I talked to Voiceguy. He said he wasn't trying to hurt me. And after all of this, I believe him. So, leave him alone, guys. Yes, his video wasn't pleasant, but it doesn't mean he's a bad guy. Just like I screw up a lot, but it doesn't make me bad. So try to set a good example for other peoples' followers.
I'm still scared to death to post anything here. I was unsure before I saw the video, so all it did was settle it in my head. I wrote because people loved it, and I thought I was good at something for once in my life. But I've proven that I can't take it when it gets harsh, so there's no point in trying anymore.
I'm not leaving the site. But I can't write anymore. I can't enjoy it knowing so many people despise me, and it's even worse because it's all my fault and there's no way I can fix it. That's not even a pity plea. It's the truth.
So, I can't risk finishing "The Phantom Pony of Everfree", the Steam Collection, the "Snapped" trilogy, or anything else I wanted to do, because people don't grade them as writing. They grade them as "something else from that attention whore LightningSword". There's no point in doing something you know you're good at if no one else cares. I know you guys care, and I'm sorry to say this, but you're all outnumbered. I love you all for your support, but I don't think it's enough anymore.
I'll still be doing videos, though. In fact, I need to look for the new episode so I can start my new review.
I'm sorry, everyone. But I just can't post stories anymore. So what they say is true. I'm a lost cause.

Good that you're not leaving for good. But it's still what they think and not everyone can see past the surface, like your friends do. You have nothing to be sorry for as far as I see it, and you are definitely not a lost cause. The mean words on the internet could peel paint off of a barn, but that doesn't mean they're true.
How is it your fault? Yes, you are not the greatest writer, but you're still a good one. A good one that can improve, if he tries to. When I first read A Gentle Dark, for example, I was quite entranced in it. It took me a while to look away from the story because I wanted to keep reading it. I'm generally a bad time keeper, but I completely forgot about time when I read it. People are mixing writing they consider not-so-good and judging and being mean to the artist just because he was room to improve. I hope you don't hate me for saying this...
I know this is probably futile, but I must try, for people to stop your passion of writing like that-UGH. Why are people so cruel?!
But still, I am glad you won't leave us completely. Even if you don't write anymore.

I suggest you return to writing. Always be very careful with who you trust, and you CAN trust ME. Also, I'm starting to think you have aspergers syndrome/autism.

I'll be honest, what I said about his review I stand by. But you shouldn't give up writing, you are a great author. To hell with what some naysayer says, and to hell with what the FFP says. For the FFP it's nothing more than a popularity contest than it is anything else.
But what you choose to do is what you choose to do, I only hope you don't give up on writing.

Criticism always hurts at first, Lightning, particularly when you pour your heart and soul into your works. There are always going to be people who don't like your work. But there will also be people who love it. That's just the way life is.
I think you can come to terms with that. It hurts at first, but eventually, you'll start to get a bit more thick skinned, and draw on the more constructive critics for advice. I won't try to pressure you to stay, but please consider this; loads of people enjoy your stories, myself included, they give it a like, favourite it, and leave comments expressing their enjoyment. Don't throw that away. You are a talented writer, and through your critics, you stand a good chance of becoming an even better one.
The decision is yours, but I hope to see you here again soon.

From my perspective, you're just a normal author, uploading pony fan fiction. It's your choice to do it, and the amount of followers you have show people like it.
Why should YOU stop doing what you want, just because someone wants to interfere with your life. Please keep writing, I hate to see authors that I follow stop, especially when you're a good writer.
Please listen to the comments, the community wants you to stay, you've done absolutely nothing wrong.
EDIT: Just scrolled through your stories. First few I look at, like count > dislike count. No way are we the outnumbered ones...
I'VE uploaded stories where all they get is straight dislikes (old account). But, I can't write :P. You can. That's why so many people follow you.
I hope you realise the truth, and see past what appears to be self-criticism, you're a much better writer than I'll ever be. Look at those figures, realise the people who dislike it are in a very small minority, and I hope you can enjoy writing again.
Well, I'll admit, you're right. We are outnumbered. But you actually have overlooked one detail. One very crucial detail that'll get you back to writing in no time.
Even though we're outnumbered, that doesn't mean we can't fight. This time, I'll be on your side of the fight. Whatever hate you get, I want them to come and hate on my stories to. You have a gift, lightning. An amazing gift in writing. And I'm proud to say that your gift is a gift worth fighting for.
Jesus Christ, this again? Come on Lightning, are you really going to tell everyone you're done with writing? Is there really no talking sense into you? Do you even listen to what others have to say? You are really going to abandon your fics and disappoint all of the people who decided to follow and favorite them? If you hadn’t watched Voiceguy’s video, then nothing would have happened. You would still be writing and you would be cheerful and happy. But because of one guy’s opinion—which was meant to be seen as comedy—you straight up abandon all of your fics? Lighting, this is going to hurt a lot of people, since they really love your fics. Including me, by the way.
Listen, I know your going through some tough times here, but you need to stop listening to people who call you names. I've only been on the site for a year now and I don't even go on this site all that often, dividing my time between school, civil air patrol, and building marine helicopter models. But I've learned that the Marine Corps has a very famous saying: Semper Fidelis, which means in Latin: Always Faithful. And that's what you need to be, always faithful in your ability to write. I'm not an expert in fictional writing, but it is likely the people that are verbally abusing you aren't either. So if you ever feel down, always remember Semper Fidelis. Don't you ever stop writing, and continue to have good faith in your writing ability.

Not gonna lie, this disappoints me. I actually really enjoyed your writing, and I feel that you deciding to not continue to write is letting the haters win.
But, I can't stop you, or force you to stay. It's your choice, and I respect that. I'm not happy with it, but I respect it. It's just a shame to see another great writer be assaulted to the point where he can't bring himself to do what he loves.

LightningSword, you're one of my inspirations as a writer. You're also one of my favorite writers in general. Seeing you give up like this... Damn. Seeing somebody that I believe is one of the greatest writers in the world giving up after some criticism... I know I can't convince you to start writing again with words, so I'll do it with action.
Actually, inaction. If you're done writing, then I am too. The only thing that's going to change that is if you get back to writing.
You are an artist, friend. Remember that. There will always be those that will hate what you do because they cannot relate to your stories, or they cannot write as well as you. And they respond in the only way they know how.
Remember that there a legion of us who hope to one day see a notification that you have taken up your pen again, and decided to continue to weave stories. Your stories. Stories that no one knows the ending to but you.
Until then, rest. Reflect. Do what makes you happy, no matter what anyone says.

Jesus H, write for yourself not for others, you will never please all of them. Put your stories out and if others like them fine, if not
buck them. You will do what you want as is your right , but I hope you wil reconsider and go back to writing for your own satisfaction.
