    Important message about Suicide

WARNING: Discussions, however brief for the sake of tact, about self-harm and suicidal thoughts are in this post. People especially vulnerable to such should ensure they are in a good headspace before reading. This sort of trigger is no joke.

    Chapter 56 Promo!

In an isolated, abnormally large, hollowed-out tree might not be the typical abode for megalomaniacal n'ere-do-wells. Though, there was a reason both of them had opted for current accommodations over the typical kingdoms and castles, in one form or another. The area was absolutely inundated with dark magic. From the eerie glow that some of the plants gave off, to traces of black aerenth crystals

Equestrian Profile: Mirror Universe Mane-iac · 7:31pm Dec 18th, 2016

Mane-iac

"No I do not fight crime in heels."
"D’em dames huh?"
"My McCarthy do you ever shut up, Gigan?!"

Title: The Defender of Maretropolis
Alias: Medusa, Golden Gal, Our Mistake (Masked Matter-horn)
Secret Identity:Mica “Marilyn” Hackett
Home Realm: Mirror Equestria's comic book realm and it's human counterpart
Occupation: CEO of Hackett Brands and Industries, Superheroine/vigilante
Stats:
Species: Mutated Human or Mutated Earth Pony (depending on dimension)
Coloration:
-Mane-iac: Bleach green skin/fur with dulled violet hair, emerald green eyes with a second, red iris
-Mica “Marilyn” Hackett: Dull pink skin/fur with blue hair, blue eyes
*Chemical burns on 35% of body, hidden by clothing
Gender: Female
Height: 6’0 (human), 5’4 (pony)
Weight: 175lbs (human), 500 lbs (pony)

Morality: Marilyn, or “Mica” is a reclusive, but generous and intelligent head of one of the biggest corporations in Maretropolis. Her public appearances after her accident have been rare, but she does still largely maintain the role of a kindly boss and generous donor. After her accident she had changed. While her sanity wasn’t broken, only bent and dented; she has been able to recall the events of that fateful night in vivid detail and have since made her more than a bit paranoid or crazed when she’s in-costume. After all, what kind of maniac would go up against the entirety of the Malice Mares and not have a few screws loose? Overall Mane-iac is jaded and to the point until she starts losing it. When that happens, run.
Traits: Form fitting suit that offers good protection from elements, concussive, and piercing force, numerous small gadgets and tools in her utility belt, good working knowledge of common chemicals and forensics, expertly trained martial artist and reasonably good acrobat.

Powers/Tools:

Prehensile Hair - Indicative of her mutation from chemical exposure, Mane-iac’s hair was altered at the atomic level. Aside from being able to mentally control each strand to grasp, pull, and smack; the hair in large strands has enough power to easily lift Mane-iac or others off the ground. It’s maximum lifting strength is over two tonnes. However this Mane-iac tends to use it more as a utility tool for climb, swing, and ensnare rather than relying on it as her primary weapon. The hairs are well anchored into Mane-iac's head so ripping them out is almost impossible. They are also fireproof and resistant to acids, but can be cut by extremely sharp implements with enough force.

The Black Beauty - A heavily modified muscle older model car, the Black Beauty is Mane-iac’s main mode of transportation in the human world version of Maretropolis. With a reinforced interior and exterior, solid body tires, smash proof windows, and mechanisms like an ejector seat along with a myriad of other gadgets; the Black Beauty is a much tougher and utility filled vehicle than it might appear despite the old appearance.

Altered Biology - Her near drowning in chemicals altered Mane-iac’s biology. Her skin was bleached to a pale green from its original pink and her mane was changed into a dark shade of violet. This affected her internal body as much as her external. Since her accident Mica has had a much diminished pain response. She can still feel pain and touch, but the response tends to be smaller and dulled. It also affected her eyes, giving her the “double iris” look and ramping up her light sensitivity. This is useful to see at night but during the day it’s required her to wear special filters in her suit with a wide brim hat, and in public she wears a large pair of contacts and sunglasses. One a fortunate side, her chemical dunk also left her immune to the various toxins she was exposed to. She can also somewhat change the color of her skin/fur and hair if she concentrates, which helps keep her civilian identity on the occasions she’s out in public.

Strength Enhancement - While her near drowning in the chemical vat did result in some problems like largely numbing her pain receptors and light sensitivity of her vision, it did come with the perk that it either gave her a degree of enhanced strength to just above or at the peak of her species’ capability. Genuinely superstrong beings like Saddle-Ragger do overpower her, but she is much stronger than your average mare/woman.

The Mane-iac Suit - Specially made through the assistance of her valet and butler with backdoor contracts, the suit is fire resistant, very hard to penetrate, and works great at dampening concussive blows. While the bright colors, burnt gold, purple-pink, and white might seem gaudy, the fact it’s coloration is so bright actually helps it both blend in with Maretropolis’ bright landscape as well as distract the eye and make her movements hard to track to give her an edge in close combat. The utility belt contains numerous small gadgets, usually to inspect a site or disarm a trap. The scarf and wide brim fedora would appear to hinder her, but both are mounted on a quick-release should they be grabbed. The large hat obscuring her head and scarf constantly waving around actually serve as further distraction to divert attention away from her vitals.

Weakness: - While her hair is incredibly durable and well anchored onto her, it can still be damaged by incredibly strong shearing motions and high temperatures. It can grow back, but it will take time. If her eyes are exposed Mane-iac is also sensitive to bright lights enough a strong camera flash can be blinding. If she loses concentration in public her civilian disguise colors fade into the natural ones she has as Mane-iac.

Bio:

Mica as most knew her before her accident was a cheerful, unfettered up and comer in the corporate scene well regarded by those around her; having taken her parents’ already prospering cosmetics business and expanded it’s horizons. If she didn’t know the answer to a problem she wasn’t too prideful to seek those who did and she made a point of being nice to her employees, the ones in her main office building she memorized by name down to the intern who brought her coffee. This unfortunately took a bump in the road when she became the Mane-iac. At first unnamed, she was dubbed such by Filli-second during a fight, who was making a pun off her hair as well as being crazy enough to take them on. Recently Mane-iac has managed to successfully capture several of the Malice Mares, but is well aware the others are planning something soon in revenge.

While she has kept her dual identity secret to all but a select few while serving as her city’s champion, there was one important difference between her and the prime timeline Mane-iac. Instead of falling into the chemical vats that fated night, she was pushed in because someone was trying to drown her.

Very different, and certainly to see the thought put into this, so bravo!

Wow, now this version of mane-iac I would LOVE to see in the comics. She has the origin story of the Original Red Hood, but instead of the Joker coming out, what emerged was BATMAN! That's a pretty cool twist for an otherworld story.

And with all her scars and painful memories, she sounds like she could use a hug. :fluttercry: .....Did I just say that? ME, wanting to give MANE-IAC.....a hug.......Touche guys.

4344855 Tis intentional. Since Prime!Mane-iac is basically the Joker, I thought it only natural her mirror would counterpart would be akin to the DC Mirror World's Joker (whom either goes by Jester or Red Hood still depending on incarnation). In that hero's case he was often pushed into the chem vat by Mirror!Batman a.k.a Owlman, which his sanity being dinged but not broken. Threw in a bit of Marvel's Moon Knight and of course, Batman himself to a degree.

Chemical burn marks came from idea of... well, you don't exactly get almost drowned in hazardous chemicals and not get some marks

Gracias! I've been thinking on this special for a long time and I'm liking how it's panning out.

This Maniac sounds interesting. Can't wait to see what you have planned, Tarb

So the Power Ponies in the Mirror universe are the villains instead of the heroes... Interesting...

If Prime Time-Gigan shows up, I'm betting for a major mental breakdown. Although I'm not sure who will have it.

Now this I was not expecting.

I suspect the answer to your question (who would have it) is... Yes. Scary enough, if they got past first impressions, I expect they would have far fewer problems with each other. Her utter lack of "romance" and his serious demeanor would set each other off far less then the alternatives.

Considering the wealthy background, the (near) human taking down supervillains, and the (presumed) criminal turning her into a hero origins, I get a very strong Batman vibe. As for the "dinged" sanity... you will have a very hard time convincing me that a man dressed as a Bat and fighting crime is completely sane.

4345084 Bat, not "bit" and yes I agree with you.

4345106
Ooops. Fixed.

Looking forward to seeing what antics Mirror! Gigan and Mirror! Mane-iac get into. Is the Batman that provided influence for Mirror! Mane-iac the incarnation from the Arkham games or one of the cartoons?

4345189
Eh, I'm a generalist when it comes to my DC stuff. Rarely is an incarnation I straight up dislike. With Bats I admit I'm most fond of the DCAU one, but the main comics, Arkham, BaTB, TB, and even the West Batmen all got their charms. I admittedly didn't play the Arkham games much but didn't see anything really disagreeable there. Though honestly Batman wasn't in my mind much while making this version of Mane-iac. This here is more a bit of BaTB!Red Hood, some Green Hornet (the car), some Moon Knight, and then Batman. But I suppose because her mirror contrast is Joker based, it's only natural.

4344887 It's very much like a lady like green arrow intermixed more with the joker/mask almost. You can swing between each, and yet have this point, you dont want them to cross if you push.

And...what the hell is Mirror! Gigan? And Mirror! Megalon?! That one especially scares me...

4345192 I think in one of the animated series, there was an opposite world. Batman had Owlman, while the Joker had someone who wore a red helmet over his face, with a red cape, and wore a black suit, and was based off of another playing card...Something like a jack, but not a black jack. Here's a picture of him.

There's also the Earth Three Joker, called Jokester...just kind of a palette swapped Joker, who was a good guy.
