IWPFT: Chapter Three ~ Update Follow-Up · 4:25am Jun 1st, 2015

First off, I just want to apologize for the ridiculous lateness of this chapter. Thank you to all the people who've said something to me and encouraged me to keep going. Now, on to the fic stuff!
The Story
"It is about time this story shifted to my perspective!"
This chapter was really difficult to write. I kept rewriting and redesigning things, trying to figure out how I wanted Eos' introduction to be. Making her recognizable as an alternate universe version of Twilight while still making her distinct. To be honest, I hate this chapter. It's a really important chapter and I just hate how hard it was to write. But now it's done, and I don't have to deal with it anymore! whew.
This chapter gets the ball rolling on quite a few things. Now we're getting into the really interesting stuff!
Excuses
I have none, really. There's no good reason for why this update took so long beyond lack of will. School was definitely a factor, but the more significant thing was that when Twilight became an alicorn in the show, I lost a lot of motivation.
I always wanted to finish this story, though. I don't think a week has gone by when I didn't think about writing during my free time. A combination of encouragement from fans and a notable improvement in show quality in Season 5 has finally got me back into the swing of things. It's been slow going, with many many stops and starts, but we're finally here. Hopefully to stay.

...I remember that feature box. That was just a few months after I joined this site. I kind of miss the feature box being at the top of all pages. Without that, I probably never would have gotten into this fandom (I came for the Dresden crossovers, stayed for the adorable equines, but without fics in the box catching my eye all the time I probably would never have come back). On the other hand, google can now actually find the fics I search for instead of random pages that happened to be crawled while the fic was featured, which is nice. I do not miss that read later icon. The difference between "this is on RIL" and "this is not on RIL" was so tiny. And the banners! Ooh, right in the nostalgia.
...I miss banners. My favorites were the Megas XLR crossover, and the Nightmare Celestia ones.
Man, I've been seeing a lot of older stories starting up again, in the last few months.

If I were to make a guess, it's probably the new season. Lots of people coming back to the show for the new episodes, picking up old projects, etc.
Just a blind guess though.

This was the banner for a large portion of 2012, from when I first started reading fanfics on the site. Lot of nostalgia in that banner for me. And it's just cute and awesome, and reminds me of S1.

Yeah, there's some things I miss about the old layout and some that I certainly don't. I'd totally forgotten about the Google problem though, that was definitely garbage.
Holy shit that's a two and a half year hiatus. I'm probably gonna have to go back and read the two previous chapters again x.x Anyways, I'm always happy to see stories getting continued. Please don't leave a 2.5 year hiatus again between chapters

Well we haven't had any really fandom shaking revelations as of late. So, perhaps we've finally gotten a break from those enough that we authors with shattered fannon are creeping back onto the stage?
Or it's all a big coincidence.

Jesus, that's an oooold screenshot. I remember when the site looked like that. I also remember how empty the top bar felt when Knighy moved the featured box to the front page specifically. I went through the process of determining what it meant for the potential loss of view for featured stories and everything!

Thank Luna you're back. It'd been so long since you updated that I had mostly forgotten the story. Don't wait so damn long anymore, you're too good a writer for that.

And man, how nostalgic to see this website back when its layout was actually somewhat intelligent.
