This is not a bad idea at all, but the pacing is very fast. We have next to no time to learn about our protagonist before she's unceremoniously bumped off, and then you zoom through her new foalhood at breakneck speed. As I say, this concept can work if time is taken, but the speed at which we go I have no real reason to care at all about what's going on.
