Because Cinch didn't just die, she was murdered in cold blood, so between that and the heightened emotions of the night before, I'm not shocked.
And that's why you're not a monster. A monster would have killed Blueblood and Cinch's Shadows without hesitation.
Exactly.
I wouldn't be shocked.
Agreed. Cinch was a remorseless sociopath, a narcissist and a control freak.
... See, that's tricky. She deserved to die, but whether or not it was right for them to murder her in cold blood is another story.
Scarlets. And, yeah, that's what makes this tricky.
Gotta keep Rarity stable as best you can.
She used to be. But, she still retains mostly amicable relations with their boss.
Observant.
They gave you shit for it, didn't they?
Forget what they think. You did what was right.
Now isn't that interesting?
You, have no idea.
It is interesting that they DO still have a healthy friendship.
She's smart like that.
Worth it.
Reasons, hm?
Fair.
Yeah, that checks out.
She's really not.
Teenagers.
She's not dumb?
You have no idea.
I, don't know what that means.
Fair enough.
Rarity, you NEED to stop blaming yourself for the assholery of others.
THANK YOU!
Bingo.
You have no idea.
Maybe, but you are.
Gotta love that freedom of choice.
I mean, fair.
That's, oof.
Same energy.
Scot free.
That's the power of friendship, baby!
Of course.
This is Rarity Propaganda. You're right, but, still.
So Rarity's the Hanged Man. Or, Woman. Interesting.
Cue the victory fanfare!
You do. I hate to say this, but you DO need serious therapy.
Nope. She meant every word.
All of a sudden.
And there it is. good ol' Anguished Declaration Of Love.
Aaaw! That's so sweet!
I love how upfront Applejack is about all this.
This is sweet.
Character Development. Gotta love it.
This was great. Not the whole dead principal thing, but it was great.

The whole dead Principal thing is about to get really interesting.
11331608
Spoiler alert. It wasn't.
Well, gotta say, expert writing as always.
I really don't mind Cinch dying, because once you see one Cinch, you've seen them all. Blackmailing cunts that will do ANYTHING to get ahead in life.
As for Rarity, the character development is amazing, and I think Apple Bloom and Scootaloo might be onto something, and that's no bueno. Also, Luna scenes when?
Amazing fallout chapter...now we wait for the other fallout chapter.
Well, it was a long and difficult journey but Rarity has been saved. Now it is up for her to decide what she is going to do with her second chance, and if she is going to be okay going forward. With the right help though, I am sure she will be okay.
11331771
I'm curious as to how you would have solved the Cinch problem.
11332457
Big Mac already said he was doing some digging right? To find out how to get here on corruption charges? So there's already one part of it. The other thing? Okay she has Rarity's pictures of her gang bang... turn that on her and claim that she had set the situation up because she herself is angry and jealous nobody looked at her the way they look at Rarity. Threaten her seat of power and force her to be in the same situation Rarity is in. And if she still reveals it? Then be willing to go down with the ship which would mean allowing more people to WITHDRAW funds and glory to the school she sought to 'protect' and 'help'.
11332478
I see your point, but, to play Devil's Advocate, they did not have time. Cinch's Shadow said she was willing to reveal the photos out of spite. Also, it's likely Big Mac's bosses would catch wind of this, and Rarity's past would be dug into. Meaning that she would go down too. And the Scarlets too.
11332479
Oh yes and how much of a juicy PR nightmare that would be for them to just try and claim that the girl who was trying to fight and change from a gangster to a better person and the noble cop family that took her in to help with that are the bad guys.
And the spite thing is what I meant. Go against what she thinks and EVEN EXPOSE YOURSELF as such. Steal the light from under her nose and look the more noble for it since it would place the glory on you and cast her in a negative light.
11332503
I see your point, and, if they had even one more day, they could have pulled that off, maybe. But, it was already in in the early morning hours of the 9th by the time they beat Cinch's Shadow. I don't think they would have had time to do that, to say nothing of having no proof that Cinch set it up.
11332506
So that's it? Just killing her was the only option? Letting her get away with it forever basically?
11332520
Except she's not getting away with it. Because she's dead. Ding dong the bitch is dead.
11332521
Yes but now they can only find out about her crimes BECAUSE she's dead and thus can never be properly or fully punished by the law for what she did to Raroty and countless others. Just because she's dead doesn't mean they actually beat her. They just had no other choice to stop her plans.
11332523
I disagree. She's stopped because she's dead. She can never hurt anyone again.
11332525
Just because someone like her died doesn't mean that their legacy or the pain they inflicted are gone. Not to mention it essentially meant they HAD to play it her way or the Highway. She still won in the end and I don't see how that's a real victory.
11332527
Except she didn't win. Because she died before she could expose Rarity. She didn't care about anyone except herself. She was a narcissistic, sadistic sociopath who took pleasure from hurting people.
11332530
.... forget it. Just nevermind.
11332531
I'm afraid I don't comprehend how her being dead equals her winning.
11332532
Hence why I said. Forget it. I'm not wasting my time on this anymore. You wanna celebrate her death be my guest.
11332536
I'm just trying to understand your logic.
11332537
I laid it out pretty clear.
Cinch's death... I'm not saying it was the wrong choice, or even that it wasn't an obvious choice. But it shouldn't have been an easy choice. In the end, it really was Cinch's life or the other lives she'd ruin in a position of power, but Neo Strega doesn't even show regret that it was necessary. That's what makes all the difference. I believe in fates worse than death, but death itself is pretty bad already.
11332538
11332537
Seeing discussion like this does show that her death had the impact I wanted. In my opinion, I side with Trixie. Cinch WAS going to expose Rarity, and legally, Macintosh would have taken the fall too. They were 100 percent out of time.
That said, Neo Strega still killed someone in cold blood, and didn't feel any emotion about it. Yeah they saved Rarity's life, but still...
I wanted a situation where the idea of justice is put into question. Killing Cinch in that moment was the only way to stop her, but does that make it right?
And taking away our bias for Rarity (who is best girl don't @ me), she's still a criminal, she still broke school rules, and she's still being protected by a deal that effectively means she's free when she SHOULD be in prison. Regardless of her intentions at the time, and regardless of anyone's feelings, she did very bad things, and got away with them.
So ultimately, no one was right. This situation was so complicated that really, there WAS no justice. The fact Rarity is safe is nothing short of a miracle. But in terms of the question "Was it right to kill Cinch?", that's about to get REALLY complicated.
11332578
Couldn't have said it better myself.
11332585
The thing is Rarity did feel guilty about her actions and has worked hard to atone and make up for said actions. It's clear as day that criminal or not she has effectively paid for what she did and who she was. She slips up yes but she still wants to try and atone for her time as Dirty Diamond. And this comes from a spot of non bias as RD is true best girl.
It’s taking me forever to catch up, but I’m now in Halloween
And there's Azure's OTP Rarijack ship.
11332527
Winning the battle but losing the war. Otherwise known as a pyrrhic victory. Cinch's death being necessary in the end is indeed something to be regretted. But the act itself? Cinch was a monster masquerading as a person. Not only blackmailing Rarity, but also protecting a known rapist and abuser because of his father's financing of the school. Such an animal had no place in the world of academia. For all her talk of bringing Canterlot High prestige, Cinch was only ever looking out for herself, and the world is better off with her dead. She found herself in a position where she was functionally able to be above the law, and so extrajudicial measures were required to bring all her bad karma upon her head at once.
