These images legit have nothing to do with anything (and I realize that some of you will think that I'm trolling you, but I'm not). Just to pass the time while I finish editing the last chapter on the FNFE "A Trip North" arc and more importantly the blog post . . . which will probably be published rather late tonight (likely, three to four more hours).

It does also give me the opportunity to ask a question. One that doesn't need answering right away, but something that I've been turning over in my mind for a couple of days and have come to no solution.

I need a pony name, and it needs to somehow tie in with the word "Haul."

Also, I'll just put this out there, if anybody wants a 2002 base model Impala cheap, one that hasn't been driven in almost two years, has a bazillion miles on it, and smells like mouse pee, I can hook you up. It's silver.

Long Haul wouldn't be a bad name.

No corn, then? Next I suppose you'll tell me you haven't made love to that machine...

In any case, we have Long Haul, Big Haul, Haulin' Oats, Study Haul (the intellectual of the family, who tends to take his library with him,) Hee Haul (the party pony)...

I could go on, but the question is whether I should.

Are pun allowed, or is it strictly haul?
I migth brainstorm while I cook my dinner, it's a good time to let the mind wander anyway.

Somehow my mind came up with Haulellujah and that's really dumb

Usually for dumb pony names recently I've been trying the RhymeZone Related Words pages; I don't think that gets anything too good here. Just the generic descriptive adjectives, Long Haul, Free Haul, Small Haul, Slow Haul...

Long Haul
Vibrant / Impressive / Massive / Great / [adjective] Haul
Keel Haul (ARRRRRRR!)
Prentice Haul (heh... spelling dun't kownt)
Haul Away
Logger Haul
...
Over Haul (oh come on... you KNEW that one would have to hit a mechanic eventually)

I mean, you've got a lot to work with. And then, you have the nonsense names that are just slapped together like:

Haul Locktug
Haul-lellujah
Haul Ass
Hauller Atme
Hauller Atchu
Von-Haulen
etc...

edit: And while I was typing this, a number of these same suggestions were given out by other incredibly dapper-looking and entertaining individuals of good taste.

My vote goes to Haulin’ Oats.

Freight McFluffinstein :trixieshiftright:

The steam pump and winding gear engineer, Haul 9000? :pinkiegasp:

Haul o'Fame
Haulloway
Colden Haulfield

Haul Toupée - travelling wig salespony

Monty Haul?

Short Haul
Over Haul(he-he)
Night Haul
Heavy Hauler
Steady Haul
Cheap Haul

Thanks for the Impala offer but I trying to get shed of some of my own rodent filled vehicles. ;p

Haul-a-Day

Monty Haul. Also an overly generous gamemaster in his O&O campaign in his spare time.

BEHOLD! I GIVE YOU, PONIES!

Does it have to contain haul, or just be related?

Because "Come Along" would be a good name for a pony who hauls. :twilightsmile

edit: uhh. Cloud Kicker just sprayed orange juice all over my living room and I re-read that. ...just what kind of story are you writing? O__O

Haul Azure. :facehoof:
Under Haul, Over Haul (ops - Olden Bronie got that).

I rather like Miss Haul-o-way. It sounds like Hathaway.

4891371 Haulin' Oats!

If you're looking for some synonyms, Tug is also a good one. Or Tow.

The Haul-inator

Wow, y'all are full of ideas!

I can't use Haulin' Oats for reasons which will be apparent once the story is eventually published . . . I think that was the most often suggested name. I think overall I'm leaning towards Long Haul, so thanks to everyone who suggested it. If it turns out she has any brothers or sisters with related names, I'm also good to go (or for that matter, co-workers or friends with related names that aren't actually related to her).

Also, Colden Haulfield is both a brilliant and terrible suggestion.

That is amazing in so many ways.
