    I'm Basically Done

I hate to say it, but I've moved on from fan fiction, and really the whole brony community as a whole. As with all things, you just get bored of it eventually, and I think that times has come for me. Who knows, maybe I'll have time for this stuff later in life, but I think it's time to say goodbye. I've been spending a lot of time working on music and stuff; my band is playing at the Burlington

A Temporary Loss In Interest, And In Time

So I haven't been on here very much in the last two weeks. I've been keeping busy with things, schools things, and adjusting to taking more hours at my job. I'm also not feeling particularly inspired in terms of ponyfic, but I do have some ideas I want to write before I call writing quits (which will probably happen within the next year, honestly. Though I'll probably still pop in here as long as

    Testing Testing 1, 2, 3

So today, after spending all day studying for my upcoming AP exam, working 8 hours at my new* job, and then doing more of the same, I decided to unwind and try and catch up on season 4, which I admittedly never finished. And what do I get when unwinding? An episode about fracking tests for Baltar's sake. It's like mlp is trying to tell me to study instead of wasting time watching cartoons. Joke's

The Eight Most Annoying Things The Brony Community Ever Produced · 2:44am Apr 10th, 2014

1. Fluffle Puff
Of everything on this list, Fluffle Puff is only thing I can say that I truly hate. Everything else I just sort of don't like that much. There is not a single reason I can think of for this to exist. There's no semblance of a moral, conflict, plot, or anything close to an actual story. It's the worst offender in the Brony community's dumb obsession with everything cute.

2. JanAnimations Button Mash Series
Piggybacking off of the last one, this one makes it on #2 on the list not because it's annoying in it's own right, but because it's made by a channel that normally makes quite enjoyable animations. The fact that the creator of these embraces these more than anything else they've ever done makes them come off as an attention hore. Imagine if Nirvana said the best song they'd ever done was Smells Like Teen Spirit and apply that here. Jan is the best animator in the community but falls flat with story concepts.

3. Equestria Daily
I suppose this might be a surprise to people, as EqD is largely responsible for popularizing fan labor in the early formation of the community. But it, like many people around in that time, has trouble moving on past 2012. By continuing to toute the same products repeatedly, EqD shows that it's not willing to dig deep enough into the newer works the community has to offer, a fact that is especially surprising when you consider that they run mostly on submissions rather than finding things themselves. They've also shown bad taste by judging fanfiction on grammar first and story quality second. That's so wrong it makes me want to vomit.

4. PMVs
Thankfully, BronyDanceParty and the rest of the people behind these seem to have stopped. The fact that these people amassed popularity from piggybacking off of the work of talented musicians sickens me.

5. The Conversion Bureau
I'm sure we're all familiar with this one. Apart from that one admittedly funny one in the featured box at the moment, I've never seen one of these I've liked, and believe me, I've tried. The idea is a dead horse run into the ground with yesterday's worn trousers. Also Chatoyance.

6. Anthro
This is a dumb idea. Serving mostly the interests of cloppers and bad artists, I'm glad I don't have to see Anthro that much. Either humanize it or just leave them as ponies, there's no reason to have some weird middle ground.

7. Double Rainboom
Opportunity missed. For all the talent that went into this thing, they neglected to bring in someone who actually knew how to write, again demonstrating how much other parts of the community overlook fanfiction writers. All in all, great animation and a great undertaking, but the plot left a lot left to be desired.

8. Gluefics
Special thanks to WoodenToaster for unintentionally starting this trend by writing Rainbow Factory. Though some of these existed beforehand, the fic based on that song was the gluefic to end all gluefics and popularized this lame subgenre. It also spawned a number of equally annoying spinoffs.

I couldn't think of any more that wouldn't be redundant, but I'm other people can. Please share. Your hate makes you powerful.
Also, the tagged story is an honorable mention, mostly because it's ahead of Fool In The Rain on my stories list for some inexplicable reason.

*Edit*
So there were definately a few things I missed. Let's continue the list, shall we?

9. Nyx
I can't say I've read nearly enough of this stuff to make an accurate judgement, but the little I have read wasn't good. The theme is pretty generic, and sometimes doesn't exist altogether. Certainly nothing to get excited about.

I'd like to add the fucking "Xenophilia" stories to this. I just... I hate them. I have no issue with clop, but those stories have basically no character development, very stale characters at that, a shitty plot, and the first one is very clearly a self-insert that the author felt too ashamed to upload on his own, so he had some guy on here do it.

If you like them, that's fine. Just know that I don't.

You forgot all the different versions but the same as this picture that are everywhere.

I don't read clop, so I wouldn't know. I was going to add clop to this list, but then I was like, "don't knock it until you try it". But I'll never try it, so me and clop will forever be at an impasse.

1996320
Yeah, it's hard to pick between Xenophilia and My Little Dashie, but one or both belongs on this list.

I've seen some PMVs that I liked, where the music and editing made sense and made the whole greater than the sum of its parts. (Rainboom Connection comes to mind, being my favorite.) And EqD works well as a news source for those of us who don't use Reddit and need to know what the next episode is. Other than that, this is a pretty good list.

I despise Nyx, myself. Also the five score stories were less than enjoyable to me. :unsuresweetie:

I gotta say I love most of the stuff on your list.

1996330
The sidestories of My Little Dashie, yes. The original story is only bad because of those spinoffs. It's actually a pretty good story. Not bad, not great, just good.

jk, that's fine with me. Just as long as you don't hate everything on my top 10 list if and when I make that.

don't forget the the horrible you're human and you stories as well.

I concur with this list.

Item #9 of the list: Iceboxfroggie's new avatar
Why didn't this guy understand how sexy it was originally? It's a shame.

1996350 this avatar is a trial run

it'll probably go back to normal at some point within the week

The hell is a gluefic?

Meh, I guess. Your list is agreeable. :moustache:

1996365
Story where characters are crushed up and turned into something. Like Rainbows, or glue. Para used the term one time and I added it to my vocabulary.

1996368
Your grammar are agrees two.

1996374 Heh, thanks for the correction.

1996369
Ah, gorefic, gotcha.

1996383 Gore fics? What about 'em?

I… have nothing new to contribute to this list. :rainbowderp:
Other than the inferior, newly discovered bronies who openly proclaim their love 24/7.

TBH I like a few of these. I like Fluffle Puff because it's stupid (and chwissy kat >3<), Anthro I can dig (not the clop, just the neat art), and Equestria Daily got me INTO Fimfiction so hating them would be rather mean-spirited to me. As long as you don't try to convince me I'm wrong about the three I posted I agree with your opinions c:

Especially Double Rainboom. Fuck that shit. Snowdrop wasn't anything special either.

You know what I hate? :unsuresweetie:
Clopfics.:trollestia:

I can only really agree with three of these statements, including the 400,000 word epic "We'll bang, okay?" Everything else you just seem to be taking it a little too far up your asshole. Keep calm and embrace some cute stuff every once in a while.

Also, add the Copypasta Fallout: Equestria on there too.

6. Anthro
This is a dumb idea. Serving mostly the interests of cloppers and bad artists, I'm glad I don't have to see Anthro that much. Either humanize it or just leave them as ponies, there's no reason to have some weird middle ground.

AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH

everything else is spot on though

The fact that these people amassed popularity from piggybacking off of the work of talented musicians sickens me.

Fanfictions are the same. They piggyback of the creative talents and successes of Lauren Faust and the show writers.
*adds a couple more buckets of dripping sarcasm for desired effect*

1996330

I've seen some PMVs that I liked, where the music and editing made sense and made the whole greater than the sum of its parts.

Yeah, as have I. You can see an excellent one here:
Immigrant Pony

I actually only agree with half of these, and this list could have been thought out.

If you ask me? EqD should be higher up.

While there are certain things in this fandom I dislike, I don't really care to voice my opinions; the fact that there are so many dedicated fans out their prepared to pour an unimaginable amount of hours into their work in order to give back to the fandom makes me proud.

I don't care if Fluffle Puff is boring, or whether PMVs lack creativity. I'm just happy to see so much fan content being produced. Hating on the bad quality or bad concepts of each would be fruitless. Yeah, TCB has been beaten to death, and we really don't need to see another fanfic about it, but I just remind myself that that is one more work that our community has produced. Even if it's bad quality, there are plenty of good quality works out there to even things out.

FInally:

[Equestria Daily] have also shown bad taste by judging fanfiction on grammar first and story quality second. That's so wrong it makes me want to vomit.

I personally think that EQD just use grammar as a thinly veiled disguise for judging story quality. It's kind of unfair to tell someone "We rejected your fic because we don't want to see any more human self-inserts / shipfics no one would be interested in / another Twilight becomes a changeling story, etc."

They have standards they want to stick to. I just wish that those standards were actually about story quality and story content, as opposed to the current heavy emphasis on grammar and syntax.

I agree with this list wholeheartedly.

1996330
1996625
How. How could you forget this?

But yes, by and large brony music/pmvs are quite bad. The above (and others) are exceptions, though.

1997984 I recommend these:

[youtube=NcTM-lRxPbs]

[youtube=320U8ksbCV4]

[youtube=H_FmxjLdJYQ]

1996625
That's a bad argument. PMVs are not only samplings of music but samplings of the animation part, and as such none of the content originates with the creator of it. Fanfiction only takes half of it's content from the original medium.

1996903

I personally think that EQD just use grammar as a thinly veiled disguise for judging story quality.

So do I. I forgot to put on there they they're big fat stinking liars. Though I do see your point, I still find it fun to make blogs like this. As I said, the only thing I really hate on here is flufflepuff. I'm just here to rack up some laughs.

1996595

I don't even like South Park, but this is just a good one liner. Also, the relevance factor.
