Cancelling The Enchanted Carousel, restarting as a new story

    Hi all!

I've already made the announcement in other places, so I figured I might as well do it here, too, to cement the change.

    Hiatus on Story + Thoughts

    Hi all!

Just letting you know this story will be hiatus'd for a bit.

Not because I'm not writing anymore, but because life got in the way so I wasn't able to finish it all in a fugue state as I wanted, and the reality is right now... I am not in the headspace necessary to write it.

Though, since I'm not doing that, I do at least want to talk about it.

    Okay, here we go.

As some folks may know or have seen, I'm currently working on a story that is very important to me. It is still not finished, and will likely be updating in the next following days because I want to write it and get it done in one go.

    Quick Note re: contacting me!

    Hi all!

    I hope you're doing well.

I've been meaning to say this for a while, but keep forgetting because my life has been a dumpster fire for the past year, but I did post a fic today so now's a good time as any!

Re-uploaded Someone To Hold On To as a complete oneshot

    Hello!

Just wanted to get ahead of any confusion for anyone following this story to say that I ended up doing a speedrun of the entire thing and then deleted the old chapters and just posted the entire complete story as a new chapter.

    That was it.

I hope you have been well!

TELENOVELA!AU - PART 2 · 6:27pm Feb 22nd, 2018

I accidentally continued this in a discord server SO HEY I FIGURE I SHOULD POST IT

Here's Part 1 so we're not all lost.

Monodramatic

so
El Magno and Luz Nocturna reconnect

Monodramatic-Today at 9:30 AM

and Luz learns that Magno is dying
and Magno in turn confides that his daughter, Rareza...

She is losing her way
she no longer pays attention in church
she is distracted with these silly dreams
and she is starting to do badly in college

to which Luz Noctura says
to his good friend
his master, but his friend, the lord of the land,

that his daughter, Twilight, well..
she has no college education, but she is smart
she is smart as the land which they live upon
smart and resourceful
maybe she could help Rareza

and Magno
who is dying
cannot say no to his good friend

-

it's hard for Rarity
it's hard for her to take classes

"With the librarian's daughter?!" sneers Pulso Diamante. "Is she even smart?"

"Rareza, there are better people out there to teach you!" Esplendida Joya insists. She then grins and adds, "Like Sangre Azul..."
Rarity swallows

Blue Blood?
No thank you.

"I think she should try," a soft-spoken voice chimes in and so does Rarity turn to Aleteo timido. "Twilight is smart."

The two other girls roll their eyes at Fluttershy
But Rarity doesn't
that is perhaps the worst of it all

she remembers Twilight
she remembers their childhood
where Twilight would read her fantastic stories as they had picnics in the meadows behind the hacienda

she sees Twilight Sparkle now as the daughter of the local librarian, a girl who wears ragged clothes and hand-me downs

but she remembers Twilight Sparkle as a child, a girl who was not limited by her imagination

A girl who spoke with such passion, Rarity was always inevitably drawn to her even as her parent's friends whispered about the impropriety of it all

she shakes her head
those are memories long gone

"my father's the one who made the choice" she says
and then she laughs, and it feels fake, it feels wrong, like so many things in her life do,
"it's only one class"

-

the summer breeze wafts in through the window
the rays of sunshine filtering in and illuminating the grand dining room
where Rarity sits with books and notebooks, pencils and papers
and anxiety
...and even if she will not admit it
excitement

"Is Twilight really coming?" asks Dulce Bella, peering at her elder sisters books

"Yes," Rarity says, and she remembers the times Dulce would join them in their childhood, the little picnics the three of them had

she remembers that time that Dulce fell asleep on the blanket they'd spread out
how she and Twilight sat together
she remembers
the silence
two children comfortable together
and even if shes tried to forget
she remembers Twilight timidly taking Rarity's hand in hers
the nervous breath that followed
and then Rarity scooching over and resting her head on Twilight's shoulder
in this silly moment where social classes did not matter
where they were nothing but two girls a year away from adolescense
two girls who knew they were best friends

"Hermana?"

Rarity shakes her head, brought back to reality
her heart beating

"wh-what?" she asks

"She's here!" Dulce exclaims, and Rarity's heart hammers in her chest

she hears voices
strong and deep
her father and twilight's father
and soon enough the grand oak doors open, as heavy as ever
and the two men step in
and behind them

behind them is Her

and for a moment Rarity again thinks
that she's beautiful
even in hand-me downs, even clutching her book like a frightened animal, Twilight Sparkle exudes a confidence and intelligence like no other in that forsaken town

the introductions are brief
and awkward for rarity

her father does not know how Rarity shunned Twilight away
still thinks that Twilight stopped playing with Rarity simply bc the two girls naturally grew distant
and Rarity wonders, a lump in her throat, if Luz Nocturna knows
if he knows why his daughter once arrived home in tears
and why she stopped visiting the great hacienda on the hill

"you're not like me, Twilight. not really."

once the men leave
once Dulce Bella is dragged away
only two women are left

Twilight was older, a year older, and for once, Rarity feels it
the nineteen year old is only slightly taller than her
and yet it feels as though Rarity is dwarfed by her
"Twilight, it's nice to see you," Rarity says and it feels
fake
even if she means it, it feels
ugh

and it feels even worse when Twilight does not return the sentiment
she simply looks to the books on the table

"why don't we start?"

right, rarity says
something like that
she's not concerned with her words, for she is too concerned with the weight in her chest

it's horrible
there is no other way to say it, it is absolutely awful to realize that once upon a time, this was her best friend
once upon a time, Twilight Sparkle was Rarity's one and only confidant
and now she was a stranger
and it was Rarity who'd caused it

Twilight speaks softly at first
as she reads the books and takes in Rarity's lessons

Rarity watched her, wondering if perhaps for once the young librarian had been stumped
but soon enough Twilight pushes the book away and asks Rarity what she needs help with
and Rarity, awkward and uncomfortable by propriety, takes the familiar route
"everything!" she exclaims theatrically

"Todo! All of it has me in a bind!"

Twilight looks back to the books
and Rarity foolishly continues

"I absolutely hate college," she whines, seeking some sort of fellowship, but she forgets
she forgets who she addresses

"At least you can go to college," Twilight coldly replies.

and after that
Rarity speaks no more
and simply listens
and resolves to never see Twilight again

but the time comes after three hours
Twilight is by the door
their studies done

"Can't you stay?" Dulce Bella asks, staring up at Twilight with big wide-eyes. "I miss when you used to come and play with us..."

and Twilight smiles, a genuine smile that she would doubtless ever offer Rarity
"Maybe some other day, Dulce."

Dulce pouts. "I want to play now..."

"Dulce, andale, go inside," Rarity says. "I need to talk with Twilight."

once her little sister is gone, Rarity turns to Twilight.
They stare at each other across the threshold.

"Twilight, Papa wants me to go to college when I'm older..."

"Oh... I... I'll miss you..."

"Miss me? Silly, aren't you coming with me?"

"You should do well with your exams," Twilight says. "Just remember to review chapter eight and nine thoroughly."

"I will," Rarity replies rather lamely. An hour ago she couldn't wait for this torture to end, but now...

"I'll be on my way then," Twilight says, echoing what she said so many years ago, though now she is not in tears.
She steps down the stairs and walks off, and before Rarity can stop herself, she calls out

"Wa-Wait, Twilight!"

Twilight turns around, clutching her book again,
"Yes?"

"I..." Rarity swallows. "Will you not come back this Sunday? I have an exam next week, and I could use the help." And Twilight falters. "Please," Rarity insists.

and Twilight looks at her
and says
finally
"All right."
she takes a step back
"I'll see you on Sunday, then."

and she then turns around and walks away without looking back

she walks and walks and walks
down the path
past the gates
and finds her pink-haired friend waiting for her by the gates

"Twilight!" exclaims Tarta Rosita, waving excitedly.

"Rosita," Twilight says, finally letting her breath out.

"How'd it go?!" Rosita asks, before frowning. "Was she a super big meanie?"

and Twilight
Twilight falters.
"N-No, she wasn't," she says.

Rosita narrows her eyes. "Hmmmmmmmmmmm. Well! At least now you never have to see her again."

and Twilight replies, "I agreed to tutor her again on Sunday."

Rosita's eyes go wide. "You WHAT?! Why?!" she demands, indignant on her friend's behalf. "That meanie doesn't deserve to be your friend! Why did you agree?!"

"I don't know," Twilight says.

I don't know, she says, and she wishes it wasn't a lie.

She knows very well why she agreed, just as she knew very well as a child why she would follow Rarity to the ends of the earth, and why it devastated her when Rarity shunned her.

Because, as horrifying as it is to find out, even then and even after so long, her heart still chooses Rarity.

is... is this some saucy spanish melodrama between rarity and twilight? xD

This still needs to be made into a full fanfic.

This is even more amazing than the first post. The world needs this. :pinkiehappy:

(So it's Dulce Bella now, not Dulzura?)

Wonderfully cheesy. Rarilight con queso, I suppose.

I have nothing more to add, so have a drabble about Twilight Velvet drunk on tequila. That feels moderately related.

I am thoroughly enjoying these. I do hope they'll continue.

These little AU info dump blogs are quite enjoyable, I must say.

Hah fantastic!

This little hiatus is killing you huh? :trollestia:

I love this.

“Accidentally” continued.

Can we please just turn this into a full story? Even if its just a short one?

You can’t hide how much you love this idea mono, I see right through you, you’ll probably eventually be back.

(And I’ll pretend I don’t want it too)

It’s all I need to know.

Mono, your writing is superb. Please, even if you’re on hiatus or something, continue to write. Your talent must be shown, your passion for these ideas you get expressed.

Even this “accident” is beautiful.

IT'S BEAUTIFUL AND I LOVE IT

I love this little telenovela going on in your blogposts, it's like finding money you forgot about in your coat pocket: unexpected yet delightful!
