knighty's Favourite Music - Part 1 · 2:00pm Jan 25th, 2017

It's part one because I'm going to forget a million things that'll end up in part 2. Also I don't wanna overwhelm people. Anyway, I thought maybe some of you might be interested in my musical tastes. Or not, I guess that'll be answered. Some selections will be full albums rather than single tracks, and I warn you, my musical taste is extremely eclectic.

Sonata Arctica - Don't Say a Word

This is the stuff that I was mainly into when in my later school years, and I still go back to every now and again today. Just my favourite metal track ever to be honest. Honorary mention to another amazing SA track, White Pearl, Black Oceans - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EQtuPvtye5Y

ABBA - S.O.S.

Really there are many ABBA songs I adore but S.O.S. in particular does it for me in a way no other one of their songs has. Stunningly beautiful verses and a chorus you can't help but want to sing along to.

e-dubble - Robots Can't Drink [explicit lyrics]

Not a rap guy usually but e-dubble does some incredible stuff and this is definitely my fav. Helps that the backing is so great but the lyrics are just smooth as hell too.

Father John Misty - Holy Shit [explicit lyrics]

Love how the lyrics flow in this.

Neutral Milk Hotel - In the Aeroplane Over the Sea

Because memes. Also because it's a god damn incredible low-fi album with some of the most fascinating lyric interpretations.

Art Garfunkel - Bright Eyes

If you can make it through Watership Down when hearing this song and not cry like a baby I don't even wanna talk to you.

How To Train Your Dragon (John Powell) - Test Drive

Beautiful composition for a touching moment in the film with some stunning build up throughout.

Ori and the Blind Forest (Gareth Coker) - Completing the Circle

I could link the whole soundtrack but this one track is just....amazing. The fascinating thing is it only plays a single time in the whole game which makes the experience all the more incredible. I adore woodwind instruments getting extensive use which is why I love it so much.

Walk the Moon - Shut Up and Dance

It's painfully mainstream but...I can't lie and pretend it doesn't make me want to shut up and dance.

The Knocks - Classic

Because it's chill as. Honorary mention to "Collect My Love" - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GU4XmYKX7D4 for some of my fav vocals ever.

Bonnie Tyler - Total Eclipse of the Heart

Is it bad that I feel like the world should be grateful for Bonnie's damaged vocal chords for gracing us with her voice?

Muse - Origin of Symmetry

I was torn on what Muse album to include but I think OoS does the best job of demonstrating Matthew Bellamy's talents.

Diablo Swing Orchestra - Voodoo Mon Amour

Just...go listen to all their stuff to be honest. Some of the most unique music out there with incredible drum work especially. New album when >:

Studio Killers - Ode to the Bouncer

Best video. Just sayin'

That's if for now. I have plenty more in my head for part 2 which will have a bunch of orchestral and video game-y stuff.

I know two of those songs. (Bright Eyes and Total Eclipse of the Heart). I'll have to check out the rest.

4395895 I'm going to assume you forgot to mention S.O.S. because otherwise, wut.

The name isn't familiar, but I'd probably recognize it. I imagine I've heard most ABBA songs by now.

... I didn't know Bonnie Tyler actually had a broken voice o.o

you're super okay in my book now

I love Abba songs:raritystarry: even if they aren't my usual thing

Ooh, my friend can play Test Drive on the piano.

That's quite the selection there. I recognized most of those.

Do you have a specific genre(s) that you listen to? Or is it a little of everything, like your list?

Ooo I love abba :rainbowkiss: and shut up and dance. And total eclipse of the heart I burst out into song the other day whilst printing for my sister:rainbowlaugh: when she told me to turn around

4396023 Almost every genre I can think of has something I like. Well, there's a lot of garbage like nightcore that I don't have anything I like in, but I try to ignore genres in general.

4396028 Hah. I have some songs that have phrases that remind me of it too :p

4395998 That's awesome but I think somehow without an orchestra it wouldn't have the same effect

4395938 > not your thing. Get out

4396062

Nightcore is pretty trashy... But it's good you have a wide selection of music you enjoy. I bet you'll never get tired of any one song because there's just so many songs out there to listen to.

Sonata Arctica! Hooray! Bonnie Tyler also belongs to one of my favourites. Awesome. :moustache:

4396062 P.S Stockholm syndrome or Super massive blackhole are the best Muse songs

Nice list, I'm going to listen to any of the ones I haven't heard before. :)

May I recommend listening to Antti Martikainen? He does some of the most epic music ever.
