Aww. First kiss. That was extra cute.
From the sounds of it, Midnight was trying to make herself useful even before she ever officially met John. Given her situation and the work she put in to fit in, it makes me wonder if she wouldn't have lifted her tail to be able to stay even if she didn't want to. I think she's more shocked about having real feelings for him.
This is why I enjoy slow burn stories. The payoff is so worth the wait when it finally lands.
This is just greatly written. Too many writers go directly into sexual tension rather than the emotional unity, and I am glad you've set this pace.
That was a sweet moment, and I’m enjoying this journey immensely. Your pacing of this relationship is superlative.
God, this chapter made me feel like one of the NASA scientists in the pit when we landed on the moon.
So cute.
Aw, heck. Midnight seems to be losing some of her vitriol and spit. Perhaps this is coming from her "Twilight" side of her brain implants, yes?
Just don't be stupid, John. She's reaching out to you...
Damn, are you trying to really pull on a reader's heartstrings here? (And no, I'm not going Lyra!)
Awwww, that's precious
So... Who would you pick yourself? Starla or Midnight? If Starla isn't as smart, she makes up for it in optimism. If she has physical problems, she makes up for it in a good attitude. Midnight has advantages but is going to take a lot of work to, well, learn to show some respect for someone thats just found himself caught up in her life and trying to help. Now if you wanted to throw the story for a loop, Midnight decides she doesn't want a human all over her and they agree that he treats her like more of a daughter. Then he comes home with a Lyra model, new-in-box, that absolutely loves humans. The story turns to a tragedy as Midnight realizes she was too uptight to drop the shields. She spends the rest of her days fixing cars while John and Lyra do grown-up-things. I guess I say this because in the current year, everyone swipes-left for the smallest reasons and a story warning about missing the boat might be more applicable to the times. See, eventually John loses patience. Thats how it goes. Life is short, and guys his age buy a sports car or a Lyra while they still can. (Hey, with how AI seems to be coming along, this might be possible sooner than anyone thought!)
I'm enjoying this "Taming of the Shrew" story so far. I was always expecting the FBI to raid the place like the FDA raids an Amish vegetable stand. You know though, if AI and bots were this common, I'd expect nobody out there would really care about a Luna bot. A world with that kind of tech would probably be filled with surprising machines and creatures like some kind of scene from Ready Player One.
End it. End it right here! This is prefect!
This has been phenomenal so far! Midnight is such an interesting character, and I love seeing how she’s developing. I’m looking forward to seeing where this goes!
Its surprising sometimes how little it takes to trigger a Disney song in my head.
Cue another ABBA song
This was so sweet. And very well done.
This was a great chapter!
So good.
The emotions were there but not over bearing.
It's great to see both of them acclimating to each other.
Midnight is lowering her guard. But John is also being listening to her feelings.
So good.
EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
