it up? I'm sure we'd love to see it. :scootangel:

All my respect man, all my respect.

I demand pictures of this car! Post them.

Sleep well my friend, you deserve it:pinkiehappy:

I forget the exact meteorological reason but its something about how the jet streams go from east to west. Which is why the east coast of Asia gets hit by storms every now and then.

I'm also surprised the fire station isn't flooded.

Tim

463815 Well, I guess I'm lucky that I live in Middle-Europe. Sounds like you need more very high dikes (though I'm not even sure that would help). :twilightsheepish:

Should you be up to sharing, I'm curious; what's your incentive for being a firefighter? Especially when your recent injuries are a very real possibility on any call and you need to go out in even those severe conditions to assist others? Are you just that nice of a person, trucking on just for the thanks and well-wishing from the people you help? Assuming you get any thanks at all?

Man, you guys had it rough. Ye Gods, mate...

But hey. At least you did make it back. And a lot of people are probably grateful for what you did.

You get some well deserved rest.

I was actually kind of worried for ya mate. Glad to hear you're (relatively) okay, and I salute you for all your excellent work during the crisis

You, sir, are a true hero. Thank you for your service to your fellow countrymen. You deserve your rest.

Glad you're home safe bro, careful with that rib :twilightoops:

I'll see about getting the first chapter of my new story out today for ya

Glad to know you're alright and the ones you helped are as well.
Good luck with your further endeavors.
-Sturrn

I live near Buffalo, and we had it easy here, as opposed to 6 years ago. Very glad I didn't have to deal with all the hassle this year. Now, the only thing to do is have a beer and kick back.

Glad to hear you're safe and sound. Clearly the car decoration needs to be documented and shared through photographs.

Good for you sir!

Take care of yourself man, get some rest, and sweet dreams of season 3.

:ajsmug:Brad good luck, ma cousin is ovah deah in boston.

Well for once I am glad to live in western canadia. Woo.

But seriously recover soon. Crushed hands suck. How did that one happen.

Well... Honestly I don't know what exactly should I say so I'm just going to say banana :trollestia:

And good luck.

463783 It all started with.. 'You ain't got the balls, nature.'.. And has escalated since.

Good to know there were people like you out there looking out for them, that being said take some R&R you deserve it!

glad to hear your safe

Glad you're safe, my friend. It wasn't nearly as bad around where I am in NY (an hour south of Albany), but we still had trees and lines down too.

Also, devising a quick fic dedicated to you set somewhere down the line of Legend as a sidefic. Hopefully it'll give you a laugh.

I'm proud of you. Not only do you write amazing stories, you sacrifice your own time, safety and mental stability to the disasters such as Sandy and old people complaining about candles.

I salute you. :ajsmug: :rainbowkiss: :rainbowdetermined2:

They losed down all the schools where I live... And it didn't even rain. :rainbowlaugh:

Anyway, have a good rest, you deserve it.

sounds like a job i had at a BSR once.

worth it.

You've more than earned a break, Rust. Take it, by all means.

Why am I a firefighter? Good question. Really, I originally joined up because i had always been a childhood dream of mine to be one (as I think it is for most young boys) and I suddenly realized that I could actually do it. I had the time, the desire, and the ability. So I got up off my ass and made something of myself, and fell in love with the profession in the process. I think that once I'm out of the Navy, I'd like to be a career firefighter.

Anyway, it shocked me at first how much respect we get. I've been hollered at, honked at, shaken hands with people I've never met before, and even catcalled by random soccer mom MILFS (no, I'm serious, it happened, I got their numbers). I didn't start this for the gratitude people give me, but it certainly helps keep me doing it.

In short, yes. I am just that nice of a person. I enjoy helping people, especially when I get to help them by doing this.

Once I pull myself away from Assassin's Creed III, I will devour your literary genius, Cloud. BTW, nice 8-bit avatar. Very retro. Ain't no school but the old school, as I always say.

464556
Oh, you. What benevolent action did I ever commit to deserve your random acts of splendiffericiousness (that's a word now, deal with it)? I look forward to taking a look-see. Hang loose, brother.

well, I have to say that you are part of the one percent. I'm working hard to get there, but highschool is a major drag. Anyways, I might dabble in the volenteer forces. Ill have to hit the gym again though, haven't played basketball in 8 months or so :p

anyway, best of luck to you. Get that rib and hand healed up soon, too.

465307 Most excellent, dude. It's nice to be reminded that there are such good people out there... ugh, the cliche, BUT YOU'RE WORTH IT! PLEASE KEEP WRITING, YOU MAGNIFICENT HUMAN BEING!

You are an amazing person; I have renewed faith in humanity.

Good to know Rust's tussle with the aftermath of hurricane Sandy hasnt dulled his sense of humor

*Chuckles* linebackers...:rainbowlaugh:

465307 Thanks. Tis Cloudhammer the OC holding his first fanon grandfoal, Peony Sky

Sounds like you did a damn fine job.

Glad to have you back Rust.

Tired, sore, bruised and worn out. But did a damn fine job of making sure all sanity was maintained over there. Still reeling from the aftermath photos of Sandy's destruction. Its like the earthquake/ tsunami in Japan all over again :/

Wow go dude sounds like you a horrible time and kicked its ass way to go.

Dig

Well done, sir. Despite not knowing the severity of Sandy, being in Australia, I salute you.
