Hello my loyal reader! I have something important to ask you regarding Last Brony Gets His Wish, but first! Some fun nonsense!
Check this out this pic! What do you mean you haven't seen the finale yet? No it's not spoilers, but stop reading this crap and go watch it! It was pretty awesome btw. I mean, you can bitch and moan all day about its caveats, toys taking over the show, and that rainbow power ranger crap looking ever so tacky, but at the end of the day, I think we all have to agree that Twilight used a fuckin' spirit bomb, and that whole fight scene just made everything worthwhile. Speaking of the finale, I'm sure you've seen this already, but I would like to ask you to sign that petition about the tree. I know, I know! It seems like something stupid to petition about, but bear with me.
For me, it's far less about the tree itself (though Celestia knows I felt like part of my soul died with it) and it's much more about the flagrantly obvious toy advertisement put in its place. In fact, the stupid rainbow shit would be a lot less stupid (and tacky) if it weren't adhering to the toy department's BS. So for me, this petition is a way to let Hasbro know that we're getting tired of them bending the show to fit the toys. (Yes yes, I'm well aware the cartoon spawned as a way to promote toy sales, but damnit! Times have changed!)
Now, I will admit that when I first saw that petition, I was thinking 'Well I would sign it, but the tree is gone and that's just the way the cookie crumbles.' However, now that I've slept on it a few times, I realize that it's not about the tree at all. If this petition gains any serious amount of signatures, I think it will at least make a dent in Hasbro's armor. In short: It can let them know that we're serious. It's almost at (the goal of) 1000 signatures. Let's see it get to 2000. Sign it. Get your friends to sign it. Hell, get your parents to sign it. Find a bum on the street to sign it. And then give them a sandwich. Let's get this ball rolling guys!

Ok, so you've all been waiting super-patiently for updates to Last, which I should mention is actually counter-productive with me, you'd be better off bugging the shit out of me. Gets me motivated :3 And then I dropped that Fool's Day bomb on you guys. I'm sorry, I couldn't help it! It's Fool's Day! You gotta pull some stupid shit once a year!
Anyway, I'm getting to that point where I feel like a complete bastard. What's it been? 6 months? A year? A millennium? I lost track, honestly. Point is, I need to get that one up and running again. And quite frankly, the carburetor is all gummed up, the piston rings are rusted, and the spark plug wires have turned into dust. So I could use a little help freeing this sucker up.
As we left our old man protagonist, he was just about to start festivities at his very own Pinkie-hosted welcome to Equestria and sorry for scaring the shit out of you party. The next few chapters I plan to make very slice-of-life-y, just chronicling short conversations Dane will have with ponies at the party, as he meets-n-greets.
Here's the question: Which ponies would you like to see Dane interact with at this party?
Pretty much anypony from Ponyville is free game, imagine the whole town being there. Not the princesses, though, they're not attending. As some of you might know, I have a little tidbit already written involving Lyra, and to some extent, Bon Bon. I have a handful of others in mind as well.
Do you have any suggestions for what should go down at the party? Any ideas what'll happen when he talks to any particular pony? I mean, you name it, I'll consider it. I want some fresh ideas!

1-3 Background- PP= Derpy because people love her, I'm indifferent, Time Turner because fun human talk, Lyra because people love her and fun human talk although I personally am meh with the whole human/Lyra thing, one of the cakes seeing as the party I believe is at their place.
Save tree...no, so much no. I am so personally against that it's not funny. I normally take a neutral standpoint on almost anything but this is one thing I personally can not do that with. Derpy is one thing because of the reason they got rid of her although I'm indifferent to her character. The tree actually happened in an episode and is part of Twi's rage. If they brought back things in any show or game just because people wanted it, that would get so bad so quick. I personally felt nothing on seeing the tree destroyed but if they just brought it back it would lose all the feelings people had when they saw it destroyed in the first place. I think the tree should simply stay dead. They could even do an episode about moving on from the past with it, even have a memorial and flashbacks of all the good times they had. :)

I personally disagree with your reasoning but I think it's great you can feel that way. I have a hard time seeing this as anything other than some bronys complaining about their favorite tree getting blown up, even if there is a deeper reason or meaning. I'm not talking about you, mind you but just in general.
Away from the tree for a moment, try not to over burden yourself with character scenes. :)

I actually read that before I even had an account--went back and checked it out again.
It's one of those stories that probably influenced my headcanon somewhat. As time has progressed, I've become less opposed to the idea of ponies eating meat occasionally (after all, they will IRL if the opportunity presents itself [and if the video was still up, I'd add the link of the horse killing baby birds for the purpose of eating them]).
It's also the only story I've ever read from the perspective of Gilda. Gilda regurgitating chicken for Dash was a nice touch, too.
From a technical standpoint, it's kind of quick, and there are a number of grammatical errors which I don't see in some of your newer stuff.
I also think that you could publish another chapter from Dash's viewpoint.

As for meat, I always bring up the human comparison, Hindus and Muslims. In India, they live together. Hindus are vegetarians, and Muslims aren't. They make it work (more or less) but 99% of the Hindus simply won't touch meat.
I've seen the videos, man. Actually Dash Eats Meat was a learning experiment for me. Before I got those comments, I never would have guessed that horses and cows and deer would do that shit. I'm pretty sure that video of the cow slowly munching a baby chick while it tweets for its dear life, will probably haunt me forever.

Since your story was published, we've seen enough evidence in show to reveal that ponies aren't all totally against the concept--Rarity's dad's been seen fishing, Fluttershy fed fish to her ferret friends, I'm pretty sure Big Mac was fishing in one episode. Whether or not ponies typically eat the fish is, of course, open to fan interpretation.
You're right, of course, that two cultures who do and do not eat meat (or certain kinds of meat) can live side by side and get along. I wonder if the Hindus are offended by the Muslims eating beef, or if it's just politely not mentioned? Anyway, I've always preferred the concept that the ponies are well aware that there are creatures who eat meat, and most of them don't freak out about it, even if it's something that they wouldn't want to do themselves.

And, again, it doesn't have to be shipping related either. What if there was a clue about something or someone from one of the Mane Six's past, before Twilight moved to town? Or something?
