Spike's Love Confessions

Spike's Confession

Author's Note:

It is just an idea that popped into my head, so I have no plans to write further chapters. Constructive criticism is welcome, but any hateful comments will be ignored and removed, so please read it and tell me if you like it!

It was a sunny day in the kingdom of Equestria as the clouds were floating high in the sky. As the ray of the sun were shining upon the land of Equestria. Currently, inside Carousel Boutique, Rarity let out a sigh of relief and flipped the door's sign to mark the store closed for the day. Rarity adjusted her glasses as she smiled tiredly. Rarity looked back and noticed the work that she finished. Rarity released a deep breath of satisfaction before she made her way upstairs to the residential part of her business.

Rarity then trotted into the kitchen and switched on the stove to start boiling some water for a Pot of Tea. Rarity then sat down on her couch, levitated her sketchbook, and began doodling whatever little visions her creative mind allowed. As Rarity focused on her next project, she then heard the gentle knock on the front door of her Carousel Boutique. Rarity looked up from the sketchbook wondering who could be knocking on her door. Rarity sighed as she placed down her sketchbook and trotted toward the door downstairs. After reaching the door, Rarity opened the door and saw the young dragon, Spike holding a bouquet in his hand while wearing a red tie.

Rarity gave Spike a friendly smile, "Oh hello there, Spikey-Wikey! What brings you here?"

"H-Hey, Rarity... Flowers for you." Spike said as he was blushing and nervous before he present her with a lovely bouquet.

Rarity gasped and smiled as she was surprised she hadn't been expecting Spike to bring her beautiful flowers. The white unicorn was shocked at both the sweet gesture that Spike took his time to buy her or collect flowers for her. Rarity uses her Unicorn magic to take the bouquet from Spike's hands before sniffing the flowers, and then out of impulse, she pecked his cheek causing the young dragon to blush even more.

"Thank you, Spikey-Wikey." Rarity happily said before she sniffs the flowers again while Spike's blush grew on his cheeks.

"It was my pleasure..." Spike said with more confidence in his voice but still nervous and he was still blushing with a smile on his face, "But, I also I've something to tell you, and it's really important."

"Did, Twilight do something?" Rarity asked looking at Spike still smiling at him and using her magic to hold the flowers in the air.

"No, I just want to tell you something important..." Spike said.

"Oh? All right, tell me what's on your mind." Rarity asked.

Spike cleared his throat before he spoke, "Rarity, since the day we met, I knew we were destined to be more than just friends!" He said as he smile at her, "You mean the world to me and... I hope I also hold a special place in your heart."

"Aww of course you have a special place in my heart." Rarity said smiling at Spike, "You are like a brother to me."

"No, I mean that I love you more than a friend!" Spike said as he was still a little nervous, "I can't live with just being your friend." He said, "I need you in my life as more than that. I love you, Rarity."

Rarity sighed as she know what she has to say will end up breaking his heart, "Uh... um... Spike, sweetheart... I have to tell you that... Oh dear, how can I say this...?" She said nervously before she make a sentimental smile at Spike, "I'm flattered you've taken a shine to me, but I just don't like you that way."

"B-But you got jealous when I was spending more time with Gabby!" Spike said as he was confused and a little heartbroken, "If you don't have feelings for me, then what was the point of being jealous of Gabby and me?"

"It was a mistake of me to get jealous..." Rarity said as she felt bad about being jealous, "It was wrong of me to be jealous of you two." She said still giving Spike a sentimental smile, "Getting used to having you around made me a little jealous of you two."

"So..." Spike said as he then gulped and play with his fingers, "You don't love me?"

"I do love you, but not the way you want it." Rarity said as she has a small smile on her face as she saw the hurt in Spike's eyes, "You're like a little brother to me. You mean a lot, especially after all you always were nice to me." She said with a little sad expression on her face but she keeps a small smile, "However, I am old enough to be your older sister, so it wouldn't work between us."

"B-But I'm not a little kid... I don't look like an older dragon, but I am not a little kid." Spike said as he curve his fist angrily, "Despite being picked on by other dragons who are taller than me! But it doesn't mean I am a little kid." He exclaimed when a teardrop into his cheeks as his eyes glaze over at Rarity.

"Spike, please try to understand! You've got your whole life ahead of you, and I've got to start planning a family before I grow old and die!" Rarity said with a little sad expression on her face as she know she was hurting Spike, "Listen... You and I are ALWAYS going to be friends. Nothing will ever come between that." She said putting one of her front hoofs on the baby dragon's shoulder.

"I'm sorry that you and I won't work out and probably never will, but I love you as a brother." Rarity responds with a smile on her face as Spike then removes some tears from his eyes, "You are a special dragon, and I'm sure you will find somepony else to love." She said as she smiled at the baby dragon, "At the very least, can you just accept my friendship with you? It would mean a lot to me."

Spike looked down at the floor while Rarity was waiting for his response, and then after a few moments. Spike sighed and look at Rarity before he gave her a nod with his head making Rarity smile.

"Oh, thank you Spikey-wikey!" Rarity said as she reached over and hugged Spike before she releases him from her hug and looks at him with a smile on her face, "Remember, you'll always hold a special place in my heart, and I'm glad I could see you again." She said before she stepped a little away from Spike.

Sad but understanding, the young dragon quietly left as he had his head down. Spike felt as if he had suffered a heavy defeat from Rarity's confession. Meanwhile, Rarity was watching Spike leave as she knew her confession hurt Spike's heart. But, Rarity knows she has to be honest with him before she enters her Carousel Boutique.

This was very good. Maybe if you have another story about Spike and Rarity's relationship as brother and siser evole, that would be nice to see.

This was a nice bittersweet story for Spike. Personally, my favorite ship for him is with Ember, but I think him and Rarity is my second favorite for him, though in all likely hood it would most likely not work out for him. Most stories where Spike ends up with someone else ignore his canon crush on Rarity or just excuse it as him moving on from her. But this is a nice and mature way of him handling rejection. I think only one other story comes to mind where Spike realizes things wouldn’t work out between them, and he handles it much worse there than in this story.
