Seriously thinking about just cancelling it. Or maybe even deleting it entirely.
Some of the reaction has left a really bad taste in my mouth. Some of the replies are just plain ignorant, puerile, and even uncivil. People fail to understand very simple basic concepts, and trying to explain those concepts to people just causes the "I'm young and I am awesome and I KNOW EVERYTHING" crowd to piss and moan, because they can't handle an adult mature worldview that challenges what they think they know.
I'm really bothered with this.
I wanted to disturb people. I wanted to horrify people. I did that. I did what I set out to do.
I just wish I had done it to mature people capable of rational civilised discussion and not people who go ZOMG! I totally skullfuck Luna if she try to that my OC over the top all powerful imaginary personality!
It is just annoying... Anybody understand what I am saying?

I'm sorry, I'll shut up now. But some of the replies have really just bummed me out and made me not want to write today, which is bad for me. I need to write.
Anyway, canceled or not, expect a hiatus or something. I'm so sickened by this whole thing that I have no desire to continue the story right now.
People are assholes. Don't let them get to you.

I am sorry to hear that,
I must say that this story actually is making me think and in a way, it is a nice different take, I feel that a part of it is that maybe the folks are not fully understanding that in reality Equestria is different that say the only other place with a monarcy that americans seem to think about. England.
Still, I am just saying that sometimes, well one small peice of Advice, do not let others dictate your thoughts and ideas. If anything having folks say that or being riled up, it is them reacting to being horrified, and etc.
Where as my own reactions... uh... well, I am a little worried but, why not try it. And I liked reading it, I love reading different stories. I really do like reading different things. Because, if everyone had the same headcannon and thoughts, then it would be a very boring world.
I also like the idea your headcanon of just what power the Co-Rulers of Equestria have. So, good job and congrats.
Please consider this as well as a review for your story up to chapter two as well. I just got sidetracked and ended up writing it here instead.
Still, if you wish to listen to my advice, keep going. Stand up and take the courage to take this story further. I do like the idea of reading this to the conclusion.

Over a hundred to one difference? At least it looks like it to me. Heck you have less thumbs down then I have seen on some of the better stories, it is just that some folks are a little vocal when they dislike something, instead keep an eye on your ups and downs. Based on that, you have a fan base to keep going.

Don't understand why people go hating on a story. I can see where some people would get a pissy, but its just a story.
I sort of wanted this to be 1984ish, with ponies.
The only crime I could think of that would really get the attention of the Princesses would be suicide. I mean, I really thought about this. They are Goddesses. Throwing your life away is an insult to them.
From there, the story developed. In a weird terrifying sort of way.
Please don't. This is the first time I saw a fanfiction like this being done and you should let the hater get in the way of it.

In all seriousness though, you shouldn't stop writing a story simply because you are getting some hate for it. If you use a subject that can be discussed thoroughly, and you are on the internet, chances are you are gonna get some of everything. Some hate, some maturity, some everything. If you feel that bad about it though, nobody is gonna stop you, and nobody (who matters) will be angry at you for it.

It almost holds that tone until we hit stuff like altering Cutie Marks and Nocty's continual non-entity, geas-bearing status in this weird dom/sub relationship he and Luna have going on.

I had unrealistic expectations I guess because of The Chase. I mean, there has been wonderful exchanges there, meaningful stuff, and it has been mostly mature and good natured.

2102731 I can see where that train of thought would have come from. At the same time, the subject matter is different, and the comments reflect that. The chase breeds discussion about issues of perspective, but none of the perspectives immediately apparent are very dark. This on the other hand has a dark side, and i guess that was reflected in the comments. Delicate subjects are stuff where issues start appearing, in those matters it is much more easy to anger someone, or at least it leaves an area open for hostile responses.

Actually, I am writing right now. And finding my self channeled into Graves, the donkey. Very odd. And cathartic.
I got around to reading the story after seeing this post (I have a very large backlog). I think it's interesting if flawed, and I'd like to see more of it.
I have more specific comments, but I'll post them on the story itself later.
It is, in the end, your story, so do what you will. I can only say that I very much like the thought exercise of Princess Luna watching ponies and dealing with their negative, circular thinking that can lead to suicide. I'm surprised at the negative reactions to this story, given that many fans of the show talk about how it lifted them from depression.
is how I feel about life, and the choice of suicide. Life is a gift, and it is not mine to decide the ending. Please do continue. I'm curious to see the further adventures of Noctilucent at the orphanage.
