Tropes are go! (Pool open, dive in.) · 12:56pm Apr 25th, 2014

I just updated all the story descriptions in the Triptych Continuum with an official notice that the TVTropes page exists and will take any help it can get.

All nineteen stories received that update.

It didn't seem too daunting until I actually counted.

(And yes, this means something is getting updated today, come Tartarus or high temperature.)

Right now, the page has separate sections for Triptych and A Mark Of Appeal, with the additional stories grouped into 'others' within a third area. (No folders.) If anyone wants to tinker with that formatting, it's an open-edit site: try anything you feel might be more appropriate. I've done the majority of the entries myself, with Jarrell, Masterweaver, Musemaker, and FashionablyHospitable putting in some time. A few things have had echo entries set up on the actual trope pages -- the 419Scam didn't have a FanFic listing until I reached it.

To some degree, I've been having fun with it. As of this writing, there are seventy-one tropes on the page (given that Power Incontinence appears twice), with my having added Bizarre Pony Senses and Energy Absorption this morning. Tracking down which ones apply is the hard part: creating the entries can be entertaining. (Again: all the help I/it can get, with thanks.) I'm mildly happy with the entries for Diurnal Nocturnal Princesses and Manestyle Malfunction.

So, with all that said... here's the current list of stories in the now-officially-named Continuum, in timeline order, starting with the earliest. A * indicates a story with strong need of trope entries. ** means there are no tropes up for that story yet.

100% Move = 50% Fire *
On The Application Of Time And Motion Efficiency Studies To Initial Relationship Formation *
One Tenth-Bit **
A Total Eclipse Of The Fun *
A Mark Of Appeal
Stupid Direction-Face **
Five Hundred Little Murders **
Luna's Lottery Lunacy *
Sonic Rainbigot *
If Rainbow Dash can't sleep...
Cutie Mark Crusaders Alpha Pack Leader
Permanent Record (A bit of an odd duck, as it starts before any of the others: this is the point where it ends.)
Orange Is The New Blue *
Dear Friend,
Pinkie Pie vs. The Soufflé *
0G Network Coverage **
Triptych
Snowflake Shoe-Hare (takes place concurrently with Triptych starting at Chapter 4 of the later.)

Pony Up A Tree ** is part of the set, but I'm not placing it on the timeline just yet.

What's needed:

* Any trope entries you see as appropriate.
* YMMV bits. I haven't started any because the author seems to be a very bad choice for the person who's determining the variance of mileage.
* Crowners, if applicable. (Funny, Tearjearker, Heartwarming, and Awesome.) Also possibly Nightmare Fuel. Again, I feel I'm the wrong person to judge any of these.
* Page formatting, if you think it's necessary. I think A Total Eclipse Of The Fun might wind up needing its own section or folder at some point, but that's me.
* People willing to throw in a minute here and there.

It's an open water park. If you feel like it, go on in and splash.

Or just go see the level of atrocity which the rest of us hath wrought.

For the record, I'm Musemaker. And I'm rereading Triptych, compiling a list of possible tropes as I go. (The second readthrough is fascinating, by the way. You dropped a lot of subtle hints.)

Hm, searching TVTropes for "Piano Murderer..." :pinkiehappy:

Well, there's a page, but it's a stub. Looks like Piano Drop is about the only thing that fits other than MIT's Drop Date (which, even for MIT, is a weird tradition)

As promised, now that illness is no longer getting in the way to the same degree (although I'm still on cough drops), updates resume.

Thank you. I know it's work, and not necessarily easy work at that. I've been learning that the hard way. Believe me, I appreciate all efforts.

Hint dropping? I'm generally happy when I look at a scene and can remember where everypony is standing.

And if I go back and find that stub page edited, guess who's Suspect #1?

(I can't use that trope for 100% Move = 50% Fire. It didn't land on anypony. And based on Comments experience, if it had, some people might have had less trouble with the pony death than that of the piano.)

:yay: It's looking good. Of course the thing about tvtropes is that the more you look for tropes, the higher the threat of being sidetracked by some link or interesting example. And then you don't get anything done. :ajsleepy:

But, you know. Half a link, half a link, half a link onward.
Theirs is not to cry out why, theirs is but to read and write.

I won't butcher that any further.

Update? :duck: This intrigues.
