9084033 It's a bit of a problem, mentality wise, when coming from a culture that has just one sapient species, where you discover that "the one" for you might not actually be the same species or size as yourself. She can say the words, but she has a little ways to come to get the full conviction of her head to match her heart.
i have a question wouldn't be easier to say lyra is adopted?
Joyce: if tufts was okay with it, would you take up dating again? You know, for fun.
Part of the problem with Joyce and Tufts is that she still might very well see him as just an animal, perhaps a very smart animal, but an animal all the same. If he's going to actually keep her interest he needs to open up about what he actually is and find some way of becoming something more or her size and species; especially since Joyce seems to get the attention of most pegasus stallions she comes in contact with and clearly likes the attention.
9084420 It's easy for ponies (like people) to fear something they don't know. Any stallion who looks past her wings and fur as something strange will see a young mare with some impressive (if mostly untrained) flying ability. That said, she has spent the majority of her life in college so far, studying as hard as possible. The relationship that resulted in Robin and Lyra fell apart mostly because she was too focused on her schooling, and when she had a spare moment, it was devoted to her children. She might just have a second chance at spending her life with someone (or somebat) at her side.

yes she has changed in body now her mind needs to come to grips with things.
only time will help with this.
9084550 Indeed.
9084550
She also needs to come to grips with the fact she has been mentally de-aged as well. She still has all her life experiences and knowledge (as much as these matter now considering she knows nothing about Equestria), but she has the mentality of a seventeen year old in addition to the body. She's lost some maturity. She knows from experience the pitfalls of being that age, but if she doesn't recognize that she is mentally that age she may well fall into them without realizing it.

I can see wear this will really come to play with her trying to get in to medical school.
she is going to have to prove her self and as you say yes she has the experience of age but it is taped in a 17 year old body that still needs to grow up a few years mentally and physically i can see Tufts slowing her down a good bit, but we now come back to a body that is 17 with all the hormones.
trust me a young mare in her first heat is a problem i have dealt with that a few times.
9084845 A point of order there. We know ponies don't have seasonal heat. In the show ponies have birthdays all over the year—if they had a seasonal heat, all the birthdays would be clustered around one or two months. And, as some of you may have noticed, I am sticking as close as I can to canon with this. Just filling in gaps, so to speak.
9084845
I also think those first two years of classes might be good for her. She knows nothing about pony anatomy, nothing about common pony illnesses or how to recognize them, no idea how a pony's biological magic system works or interacts with the body. These are all things she needs to be familiar with that most first year students would at least have some knowledge of coming in. She understands a lot of advanced concepts in medicine that give her a great grasp on medical theory but lacks base knowledge at the moment.
9084870
i am thinking the same thing. she just need to mare up and do the work.
9084866
vary true. the same with a horse they throw heat every 29 to 32 days. year round.
just at times of the year it is a quiet heat and is missed.
9084888 Still ain't going to fly. If you're after that kind of thing, I'd suggest looking elsewhere.
9084906
i was not even thinking that for your story i was just pointing out a fact.
Hmmm, but isn't Tufts' forme not limited to a bat? Perhaps he's unintentionally working to break her morality barrier and help her realize what's more important than apparent species. Maybe a changeling infiltrator could....
Actually, expecting a greater-than-one-third overlap to overcome starting at the beginning is somewhat mean. It should scale how many years she skips based on success. Oh well, we know the feeling, testing only allowed us to skip pre-calculus when we entered college....
To Lyra: do you think helping Joyce study will help your magic studies too?
Keep going! ;)
I’m sure its been mentioned before, but I never really had it hammered in one line till now. She had Mike when she was 16. She finished High School. With grades good enough to get into a university. Went to med school, decided at 24 to have another kid. And continued to finish her studies and become a doctor. This woman is freaking amazing!
Also, do Mike and Robyn have the same father? I remember it being mentioned he left, but not when.
10407967 She is, yes, but mums often are. They have the same father, he skipped out on Joyce just after Robin.
Eeeeeee! So cute! Even assuming Tufts might not be serious, it's still so romantic.
