If you're wondering why all my interviews got condensed into one story. · 11:22pm Feb 4th, 2014
All of my stories, in their entirety, will now be allocated to a single story-post. From there new stories will be added as chapters and all my stand alone entries will be deleted.
That sounds pretty massive.
So are you fusing the ones that you have together?
If you do, don't include the doctor whooves one.
I was wondering what happened. How I translated that was, "We no longer care about short stories or one shots. From now on, everyone must have at least one monolithic doorstopper of a story. We're chosing to enforce this rather than address actual issues."
No seriously, who's the asshat that decided that this is a chapter rather than say, a stand alone story?
Something must've happened to warrant that action. I'm pretty certain it was nothing you did; probably some lesser author thought it'd be a great idea to try and game the system by uploading his story as a series of one-shots or something.
My sympathies, friend; it only takes one to ruin everyone's fun.
Its no doubt a massive amount of work but it probably follows some kinda rule. So whatever the reason its probably a good one. I'd let the mods know its gonna take you time to organize everything.

I actually already have. I have never copy pasted so much.
Sorry that
you'll have to doyou did quite a lot of copy+pasting, but it does actually sound like it's for the better. For example, it'd be much easier for me to keep up with the updates if it's in order rather than separate stories. (Even though it really wasn't that complicated before, you still get my point.) And I also get the bonus of an email every time it updates.1797265 It's because each story behaves more like a chapter. They don't all have arcing exposition and conflict and resolution, rather, that is achieved from the entire continuity put together. The combination does seem more organized and reasonable to me, even if the separate stories were pretty harmless anyway.
1797318 You're assuming someone is to blame. It could very well be that a mod noticed something formatted 'improperly' and decided to make a change. A very similar thing happened to me a year or two ago, when I had to take down previously-approved Real Episodes (episodes in story form) because they didn't quality as fiction and also risked copyright. It wasn't because anyone reported me or anything, it was just a mod noticing something.
1798541 By your reasoning any story an author writes within the same universe could be considered chapters instead of stories in their own right. There are plenty of stories on Fimfiction that are less self contained aren't being limited like this.
I am a big fan of your stories, and I must say, this is the worst thing that could happen to them. Like, ever. People want to read your stories, not chapters, even though the stories are continuous.
If you want your stories to be more popular, this is almost sure to have exactly the opposite effect.
Also, are you serious you want to make chapter #18 116k words long? That's just fucking insane. From now on, your stories will be harder to keep up with, and generally more difficult to read at all. Instead of merging all of them together, you should find yourself a better editor, as there are still plenty of mistakes in every chapter of every story (but that doesn't make the stories themselves bad).
So Lyra and Bon Bon are next?
Can't wait. As for story formats, I'm fine with massive long chapters.
That is some grade A bullshit right there. I was waiting for the next part for the longest time. At least it'll be somewhat easier to track now, instead of the admins addressing any issues and making bullshit policies like this.
Is there any way to migrate comments over? No? Then requiring you to depublish all but one of your stories is bullshit.
The old stories won't be lost will they?

No, that's different. With something like Daily Show Ponies, it acts more like one singular story that just so happens to have a lot of slice-of-life elements.
What you're saying is that sequels are exactly the same thing because some of them have plot threads that carry over, or aren't resolved in the same story they came up in.

The old stories are now chapters in the new mega story.
As for the old stories with the comments and discussions and all that... technically they're still in my archive but only I can see them.
