Next up, some more Christmas metal. This is one of my favorite bands, Theocracy, a Christian power metal outfit.

I know that by now, you are all well aware of, and are likely very tired of, my constant self-deprecation. I do apologize, but I can't help it. See, when I was younger, I used to actually have a problem with thinking myself better than others, which led to jealousy and pettiness. This still rears its ugly head from time to time, most notably when much better authors publish chapters of their much better works, but bah. So, I always try to temper myself. I fear sometimes that if I start to believe my "hype," I may become one of those self-important douches we all hate so much.
Anyway, enough emoness. Wow. Half a thousand people care about what I have to say. 500 people have deemed me worthy of monitoring. I... you guys...
I am trying to not turn this into some awkward acceptance speech... even though I genuinely feel more proud of my accomplishments in this fandom than most other things in my life. But that is because of y'all. I care so much about you guys. Dudes, I have fans! Like... people care about me! For real, every single comment, fave, upvote or PM makes me smile like you would not believe. People put up with my constant bitching about lesbian shipping, my rabid hatred for Cloud Kicker. Crazy talented authors like Sharaloth, Bronius Maximus, Visidine Visidane, Bad_Seed_72, friggin' Short Skirts and Explosions, have told me how much they enjoy my work! Today, I preread for a friend, and someone left a comment about, "Whoa, you got Jake The Army Guy to edit for you?!" That... it just... argh!
And I feel bad because my writing has stalled for some reason. I have about 4K of the next Beholder chapter, but I was told by my dear friend Golden Vision that it may need a big rewrite. I still haven't figured out the characters, and I'm still working on the details, but dammit, I promise you all this: I will not abandon my stories. If I publish something, I will finish it. May take a while, but fucking A, it will be done.
Alright, dammit, enough. Look, I sign out nearly every blog by saying this, and I want you to know that I mean it: I fucking love you all. From the bottom of my little brony heart, I mean it.

Hooah! Congrats Mr. TheArmyGuy! 500 is a pretty big milestone, and one that you have earned many times over! I almost joined the Army for the chance to get screamed at by you (Not really, AF all the way) But still! You are an awesome person/writer/editor here's to whatever comes next!

It just made me arrogant.

Hey, you deserve it, man. Not just for your writing, but for the fact you actually try to help others out. (I include myself in that bunch). Too many writers tend not to do that.

But seriously, congratulations on the major milestone! You've still got ways to go as a writer, but I believe that you have what it takes, and not many can say the same. Keep being awesome.

Also, it's funny that you used self-deprecation to deal with your ego troubles, I used tremendous amounts of narcissism to boost my self esteem a while back. Got the self-esteem issue fixed, but it's still fun to act like I think I'm God's boss.
Speaking of God, good call on Theocracy. Rare to find religious music that isn't horrible, but Theocracy will have a place on my iPod if I ever find the damn thing.
Self-depreciation is an excellent thing, as long as it's tempered with reason. Never bash your head when it's unreasonable to have expected better, but a drive for self-improvement is a powerful thing.
Also, power metal? Excellent, good taste in music
Seriously though, you're an excellent writer. Keep up the good work, and milestones like 1k and 2k will be throwing themselves at you
Congratulations. It is not always that the number of followers indicates a good writer. I think it does in this case.
I find that a good way to avoid getting carried away by your own hype train is to examine what happens to those who do. Try reading up on the likes of Gloria Tesch, Laurel K. Hamilton, Robert Stanek, and even Anne Rice to see what ego can do to an author.
I'm glad to see you've hooked so many readers; I know I've enjoyed your stories, and it's always interesting to see an author you like comment on so many of the stories you yourself follow. So as a former Army, current Brony, let me say keep on keeping on, you're doing great and deserve the praise that's given

You've earned ever like and favorite. You've worked hard and you've put some good work out there for us to read. Yes, there are other writes who're better...but there's always someone better out there. Doesn't mean you don't have your own value and worth though.
Please, keep working at your stories! Even if it takes you ages please don't give up. It takes me forever to get out a single chapter of my own work, and I know there are many things I could do to make them even better if I was a better writer...but I'm at where I'm at-and we won't get better unless we try.
...and that turned into my own little...shpeel/preaching thing about how I want to see you continuing your work and how you shouldn't give up...uuuh yeah well anyways congratulations on the 500 followers and merry Christmas!
