Dusk's Choice

The Sea Raiders had arrived to a certain place on Beru surrounded by some reefs. It would appear they were waiting for something, with Dusk appearing bored and impatient on the helm. Turning to Opal, he asked:

“Opal, are you sure this is the right place?”

“The energy calculated corresponds to the triangulation of…” he started.

“Okay, okay, I get it” Dusk replied. “But there’s nothing here.”

He turned to his brother who was using the hexahedron he used to located Waypoints and asked him:

“Got anything, Star?”

“All of our data points to this coordinates” he replied.

“That’s what you said last time and the time before that” Dusk told. “We’ve wasted two weeks looking for the stupid Beru Waypoint.”

“Bunch of airbrain this crew” Calabrass told.

“Waypoints are not easy to find, Dusk, you know that” Star said. “Have you forgot about what we went through with the Dezer Waypoint? We’re all doing our best.”

“Then move from best to actually getting things done, okay?” Dusk replied, coldly.

He started descending the stairs, while Star told him:

“Be patient… and a little nicer.”

But Dusk just gave him an upset look and moved away. While passing by Mallet, who was making something to eat, the latter asked him:

“Dusk want Mallet’s new seaweed stew? Cheer him up…”

“Is it Waypoint stew?” Dusk asked sarcastically. “Then no thanks!”

While he started going to the prow, Mallet replied:

“Mallet doesn’t know how to do that…”

Before Dusk could get to bow, Clover appeared before him and asked him, while holding a ball:

“Hey, dude, let’s play while we’re waiting.”

However, Dusk just passed through him and replied, while going to the rail of the bow:

“Give me a break! It’s like I’m the only one here who wants to go home. We have two Waypoints left. Are you doing this on purpose or what?!”

But none of his shipmates dared to say anything… that is until he saw something that caused him to shout:

“To port! Flying… bite-acudas?”

He was right, a school of three bite-acudas were approaching them quickly. The only difference those bite-acudas had from the others were their size what caused them to become even more intimidating.

“Oh no, giant bite-acudas!” Clover shouted.

Seeing them, Dusk took Calabrass and exclaimed:

“Calabrass, give the Eye of Blazz!”

After he and Calabrass transformed, Dusk turned to the others and told them:

“Everypony stand down and let me handle this.”

He jumped to the Plank and took flight, heading towards the giant bite-acudas. He shot a blast of fire to one of them, but it would appear it did nothing to it which started to try to bite him. While trying to escape it, Dusk asked:

“Since when bite-acudas can fly?!”

It tried to bite him, but another just went against it, allowing Dusk to avoid them.

“All this time in the Bermikun Triangle and you still don’t get it that everything’s possible?” Calabrass asked.

It was then that one bite-acuda jumped to attack the Chaos and everypony on him. Fortunately, Dusk was able to shoot a fire blast against it, sending it away. The impact caused the Chaos to lose some balance, but with Star on the helm, the ship was able to hold himself, while the bite-acuda just sank.

“Maybe these rascals just don’t like water” Calabrass said to Dusk.

With him seeing the other two approaching and, knowing the Eye of Blazz couldn’t do much for them and taking Calabrass’ suggestion to the heart, Dusk said:

“Give me the Eye of Beru!”

Calabrass did what he said and they both transformed. Dusk then advanced towards the two bite-acudas and, when they prepared to attack him, he jumped highly as much as he could, using then a blast of water from Calabrass to pull him up. After he got the altitude he needed, Dusk shot water against one bite-acuda and then against the other, detransforming and landing on the Plank after that. The two bite-acudas, after being hit by the water blasts, just moved away quickly. Putting Calabrass back on his scabbard and started returning to the Chaos.

“Quick thinking, captain” Calabrass replied. “Surely bailed out the dead weight.”

“Right…” Dusk said, while jumping out of the Plank onto the prow, letting it return to its place. “Which means we can get back to…”

“Sorry, Dusk, but the Waypoint energy has disappeared” Opal told him.

“What?!” Dusk exclaimed.

“Let’s take it down a notch” Clover told him, appearing next to him. “Or fifteen. We’re all a bunch of good friends on the same boat, here.”

“Maybe that’s the problem” Dusk replied, moving away after that and going to his cabinet, closing the door loudly.

Sometime later, when the sun was setting, they returned to Marituga, where the lighthouse was casting an intense light because of all the Waypoints that have already been opened. Once they arrived there, Dusk started getting down, while saying:

“I’m going for a walk… alone.”

He had added that once he noticed Mallet wanting to go with him. Dusk then started moving away.

“He does know he is with Calabrass, right?” Clover asked to the others.

“Why is Dusk so angry?” Mallet asked.

“It’s my fault” Opal said. “I couldn’t find the Beru Waypoint. I just hope he doesn’t want to replace me.”

“Nah!” Clover replied. “Where else would we find a princess with a knack for tinkering?”

“He will come back” Star reassured. “He just needs to calm down. I know what he’s feeling right now… The more we come close to our goals, it’s easier to lose hope when we have an obstacle that may seem impossible to cross. But don’t worry. If he doesn’t come around, I can handle him.”

Dusk had gone to the beach, watching the sun setting with Calabrass stuck in the sand.

“When I was a pirate, I spent half of the time wanting to throw my crew overboard” the magical sword said, wanting to comfort Dusk for his behavior with the others.

“I’m sick of this place, Cal!” Dusk vented out, while lying down and looking into the sky. “I want to go home… With Star, my parents, my sisters… Hanging out in my room, surfing in the golden waves of Bright Shore… I’m sick of being the captain!”

After a brief pause, Dusk sighed and sit up and said to Calabrass:

“You must think I’m a loser.”

“You’re not worse than the first time we met, lad” Calabrass replied.

“Yeah, but… it still feels like we’re in a mess” Dusk said.

“But you’re less of a loser” Calabrass told.

“Good talk” Dusk replied, finally making a smile.

Suddenly, Dusk started hearing a strange sound. Getting up, he asked Calabrass:

“Do you hear that?”

“Your whining?” Calabrass asked. “Aye.”

Dusk heard the same noise again. It was like a siren that was resonating in his head. Turning around, Dusk was able to know where it was coming from: the lighthouse.

“It’s Freonus!” he exclaimed. “You know, the lighthouse guardian.”

“Hold up!” Calabrass said, while Dusk took him up. “I don’t hear a thing. It might be a trap.”

“Freonus isn’t an enemy” Dusk replied, while putting Calabrass on his scabbard. “

“Well, we have very different definitions of enemy” Calabrass replied, while Dusk started to run towards the lighthouse.

After they arrived to the entrance of the lighthouse, Dusk remembered the last time he and his friends entered and how Freonus tested them.

“We’ve passed his trials once, we can do it again” Dusk said.

With that, he opened the doors and entered, starting running towards the top of the lighthouse. Once he reached it, he found Freonus once again.

“I’m happy to see you again, Prince Dusk Storm” he told.

“Me too… I hope” Dusk replied.

“I have followed your adventures, Dusk” Freonus said. “You’re closer to your goal than ever before.”

“At least someone else thinks so…” Dusk said.

“You doubt it” Freonus observed.

“I feel like we’ll never make it” Dusk confided. “Like… we’re not strong enough.”

“Do you think you’d be better off alone?” Freonus questioned.

“Right now… I wish that this has never happened” Dusk confessed.

“Do things happen by chance, Dusk, or do we provoke them?” Freonus asked.

“A fine chat this” Calabrass said. “Come now, Mr. Twenty Questions, get to the point and don’t have me boy throw me into a hole again.”

“I didn’t you bring you here” Freonus told. “You came to me.”

“You called me” Dusk replied.

“Calabrass, did you hear me call?” Freonus quizzed.

“Hum… no” he answered.

“You’re looking for another way, Dusk” Freonus said. “Your mind obviously hope that I can help you.”

“I’m confused…” Dusk said. “Can you help me or not?”

Instead of answering his question, Freonus just extended his hand and made a vortex appear.

“Where does that go?” Dusk asked.

“It’s another way” Freonus answered, while making a slight smile.

Dusk approached the vortex, but Calabrass told him:

“Hold on, it’s a rather nebulous explanation.”

“What do we have to lose?” Dusk asked back.

And so the young unicorn prince got closed to the vortex, looking one more time to Freonus before passing through it which closed soon after.

When Dusk reached the other side, he fell on sand and so he noticed where he was: the Golden Shore, right at his beach house.

“Calabrass…” he said, smiling, while getting up. “I’m home…”

“That’s impossible!” Calabrass exclaimed. “It’s witchcraft!”

Dusk then saw his mother there, staring at the ocean.

“Oh my gosh…” he said. “Look, it’s… my mom. This is insane! I’m home!”

“Dusk…”

“Freonus sent me home!” Dusk exclaimed, still overjoyed with the fact he had returned back. “Mom!”

He approached her, running.

“Mom!”

But it would appear she didn’t listen to him.

“Mom?”

“Star… Dusk…” she said, sadly, while looking at the sea.

“Mom!” Dusk called, while trying to get her attention, but to not avail. “But… why isn’t she seeing me?”

“I knew we couldn’t trust that light bulb head” Calabrass said. “If it was that easy to get out of the Triangle, I would have done it ages ago.”

“Is all this real or not?” Dusk asked, confused.

“Probably another blasted test” Calabrass replied. “Maybe you’re supposed to throw your mother into the ocean this time.”

“A test…” Dusk said. “But what can it be?”

Dusk then headed towards the beach house and got in. Seeing its inside caused Dusk to travel back to the time before he and Star went to the Triangle.

“Everything is exactly how it was before” he said. “It’s so weird…”

He then got in his room, something he was so glad to see.

“Look, Cal, it’s my room!” he exclaimed, while going to lie down on his bed. “Ah, a real bed at last!”

Using his magic, Dusk caused a radio nearby to play some of his favorite music.

“And also real music!” he exclaimed, while enjoying it.

While he was dancing, something fell and Dusk looked to it. It was the necklace he used with the Eye of Beru. He picked it up, thinking about how everything changed when he was using that necklace at the time he was surfing when that storm happened.

It was then that he heard hoofsteps. Getting out of his room, he saw his mother coming inside and going to pick up a family photo they have taken when they finally got reunited. Tears were on her eyes, as she said:

“Star… Dusk… I miss you so much…”

Heartbroken, Dusk approached his crying mother, but it would appear she didn’t see him at all.

“It’s like I’m a ghost” he said.

But then he noticed something. It was the magic calendar that it was in the living room. It was marking the same day he and Star had gone to the Triangle. With all that, an idea came to him.

“Now I get it… This was the same day me and Dusk went to the Triangle. Sometime later. Maybe… if I put the Eye of Beru back on the necklace and concentrate just enough… maybe I can reverse things. Calabrass, give me… the Eye of Beru, please.”

“Hold on a sec” Calabrass replied. “Freonus is crafty and wicked in his way. Don’t forget when we fought that shadow monster at the day we met him.”

“I know, but…” Dusk started. “I’m sorry, Cal. I’m just so desperate. And it’s not only my selfish desire. Look at my mom. She’s devastating. She probably thinks she won’t see her sons again. If at least I can make it back home, that will make her a little happier. Besides, I know Star will find a way to get back. He’s a hero, after all. Compared to him… I’m just a loser.”

“Hey, kid, you’re anything but a loser” Calabrass reassured him. “You’ve become a great captain. I bet Star shares the same opinion as me, despite our differences. But I get you’re feeling. We may have shared a lot of experiences, but… you’re home.”

And so, he made the Eye of Beru get out of him and delivered it to Dusk.

“Thanks…” Dusk told him, grateful.

And so Dusk placed the Eye of Beru on the necklace, but, before he could do anything, he told Calabrass:

“I’ll never forget you, buddy.”

“Me neither, Dusk Storm” the talking sword replied.

Dusk then started to focus on the Eye of Beru his desire to come back home. Once he did that, the Eye started glowing.

Back in the Sea of Beru, the other Sea Raiders were still waiting for Dusk. His delay was starting to cause some worries on them.

“Perhaps he found some trouble” Opal commented.

“No, he’ll be back” Clover replied to her, while standing on the base of one of the sails. “No worries there, mate.”

It was then the all crew noticed the light at the top of the mast. After it was gone, Star asked:

“What was that?!”

Clover went up there to find out and shouted:

“Calabrass!”

It was really him, on the same place he was before he had met Dusk.

“How did you get there?” Opal asked him from the deck, while she was joined by Star and Mallet.

“Where’s Dusk?” Clover asked.

“Can someone get me down here first?!” Calabrass replied to them, in his grumpy voice.

While Clover started to try to pull him out, Star flapped his wings to be at Calabrass’ level and asked:

“What happened to you, Calabrass?”

But the sword didn’t answer the question right away, as he didn’t know how to do it.

At Bright Shore, Twilight was looking at the picture of her family, when she heard a voice saying:

“Mom?”

Hearing Dusk’s voice caused Twilight to get out of her sadness abruptly, what made her to be unable to move for a moment, thinking she was dreaming. But when she turned around and saw his younger son staring at her, tears of joy came to her eyes, while she smiled.

“Dusk!” she exclaimed.

The two of them went to hug each other. After the hug ended, Twilight told him:

“I was so scared I wouldn’t see you again… and your brother. Wait… where’s he? Why isn’t he with you?”

“Calm down, mom, I can explain everything” Dusk said. “Where’s dad?”

“He’s helping the others on finding Heartbeat” she replied. “We got to know that you were to the Bermikun Triangle and she is the one that knows the most about it.”

“And we went there” Dusk told. “Actually, we’ve been there for months! But I got back.”

“What about Star?”

“Star… he’s still there. I… I found a way to return home, but… it was only for me. I… left him in the Triangle… I’m sorry, mom, but… I just couldn’t stand be there for much longer and… I knew Star would be able to get out… to get everypony there out. I know it sounds selfish, but…”

But before he could continue, Twilight embraced Dusk again, but now in a way to comfort him, while saying:

“It’s okay, my son… I’m here for you.”

Back in Beru, Calabrass told the others about Dusk’s choice. After he ended, Clover, who was sitting on the mast beside him, asked:

“Dusk abandoned us?”

“Oh no… don’t tell it’s all my fault” Opal said.

“Calabrass, you’re missing a stone” Star noticed. “Where’s the Eye of Beru?”

“Dusk took it back” Calabrass replied. “It was the one thing that brought him here, so it was the only thing that could return him.”

“Dusk come back?” Mallet asked the old pirate.

“I’m not sure about that, metalhead” Calabrass replied. “Captain is back on home, now.”

“But, without the Eye of Beru, we won’t be able to leave the Triangle” Star said. “And we won’t be able to see Dusk either… Or our families.”

That statement caused an immense silence to the other members of the Sea Raiders. Seeing them glooming like that, Calabrass told them:

“Come on, now, what are you: fresh water pirates?! You’re the Sea Raiders and friends of the mighty Calabrass, so behave like that! Dusk may not be here, but that’s not excuse. Listen to me, wingy, your brother couldn’t stand the despair, but he believes you can find a way to get out of this place.”

Star got caught by surprise by Calabrass’ words, but, at the same time, got inspired by them. Calabrass was right: they couldn’t give up now.

“So, what are you waiting for, guys?” he asked to the others. “Let’s get Calabrass out of there!”

“Yeah!” they all replied.

At the Bright Shore, dark thundering clouds covered the sky, while the wind started to blow harder. Inside the beach house, Dusk told Twilight about some of his adventures inside the Triangle.

“So, this Golden Bones, the general of the skeletons… you fought him?” Twilight asked.

“Big time!” Dusk replied. “With Cal, Star and the rest of my crew.”

“I see…” Twilight replied, with a chuckle. “It’s good to see you had a great adventure. Luckily you came back.”

Despite knowing he could have come back along with his brother, Dusk couldn’t help but make a slight smile to his mother. It was then that a thunder caught his attention. The Eye of Beru, which was left on the necklace on a table started to glow.

Dusk approached it and then noticed something that was on the wall. It was a nautical chart that Heartbeat had given him some time ago and that Dusk used to adorn the living room. Taking it with his magic to have a closer look, he noticed something that looked familiar: three triangular stones with something at the center that looked like the Beru symbol.

“This chart… It shows the location of the Beru Waypoint!” he exclaimed. “It was always here?! Of course it was! Heartbeat was the one who gave it to me!”

Seeing the look on his son’s face, Twilight realized what he was thinking. He had the same look she once had when finding the solution to many crisis she and her friends had already faced. It would appear he was about to go back.

“Let me guess” she said. “You’ll return to the Triangle.”

“I have to, mom” Dusk replied. “This is exactly what we need for all of us to escape and it was right here. That’s why Freonus sent me here.”

Taking the necklace, he put it on and said:

“I can’t abandon them, especially when I have the solution we need. It’s not just for Star. It’s for all of my friends. I got tired and frustrated and I abandoned them. I wouldn’t be able to get back knowing what I have done.”

“I understand” Twilight said. “And you know what? I won’t stop you.”

“Really?”

“Yes, after all, it runs in a family. We are protectors and we must act like one. Your crew and the ponies of the Bermikun Triangle need you. Just promise me you won’t stop fighting.”

“I won’t” Dusk promised. “I’ll come home, dad, along with Star.”

“I know you will” Twilight said, while putting a hoof over his shoulder. “As much as it hurts, I believe in you, son.”

The fact his mother said those words made Dusk draw a big smile on his face. Now he knew he could do anything.

Taking one of his surfboards, Dusk went outside and, before going to the sea, waved goodbye to Twilight who waved him back from the entrance of the beach house. After that, Dusk got in the water, went onto his board and started surfing the waves that were starting to be formed.

“I love you, Dusk!” Twilight shouted. “And your brother too! Please, tell him that for me!”

“I will!” Dusk shouted back. “And I love you too!”

The Eye of Beru around his neck started to glow with more intensity, as the dark clouds approached, forming a shape of a skull. A wave was formed right in front of him and a portal opened on it. Without hesitating, Dusk jumped into it and, once he did it, it closed behind him.

“Good luck, son…” Twilight said, after seeing him disappear.

“I wouldn’t be too worry about him” a voice said behind her.

Twilight turned around and saw Heartbeat who was with Bright Night.

“Heartbeat!” Twilight said. “Blue and the others were looking for you!”

“I know, that’s why I avoided them” she replied. “I knew they wanted to know about the Bermikun Triangle. They probably figured I was responsible for what happen.”

“What is true” Night Night replied. “You gave the Eye of Beru to Prince Dusk so that he could go to the Bermikun Triangle.”

“Okay, normally, I would demand you to explain yourself and, if the excuse wasn’t good enough, I and the others would give you an even greater punishment than the one before” Twilight said. “But now… I just don’t have the energy for that. Golden told me and Blue that you gave Dusk the Eye of Beru so that he could go to the Bermikun Triangle.”

“Yes, because he is one that can fix it” Heartbeat replied. “I mean, that place has been put on hold for too long.”

“In a way, I have to agree with Heartbeat” Bright Night said. “Through our connection to the Bermikun Triangle, we’ve been able to notice the changes he is doing there. And with him and the others about to open the Beru Waypoint, they will be one step closer to open the Bermikun Triangle. Just be patient, princess, and have hope… cause that’s the only thing you and everypony else can do right now.”

And with that, the two Generals teleported away.

In Beru, Star, Opal, Mallet and Clover were trying to pull Calabrass out of the mast. The Chaos had split the sail to be easier to do it.

“Come on, you bunch of landlovers” Calabrass told them. “Pull harder!”

They tried to do it, but Calabrass was really stuck to the mast, causing the others to just fall to the deck.

“Need a hoof there?” a voice asked.

They looked up and saw, to their delight, Dusk, standing on the bow.

“Dusk?” Star asked. “Is that you?!”

“You can bet on that, big brother” he replied.

“Dusk’s back!” Clover exclaimed, appearing beside him. “You almost gave me a heart attack.”

“What are you doing here, kid?” Calabrass asked Dusk.

Smiling, Dusk climbed the mast until he got to Calabrass and replied to him, while taking the necklace with the Eye of Beru:

“Ah, I just thought you’d never make it without me.”

Seeing the Eye of Beru and noticing Dusk was really there to stay, Calabrass just said:

“Yum-yum!”

Dusk released the Eye of Beru from the necklace and the stone just floated towards Calabrass and placed itself on its place. That allowed Dusk to remove Calabrass and hold him, while the blade appeared.

“Ragnasala!” Mallet shouted, happily, expressing what everyone was feeling at that moment.

“If I have to go home one day, it will be at the same time as you” Dusk told. “We lose together, we win together.”

He sled down the mast and landed on the deck and then addressed Star and Opal, while putting Calabrass on his scabbard:

“Star, Opal, I’m sorry. I was being a major jerk for no reason. I was just thinking on myself.”

“Don’t worry about that” Opal replied. “We all have bad days.”

“You had me on jerk” Star said. “Just don’t let it happen again.”

“I think I can do that” Dusk replied. “Oh, and P.S. mom told me to tell you she loves you.”

“Thanks, little brother” Star thanked. “At least she came to have one of us to tell her we were fine. At least one good thing came out of this mess.”

“Actually, that’s two good things” Dusk rectified. “You were right. We were sitting right on top of the Beru Waypoint.”

And he delivered to him the chart that he had found. Taking it and observing it, Star asked:

“Where did you get this chart?”

“From the beach house” Dusk replied. “Turns out Heartbeat had given it to me before.”

“That little rascal…” Star said. “She always finds a way to surprise us.”

“I can agree on that, laddie” Calabrass said.

“We didn’t find the Waypoint because I was impatient” Dusk said. “If we had waited, the Waypoint would have appeared.”

“Of course!” Star exclaimed, getting what his brother was trying to say. “The tides!”

With all that, the Chaos activated himself and, with his captain behind the helm with the others by his side, waited for Dusk’s command:

“Chaos, set a course for the Beru Waypoint, please.”

And so, Chaos moved away from the docks of Marituga, joined the sails and advanced towards the open sea. Arriving to the location, the Sea Raiders started waiting for the appearance of the Waypoint.

Looking to her device, Opal said:

“The energy calculation are positive.”

“Nothing in sight, captain!” Clover claimed at the top of the mast.

“It’s not time yet” Dusk replied. “We’ll wait.”

And so they did just that. Clover looked so bored after sometime, but then he noticed something bubbling in the water and said:

“At port!”

And so the Beru Waypoint appeared from the waters and started go up into the sky. It looked like the Dezer Waypoint, but it was blue and had the Beru symbol instead.

“It was hard to find but it appears to not have a guardian” Dusk commented.

“Don’t celebrate too soon, kid” Calabrass warned him. “Nothing on this journey is ever easy.”

Dusk walked to the tip of the bow holding Calabrass and then asked him:

“Ready, Calabrass?”

“Never been more ready, captain” he replied.

And so Dusk whistled and the Plank was activated and launched, with the young captain jumping onto it. They flew up to the Waypoint and, when Dusk was close enough, he jumped and prepared to insert Calabrass in the lock. At that moment, however, the Waypoint started to return to water and then sank in it. With them falling, Dusk could only do one thing and said:

“Calabrass, give me the Eye of Beru!”

They transformed and then dived. As Dusk followed the sinking Waypoint, the Sea Beast appeared, proving to be the Waypoint’s guardian. It’s appearance and movement caused the water at the surface to become unrested and shake the Chaos.

“I think it’s moving under water” Star said. “Dusk must need help.”

Having said that, Star used his magic to make a bubble around his head to be able to breath under water and then dived. Meanwhile, Opal, Mallet and Clover went to the helm and activated Chaos’ submarine mode, with the ship diving as well.

As Dusk continued to try to reach the Waypoint, the Sea Beast extended its tentacles to him, grabbing one of his hind hooves and preparing to send him into its mouth. It was then that a magic beam hit it in the eye, with that beam having come from Star who was sided soon after by the Chaos who shot against the Sea Beast as well, causing it to let Dusk go. However, the Sea Beast started to swim away towards the bottom of the sea.

“Hey, come back and fight, you fat codfish!” Dusk exclaimed.

But the Sea Beast didn’t listen, as it approached the Beru Waypoint and put it inside its mouth.

“Nothing is ever easy” Calabrass reminded Dusk.

Dusk followed the Sea Beast with Star and Chaos nearby.

“Be careful, Dusk” the older brother warned the younger one. “You’re not a fish.”

“Neither are you” Dusk replied. “And Opal and illuminate the way with the Chaos.”

After Calabrass cleared his voice, Dusk added:

“Oh, and we have Calabrass too.”

They continued to go deeper and deeper. But it was then that the pressure started to affect the Chaos, with the glass around Opal, Mallet and Clover starting to crack and the engine of the ship starting to fail as well.

“Are you okay, Opal?” Star asked.

“Well… no” she replied. “The pressure is too much for the Chaos!”

“Go back” Star told her, while Dusk made Calabrass to irradiate enough light to illuminate the way. “We can continue without you.”

And so the Chaos started to return back to the surface, while Dusk and Star continued to follow the Sea Beast. They reached the bottom, but they didn’t have any sign of the Sea Beast.

“Ah, we lost it!” Dusk exclaimed, frustrated. “We can’t see much. It can be anywhere.”

As they looked around, Star told, while pointing to a cratter:

“He’s hiding in there.”

They looked inside and saw the Sea Beast sleeping, with the Waypoint not so far from it at the furthermost corner.

“I’ll draw him out” Star told Dusk. “The Waypoint is inside.”

“Be careful” Dusk said, while Star advanced.

“I got nothing to fear” he replied. “I have my little brother and Calabrass with me.”

When Star was close enough, he attacked the Sea Beast with another blast and started to swim away, with the creature following him soon after. After they were away, Dusk came out of his hiding place and got in the crater, advancing towards the Waypoint. However, as they were getting closer, the Eye of Beru started to flick.

“Oh-oh, I have some bad news, captain” Calabrass said. “I think we’re running out of juice.”

“Not now, Cal, we’re almost there!” Dusk exclaimed.

“Sorry” he said.

And, with Calabrass out of energy, the transformation was undone. Without it, Dusk found himself unable to breath. He turned to Star who was still fighting the Sea Beast. The alicorn prince noticed that his brother was in trouble, but he was not the only one, as the Sea Beast noticed Dusk as well and started advancing towards him.

With no other choise, Dusk decided to use all the air he still got to make it to the Waypoint and open it, as that would destroy the creature that guarded it. But, before he could insert Calabrass in the lock, the Sea Beast grabbed him and pulled him in a way that caused him to drop Calabrass, throwing him away.

Star, seeing his little brother unconscious and unable to breath, wanted to go help him, but that would not be possible with the Sea Beast there, still going after him. He knew there was one thing he should do. Looking to the Waypoint, he saw that Calabrass was right on there. Noticing the Sea Beast was about to devour Dusk, Star swam as fast as he could.

As the Sea Beast closed its mouth around Dusk, Star arrived to the Waypoint, grabbed Calabrass and inserted him inside the lock, turning him. This caused a pillar of light to be released and the Sea Beast to disappear. After that, Star, holding Calabrass, swam to get Star and take him back to the surface.

Back in the Chaos, Mallet performed CPR on Dusk, causing him to spit out the water in him and be brought back. After he had spat out the last water he still had, Dusk found himself be embraced by Mallet, Opal and Clover, while the former said:

“Dusk alive! Mallet made miracle.”

Star chuckled and then looked to the tower of light created by the opening of the Waypoint. Dusk approached him and asked:

“We did it? Wow… Thank you, Star.”

“Thank you for coming back… captain” Star replied.

“Arr, my blade is numb!” Calabrass exclaimed, while leaning against the stairs to the prow.

Dusk went to grab him and said:

“One more Waypoint to open…”

Turning to his crew, he asked them:

“Are you ready to go home?”

They all cheered for that question and Dusk said:

“Let’s finish it… together!”

“Yeah!”
