Hello y'all! It's me, your friendly neighbourhood "oh so lovably batshit Twifight Sparkill", as per Phazon's declare in his recent blog. Isn't that just the nicest sentiment? ... I would argue, except he's not exactly wrong. Do I mind being regarded as a nutty sort? Heck no! I LOVE SQUIRRELS! I collect their skulls!
... I don't, just ignore that.
ANYWAY! So like, most of you may recall my posting some comments regarding Dusty Sage and his ill health recently - I love Dusty, and felt awful for his current plight. So to hopefully lift his spirits I did an art thing for him to use as his avatar:
I finally signed this after a few tries at getting it just right. I love it.
To be fair, I don't art anymore. I used to. I used to like it, but the "friend of mine" I would art with many MANY years ago, he and I ended up becoming ... not friendly. So as time went on, I felt less and less attracted to arting. In fact, I just stopped altogether and was fine with it. I don't need to art. I can do other things, like read... um, try to write. Uh. I HAVE A LIFE.
Recently I rewrote portions of my old stories, and nobody with a flicker of sanity would EVER do me the favour of reading and giving me HORRIBLE TERRIBLE TRUTHFUL CRITIQUES except for Phazon. He really loves it. I don't know why. He has a penchant for supporting my attempts at verse and at the same time making me hate myself, which according to TMZ labels him the PERFECT HOLLYWOOD LEAD. So... I guess he's Kanye West or Tom Cruise? Both? YES, BOTH.
He gave me his usual helpful advice, and I appreciated it as ever - except it had occurred to me that I have NEVER given him anything in return for his time! HOW LIKE ME! I mean... er, well. I am blithely unappreciative, I suppose. So I broke taboo AGAIN for the success of making Dusty happy, and I arted this for his insanely long story about a video game I have no recollection of:
He needed some art. On my page, his story was the only piece without any illusration, and it BOTHERED me. Yes, that's why I really did it. I went way beyond my usual abilities and made this as hardcore as I could! WOO!
I don't know if I'll ever art again, but I really loved how AU Fluttershy/Pit turned out. I hope you guys like it!
I just released a new chapter of Awards of the Heart, and I hope folks who used to read it enjoy the NEWLY UPDATED CHAPTERS BECAUSE I CAN'T STOP PICKING AT IT AND FIXING THINGS. Also, read Filly Fluttershy: Uprising, and tell me WHAT THE FUCK IS HAPPENING!?

finishingworking on any time soon are:A drama where refugee ponies fleeing from a dying planet, land in a spacecraft on Earth, and completely get off on the wrong hoof with the humans, written as diary entries of the chief engineer of the space ship.
A slice of life / drama oneshot about a pony with a deep-seated fear of changelings meeting one with a fear of being undisguised around ponies, on a day when changelings are officially welcomed by the Equestrian government to be themselves (as a way to ease tensions between them and ponies).
Actually the one fic I really needed some cover art for, I kind of found already. I really need to publish that! Besides, that would've been not-horse-art, idk how you'd feel about that.
You know? I might have to get back to you on this...

Here's the rules, Red of mine - be exacting: give me a chance to make art worthy of your time/place/idea with a ton of background. The only way I could ever placate Phazon was that he had a design and focus that was insurmountable.
Pitch your idea wholly and specifically: I like artistic freedom, but that rarely leads to your happiness.
Let me know your decision. For you, as Phazon, you're one of the only people ever I'd offer this for. PERIOD.
P.S.: Outside of all this talk: damn, I might love art again!
Art is like a magic power or something. One day you will have to use it to save the world from the forces of evil. You will prevail and leave them decimated, blinded by the glory of your ponies, and thus will begin the age of "Seriously? You didn't think you were good? What is wrong with you?"
Of course, to know that is to know the name of God.
Wow. I had no idea you did visual art--it's pretty fantastic! I also have no recollection of that game. I like the picture regardless.
I wish I could draw. Not in the "I wish for this thing beyond me in all ways" way but in a "I used to be able to attempt this but I fell short" way, and while I blame unsteady hands if I'm honest I really must blame my own lack of commitment. I would very much like to have that skill. I could, probably, learn to approximate something like it. But it would difficult and haphazard and long.
I'm not as convinced as I once was, but I still believe that before the power of image words grow faint, that at the end of the day despite all our hopes, a single image may yet still be better than mountains and fortresses of words.
Also, for the record. Your signature is pretty great.
