Seriously, like, I didn't know this was possible. It's starting to worry me.
Here's a picture of the feature box on May 2nd.
Notice the Velvet Touch is in 2nd place... and notice the other stories featured as well. It remains there for another day before dropping out of the feature box completely.
Now, here's the feature box on May 8th... six days later.
Velvet Touch is in 6th place (but will jump to 5th place shortly after the picture was taken). Notice that there are completely new stories in the feature box, and the story's like count is a lot higher. Velvet Touch stays in the feature box for the rest of the day before dropping out.
And here's the feature box on May 10th, taken this morning.
Once again, Velvet Touch is in the feature box after updating, taking the 5th place.
Now, I was under the impression that the top seven spots were for new stories while the bottom three were for updating stories. I've never seen an ongoing story actually head back up the feature box like Velvet Touch is doing. I really don't what to think of this. Is this like bumping your story for likes or something? Is there some site rule I don't know of that concerns what's happening? Why is my story breaking the feature box formula? Why is everything I know a lie?!

yep this is normal for a story to float around the top list as things shuffle around.
Your story keeps garnering enough heat to land itself in the featured box, individually on multiple occasions. It's entirely normal. It just usually doesn't happen so often, because "hot" stories don't normally update as often as yours does.
Way to go Max, you broke the feature-box! Hope you're happy!
Joking aside though, this is normal.
Sorta-kinda. It's for new stories that generate a lot of user-activity. Your story, just so happens, to generate a lot of...heat {if you know what I'm sayin'} each time you update it.
You get used to it.

You constantly update content that is high quality and often. So when your story is getting heat, it rides on the last heat that the previous chapter was riding on.
