Chapter 36 Redemption

"You're dying?" Twilight asked, shocked as the others in the room.

"Yes I literally just said that."

"Did you come just to tell us that?" Rainbow Dash said still somewhat to fight.

"No, I came here because I want to be good." Hearing that shocked the others even more as Chrysalis walked over to Twilight. Spike got in front of Twilight in case Chrysalis was up to something but Twilight who could sense her sincerity and gestured Spike to step aside. "When Payback helped me escape he did all these experiments to me messing with my system. I can feel it, it's going to be any day now and I just couldn't do it."

"Couldn't do what?" Fluttershy asked.

"I couldn't die with a guilty conscience when I knew my time was coming. I remembered all the horrible things I've done and I want to find a way to make up somehow with the time I have left. And that was why I came to you Princess Twilight."

"It is?" Twilight asked, surprised that Chrysalis called her princess.

"Yes, I may have wronged you before but you and I have a lot in common. Intelligence, talent, and a lot of determination to get what we want. So if anypony can help me see the light it's you."

"Ah geez," Rainbow Dash said as she approached Chrysalis. "Now I feel bad about attacking you. Is there something I can do to help you feel better?"

"As a matter of fact there is," Chrysalis said with a smile. Rainbow Dash was suddenly struck by Chrysalis and was flung to the other side of the room. "I feel better now."

After that Twilight took Chrysalis to see Princess Celestia and Luna via train to ask what would be the best way of helping Chrysalis see the light and the magic of friendship. Prank Master came along as well because she as usual was the most concerned about Chrysalis.

"By the Chrysalis," Twilight asked. "Where have you and the other rogues been hiding?"

"I'm not sure, I’ve been sleeping a lot. It has a lot of trees but Prank Master knows where the place is."

"I do?"

"Yes you were the one that told Mad Alicorn where to take us."

"I did?"

"How could you not remember?!"

"Sorry Chrysalis, my memory has been tricky for quite a while. Sometimes I remember something out of the blue only to forget it just as fast. And when I try to remember something too hard, usually my mind just…hey when did we get on a train?"

"So much for finding the other rogues," Twilight said.

When they arrived in Canterlot Chrysalis was taken to the castle doctor to get checked out. "Well I don't know much about changeling biology but there is most certainly something wrong," the doctor said.

"Can you fix whatever it is?" Prank Master asked.

"No I don't think I can, the damage has already been done and even magic has its limits. I doubt the royal pony sisters could do anything about it. I'd say you have about a month left Chrysalis."

"I see, honestly I was expecting less time than that."

"Well it seems her desire to repent seems most sincere. What do you think, sister?" Princess Luna asked Celestia.

"I trust Twilight's judgment so I'm fine with whatever she thinks is best to do." After that Shining Armor and Princess Cadance, who came to discuss ways to help the Crystal Empire connect more with Equestria, heard that Chrysalis herself was taken to the medical wing of the castle and had to see for themselves.

"So she really is here, I can hardly believe it," Cadance said as Shining Armor protectively stood next to her similar to how Spike acted earlier.

"Stay sharp Cadance this could be another trick."

"I don't blame you for thinking that Shining Armor after all the horrible things I've done."

"Like brainwashing me? Or pretending to be Cadance during our wedding and leading your army on the capital?"

"Yes. I've seen the error of my ways although it took longer than it should have. I wouldn't blame you if you didn't but please accept my apologies." Shining Armor was rather reluctant to accept her apology but once again Chrysalis surprised everypony and dragon in the room by getting off the bed and on the floor to bow her head.

"Oh, well I guess that's all in the past. What's done is done and all that stuff," Shining said.

"So what's the plan Twilight?" Spike asked.

"Well I want to help Chrysalis but I'm not quite sure where to start."

"I do!" Prank Master shocking the others.

"You do?" Chrysalis asked.

"Yeah you just need somepony to teach you how to be good. After that you'll be ready to make up for your past sins. And I'm just the pony to help you be good."

"Uh Clover no offense but I don't think you're quite the pony for this job," Celestia said.

"She's had my back on more than 1 occasion," Chrysalis added. "I think that could motivate her to be the best pony to help me, be good as she would put it."

"Perhaps," Luna said. "But she should have some other pony helping her out with this."

"And maybe they should all stay at Twilight's Castle so she and the others can help out if need be," Spike said.

"You know Spike that's actually a really good idea," Twilight said as she rubbed his head.

"So you're on board with my idea?!"

"Yes Clover but you'll still need some other pony helping you, and you need to start retaking your medication," Celestia said.

Suddenly Swift Sweep flew by doing his cleaning. "Hi everypony, how's it going?"

Suddenly Prank Master ran over to Swift Sweep. "Hi how ya doing, wanna help me teach a changeling queen how to be good?"

"Okay but it'll have to wait until my break."

"Prank Master, you can't just pick somepony at random."

"Actually Twilight Swift Sweep can bring out the best in ponies, myself being a good example," Luna said recalling the pleasant time she spent with him at the festival. After they explained the situation, Swift Sweep agreed to take some time off his job so he can help Prank Master help Chrysalis find her redemption.

"Just 1 more thing," Clover said as she got her a strange collar and a remote and put the collar on Chrysalis.

"What's this, a magic canceling collar that's supposed to keep me in check?"

"Something like that, this is an advanced shock collar you can still use magic but if you ever get out of hoof or just need discipline all somepony needs to do is press the button from my remote and you'll be painfully shocked." Suddenly Chrysalis screamed in pain as the collar indeed gave her a painful shock.

"Just testing," Cadance said having taking the remote from Clover.

"Why you!" Chrysalis was about to charge at Cadance but she held out the remote showing she was willing to use it again and Chrysalis backed off.

After things were settled Clover, Swift Sweep, and Chrysalis were brought to the Castle of Friendship. "All right Chrysalis, are you ready for your first day of goodness class?" Clover asked.

"I suppose I'm as ready as I'll ever be," Chrysalis said as she tried to get the shock collar off.

"Don't worry we'll start you off with something simple: Swift Sweep, get out your wallet." Swift Sweep did as Clover asked. "Okay Chrysalis what do you do if you see somepony drop their wallet?...Swift Sweep drop your wallet."

"Okay," Swift Sweep said as he dropped his wallet on the floor and Chrysalis picked it up with her magic.

"Pardon me my good stallion but I believe that you have dropped your wallet."

"Doesn't look familiar."

"What? You literally just dropped it here, take it."

"No thanks, it's not mine." Chrysalis then got mad but managed to shallow her anger after a few seconds.

"I am trying to do the right thing and be good by returning this wallet to its rightful owner," Chrysalis said through her teeth with a forced smile.

"Return what to who?" Chrysalis then smacked herself in the face out of annoyance and tried to think of what else she could try. She then used her magic to open the wallet and pull out an ID card.

"Are you Swift Sweep?"

"Yes," Swift Sweep answered right away.

"Then this is your ID?"

"Yes."

"Well, I found this ID inside this wallet and if that's the case, this must be your wallet."

"That makes sense to me," Swift Sweep answered but just stood there.

"Then take it," Chrysalis said, annoyed.

"It's not my wallet."

Chrysalis roared in absolute rage. "TAKE BACK YOUR WALLET BEFORE I RIP YOUR LEG OFF AND BEAT YOU WITH IT!" Suddenly Chrysalis was shocked as she screamed in pain.

"Uh-wrong," Clover said. "Good ponies don't rip off other pony's legs and beat them with it." Clover then grabbed the wallet and gave it to Swift Sweep who took it back right away then gestured to him to grab a nearby box. "Okay Chrysalis goodness lesson number 2 what do you do if you see somepony trying to pull up a rather large box." Clover then pointed to Swift Sweep who was trying to lift a box.

"Hello there," Chrysalis said after she made her way over to Swift Sweep. "I couldn't help but notice OW!" Swift Sweep accidentally dropped the box right on Chrysalis's head.

"Oops sorry keep going." Swift Sweep then picked up the box and Chrysalis tried to stay calm and continue where she left off.

"But notice that you're having some OUCH!" Swift Sweep had dropped it on her head again.

"Sorry keep going," Swift Sweep said as he picked up the box yet again.

"Some trouble," Chrysalis paused to once again shallow her anger. "With that box, would you like some help?"

"Yes I would thank you," Swift Sweep answered but as he did he once again dropped the box right on Chrysalis's head.

"OW! You clumsy fool! What's in that box anyhow?"

"My wallets." Chrysalis suddenly screamed as she was engulfed with rage and jumped right on Swift Sweep pummeling him. "Ah, Clover, shock her, shock her," Swift Sweep said in-between Chrysalis's punches. Clover pressed the button not once but several times.

"It shocks but it's worth it," Chrysalis said and continued to attack Swift Sweep. Reluctantly, Clover increased the voltage to max and this time when she pressed the button Chrysalis roared in pain and fell over finally stopping her assault on Swift Sweep.

"Okay, this isn't as easy as I was hoping for but we can reach our goal if we keep trying, right Swift Sweep?"

"I can't feel my face." Swift Sweep was put in half a body cast and later Chrysalis woke up.

"Okay well, what should we do next?" Clover asked when suddenly Swift Sweep grabbed the remote.

"I have an idea," Swift Sweep said as he increased the voltage to max. "I'm thinking of a number between 1 and infinity, what is it?"

"Um,” Chrysalis gulped. “221?"

"...Darn," Swift Swift said as he gave the remote back to Clover. "I never was good at this game."

"Well at least you won that so 1 out of 3, I guess, ugh this is going terrible."

"You're right," Chrysalis said as she lowered her head. "Maybe I was just fooling myself into thinking I could be good. I should just forget the whole thing and crawl into some hole and just wait to die."

"You can't just give up, what good will that do?" Clover asked, trying to encourage her friends to keep trying.

"Yeah, Clover is right," Swift Sweep added. "You might not be good at being good and at the rate you're going you probably won't ever be. But if you never try to be more than what you are, you'll only be what you are now."

"Well, I suppose you have a point, I think," Chrysalis said, like others having a little trouble understanding Swift Sweep.

"Maybe we should just call it a day for now and try to pick it up tomorrow."

"You may be right, Swift Sweep. What do you think, Chrysalis?"

"Well as much as I'd like to change my ways, the constant electro shock therapy has somewhat slowed down my enthusiasm. But there is 1 thing I'd like to do before calling it a day." Chrysalis then flew over to Swift Sweep and used her magic to heal the injuries she gave him. "Feel better?"

"Actually, yeah a lot better, maybe you're good at being good after all."

"Thank you Swift Sweep, so should we pick this up at the same time tomorrow."

"Well actually I think we should postpone it a little longer after all Hearts Warming is coming up."

"Hearths Warming, what's that?" Suddenly Swift Sweep and Clover the Clever looked at Chrysalis shocked.

"You don't know what Hearth's Warming is?" Swift and Clover asked at the exact same time.

"No," Chrysalis answered and suddenly Clover and Swift went up to her and each grabbed one of her fore legs. They had a lot to tell her.

Chrysalis got to experience her very first Hearth's Warming. She got to help set the tree and drink hot coco and Twilight even read her the story of Snowfall Frost, a pony that tried to get rid of the holiday all together.

"Snowfall doesn't like Hearth Warming so she decides to cast a spell to get rid of it all together?" Starlight asked who was also being told the story along with Chrysalis. "That seems a little extreme."

"Well you'd certainly know all about that wouldn't you?" Twilight asked Starlight who decided to remain quiet and let Twilight finish the story that Chrysalis rather enjoyed, especially the ending.

"So Snowfall hated the holiday at first but in the end she became famous for knowing how to keep it in her heart?"

"Yes Chrysalis, that's exactly how it ends."

"Can ponies keep other important things in their hearts?"

"What do you mean?"

"Can you ponies put other things in your heart, like how to make up for what you've done or how to be good? Or both?"

"Oh I see," Twilight said, getting what Chrysalis was trying to say. "That's not quite how it works but maybe I can explain how it works while you help me decorate the tree a little more."

"Okay." Chrysalis then went with Twilight but before they got to the tree they helped pass out some presents and Chrysalis even made presents of her own.

"Here Prank, here Clover I got you something." Clover the Clever then opened her present and found several tubs of chocolate deluxe pudding.

"Pudding, I love pudding! How did you know?"

"Lucky guess I suppose. Pinkie Pie made them for me."

"Well you hit the jackpot, thanks a lot." Clover then hugged her friend who returned it and then grabbed a present and offered it to her. "I got you something too." Chrysalis opened the present and found a strange long red paper she didn't recognize. "It's a bow."

"A what?"

"It's something you put around your mane to make you look prettier here I'll put it on for you." Clover then put the bow she got for her changeling friend and placed it on her head.

"How do I look?" Chrysalis asked who had some trouble seeing it since it was on her own head.

"Kind of like that 1 little farm pony since she was a bow just like that, Diamond something. Wanna go sing carols with the other ponies?"

"Okay how many times do I have to say carols?"

"Uh that's not quite how it works." As Chrysalis helped Clover look for the perfect place to have a little sample of her present Twilight was exchanging presents with Squeaky Clean. Squeaky was given several comics that Twilight had to look around for and Twilight was given a book that Squeaky had to look around for as well.

"Thanks Twilight these comics will fit right into my collection."

"You're welcome and thanks for this book, this will fit in perfectly in the library."

"You're welcome," Squeaky said as he glanced at Chrysalis and Clover the Clever or as he better knew her Prank Master.

"So those 2 are staying in the castle aren't they? Between them and Starlight are you eventually going to turn this castle into a rogue reform center or something?" Hearing that Twilight couldn't help but laugh.

"You never know it may come to that but for now it's just them and Starlight." While Twilight and Squeaky talked a little more Chrysalis made her way to Swift Sweep.

"Swift Sweep. I know this probably doesn't make up for it but I'd like to say I'm sorry for, well, beating you up."

"Oh water under the bridge, you did heal me after all plus I kind of get hurt a lot usually on the head. Besides Hearth Warming is a time for forgiving so I guess that's my gift to you. That and this." Swift Sweep then got out a present and gave it to Chrysalis.

"It's…a rock?" Chrysalis said, confused.

"Not just a rock, a geo. It looks like a plain old rock but on the inside it's filled with pretty crystals."

"Oh I see thank you," Chrysalis said as she thought that perhaps Swift Sweep gave this to her as a metaphor. After giving Chrysalis her present, Swift Sweep made his way to Princess Luna who came to the party with her sister.

"Here's to getting to share another year with the ponies we love," Celestia said.

"This year and many more," Squeaky added and kissed his beautiful princess. While that was going on Chrysalis was helping Twilight finish adding the decorations who was explaining the end of the story to Chrysalis to help her understand it a little better.

"So she didn't act like it was Hearth Warming all year but the feeling of the holiday stayed with her all year."

"I see a feeling can be so powerful that it stays with a pony all the time?"

"Yes Chrysalis you're getting it. I was kind of like her before I came to live in Ponyville. I thought making friends wasn't all that important but now I see it's one of the most important things in life. My friends and I have been through so much and we've helped each other learn and grow and as a result we've created a bond strong enough to deal with anything."

"So does that mean friends can be in your heart as well?"

"Yes, even if they aren't around you, if you remember them they're still with you." After the party Chrysalis spent more time with the ponies and learned more about friendship and love.

As the days went on she also did better with the goodness lessons and Chrysalis's wings started to sparkle as a result of her trying to reform and she learned of a changeling up in the Crystal Empire who went by the name of Thorax. Twilight, Starlight, and Spike went up to the Crystal Empire to visit Twilight's family most of all her favorite niece Flurry Heart and learned that a changeling was wandering around.

"A changeling, what's a changeling doing here of all places?" Twilight asked.

"We think they want to come after Flurry Heart," Sunburst answered. "She has so much love around her. The Crystal Empire has been filled with love ever since her crystaling."

"He's right," Shining Armor answered. "We've been on high alert ever since."

"This might be a bit much, Chrysalis wants to learn how to be good, maybe this changeling wants to do the same," Twilight answered.

"Even if Chrysalis is and honestly I still have my doubts about that it doesn't mean this changeling wants the same."

"Then perhaps we should find this changeling and see for ourselves." The royal guards would do just that and Spike helped them search per the guard's request and it was Spike himself that came across Thorax.

They became rather fast friends and Spike agreed to help him make friends with the Crystal Empire. It was touch and go for a little while but after a rather lovely song by the brave and glorious dragon, Thorax got the friends he wanted and not too long after that Twilight brought over Chrysalis to talk to him.

"Well well well, Thorax I had a feeling it was you," Chrysalis said when he reunited with Thorax who was rather nervous to be in the presence of his former queen. "You were always different from the other changelings and now I realize that it's a good thing you were."

"You have?" Thorax said shocked.

"Yes, I also wish to change my ways. Perhaps we can help each other with that."

"Oh that would be great then maybe 1 day we can take that knowledge back to the changelings. If we learn how to create love on our own then we wouldn't have to take it from others."

"You know Thorax, I've been thinking the exact same thing myself." Chrysalis then talked to Twilight as well as Cadance and Shining Armor about allowing Chrysalis go to the prison to get the changelings still in there released. "I've wanted to ask this of you for quite some time but I hesitated because I wasn't quite sure how to ask."

"Well I'd probably have to talk to Princess Celestia and Luna about it and they might say yes but I don't know Chrysalis, that's kind of a lot to ask."

"I'm aware of that but I can get them in line, they always follow my orders."

"Well okay then, I'll go ask Celestia and Luna."

"Twily wait, don't you want to think about this a bit longer?"

"No Shining Armor, I'm going to honor Chrysalis's request."

"But Twily-" Shining Armor was cut off when Twilight got out the piece of paper he wrote for her. "I knew you were going to pull that out but I kept going."

A portal was opened right inside the prison located in the badlands and the group of escaped rogues appeared. Mad Alicorn wanted to build up an army and the prison would be the place to find ponies eager to join.

"Seriously another prison break-in?" A guard asked. "What is Equestria coming to?"

"It's all gonna come to me when I take it over as well as the lands beyond," Mad Alicorn answered. "Anypony that wants to help me take over step forward," Mad Alicorn called out but to her surprise nopony not even the prisoners, stepped forward. "Oh nopony wants to join me, too bad." Mad Alicorn then used her magic to force the ponies to join her like the last time she came to the prison and before long Super Stallion showed up.

"What kind of rogue keeps breaking into prison?" Super Stallion asked.

"Thank you," the guard from before said.

"I'm here for an army and you aren't going to stop me. Keep him busy Wacko." Wacko attacked Super Stallion who was quick to counter and even reverse brainwashed several ponies that Mad Alicorn got to. "Seems Wacko is gonna need some help." Mad Alicorn then made her way over to Super Stallion and blasted him with a beam that left him valuable to an attack from Wacko who slammed him to the ground.

"Well it's not another wall."

"Wacko get him Wacko get him good!" Super Stallion then got back up ready to keep fighting the both of them.

"Yeah you did get me well, but 2 heads aren't always better than 1." Super Stallion then flew to Wacko and grabbed his cape then tossed him into Mad Alicorn.

"Wacko mad!" Wacko then flew ready to attack and Mad Alicorn got up with him.

"Wanna wack me Wacko try your luck with your strongest spell," Super Stallion said as he flew around the prison to undo more of Mad Alicorn's brainwashing.

"Don't just float there blast him you idiot," Mad Alicorn ordered as she tried to hit Super Stallion. Super Stallion then flew right in front of Mad Alicorn.

"Right here Wacko give me your best spell I dare you." Hearing that Wacko charged up a powerful spell.

"Wacko hold on stop no! No!" Wacko fired his spell and Super Stallion flew out of the way, making the spell hit Mad Alicorn instead.

While that was going on the guards and even quite a few of the prisoners helped out in restraining the ponies still brainwashed. The escaped rogues tried to help out but were pushed back by the reformed rogues, Pony Ivy restrained Weather Warper and Scar Flank, Mimicry was clashing with Arachnid while Emo Pony kept Inferno back with a strangely wide variety of water spells.

"Why do you know so many water spells?"

"I used to work for a traveling water work show." Emo Pony then forced Inferno back while Arachnid did the same with Mimicry.

"Where did you get those claws?"

"I made them myself. I kind of wanted to be in a circus or carnival act when I was a filly. Where did you get those metallic spider legs?"

"I also made these myself a project to help disabled ponies move about easier."

"Really I don't suppose you'd let me use yours I think they'd really help me out."

"They probably would, but I'm rather stuck with these." Mimicry then tried to blast and claw Dr. Arachnid but his metal legs helped him dodge both and push Mimicry back with a hard kick to the chest. After that Mad Alicorn landed near Mimicry after taking a massive hit from Super Stallion. "Boss, this isn't going well."

"It'll get better when I make all the other ponies here part of my army."

"Oh really now?" Chrysalis asked, getting the attention of not only the rogues but also Super Stallion.

"Chrysalis, what are you doing here?" Super Stallion asked while keeping Wacko at bay.

"Perhaps it would be best if I explained afterwards." Chrysalis then made her way to the other changelings and Clover and Twilight made sure she got there without getting attacked. Once Chrysalis made it there Twilight ordered their freedom and Chrysalis ordered them to help restrain the brainwashed ponies and while confused as to why the changelings did just that. Mad Alicorn was so angry she attacked Chrysalis and she did it so fast Twilight and Clover couldn't protect her.

"What are you doing!?" Mad Alicorn asked as she gave Chrysalis several nasty blasts.

"Trying to find my redemption," Chrysalis answered as she used a spell to force Mad Alicorn back.

"Boss this isn't good," Mimicry said. "We're getting pushed back more and more and even if you get ponies under your control." Mimicry stopped as a small group of brainwashed ponies tackled Pony Ivy which broke his concentration allowing Weather Warper and Scar Flank to escape but Super Stallion freed them of their control with his spell. "Super Stallion just does that."

"It seems you are right, we'll have to focus on getting rid of him and his allies before we can build our forces." Mad Alicorn then teleported all the rogues right next to her and opened another portal which her group jumped into. "This isn't over Super Stallion, it's just the beginning," Mad Alicorn said right before she went through her portal causing it to disappear.

"As long as Mad Alicorn keeps doing that portal thing catching those rogues is going to be very tricky," Super Stallion said.

"And what's stopping her from coming back?" A guard asked. "You may have to check in here quite a bit."

"Actually, I believe I can help with that," Chrysalis said. Far away, within the ever changing hive of the changelings was the queen's throne. A large black throne that canceled out magic except changeling magic, Chrysalis made her way back to the hive and ordered her army to take the throne with her. "The throne can also be broken into pieces and those pieces will still possess magic canceling properties."

"Well it might be a little tricky to run this place without magic but thank you," a guard said and suddenly Chrysalis fell to the ground.

"Chrysalis, are you okay?" Clover asked as she ran to her friend's aid.

"No, it makes sense I took a nasty hit or 2 from fighting Mad Alicorn and that was quite a long exhausting trip delivering the throne here." Chrysalis coughed like crazy and for a minute acted like she lost her mind again scaring the ponies and changelings around her.

"We have to do something," Thorax called out.

"Thorax," Chrysalis called out when she managed to regain your senses. "You're in charge of the changelings now, we took love for too long, try to give love from now on okay?"

"O-Okay," Thorax said as he couldn't help but cry a bit sensing what was coming next.

"Clover, help them learn how to be good, but without the shock collar." A group of ponies came by ready to take Chrysalis to the medical part of the prison.

"Well sure," Clover said. "But you can help them too, you'll be fine after a while," Clover said, trying to make her friend feel better. Chrysalis then placed her hoof right on Clover's chest.

"I'll be right here, thank you for being my friend even though I wasn't always one back." Chrysalis then lost her senses again as she was taken off and Clover began to shed a tear as well.

"Don't you changelings worry she'll be just fine, you'll see. Chrysalis and I will have all sorts of adventures to come, you’ll see."

Chrysalis passed away the next morning in her sleep. The changelings thought it fitting to bury her just outside the hive and Thorax who was the new leader convinced nearly all the changelings to accept love and this got them to change, figuratively and literally. Some ponies came as well such as the alicorns, Starlight, Clover, and Squeaky.

"It's so weird that she's gone," Starlight said. "But at least she turned around in the end. That's nice isn't it Twilight?"

"Yes it is Starlight if she can do it so can you."

"I beg your pardon Twilight?"

"I know you're having some doubts about making up for your past sins."

"You do? Well I guess I can't get much past you?" Twilight then got out a picture and showed it to Starlight who saw it was Twilight sitting at a table with several other ponies while reading a book.

"This was taken when I still lived in Canterlot. I had friends there that I didn't treat like friends. When I called Minuette to put your tooth back in I also realized that I needed to talk to them and apologize for the way I treated them. Most of them were quick to forgive but there was 1 pony I really needed to make up to. It wasn't easy but I pulled it off."

"So even the Princess of Friendship has trouble with friends at times?"

"Yes. Now look I know you think I'm being hard on you and maybe I am, friendship isn't always easy and neither is making up for past mistakes. But if Chrysalis and I can do it you certainly can."

"Thanks Twilight," Starlight said as she cried a bit. "I needed that a little." Starlight then gave her teacher a hug. "Actually I think I needed that a lot."

"It's kind of weird isn't it Shining Armor?"

"What do you mean Cadance?"

"I mean it feels kind of weird to be standing over the grave of a former enemy and actually feel sorry for her."

"Well it shouldn't be too weird she found her redemption in the end. She saw the error of her ways and in the end became a better pony er changeling."

"That is a nice way to put it I suppose perhaps 1 day those other rogues that keep causing trouble will try to seek their redemption soon."

"Yeah maybe I could lend them a hoof on that."

"You?" Cadance asked, confused at what her husband just said.

"Yeah I know a thing or 2 about making up for past mistakes, I almost lost 2 of the most important mares in my life because I couldn't control my emotions but now I'm in complete control of them."

"Oh I see," Cadance said now understanding what her husband was talking about. "But are you sure you know how to keep your emotions under control?"

"Sure I'm sure Cadance." Suddenly Shining Armor noticed that Swift Sweep who came with Princess Luna to pay respect had dropped his wallet. Shining Armor, quick to act, picked up the wallet with his magic and offered it to Swift Sweep.

"Swift Sweep, you dropped your wallet."

"Doesn't look familiar."

"What? I just saw you drop it, here take it."

"No thanks, it's not mine."

"Yes it is."

"No it's not."

"Yes it is!"

"No it's not."

"YES IT IS NOW TAKE IT BEFORE I SHOVE IT DOWN YOUR THROAT!"

"Way to keep your temper in check, Shining," Cadance said.

"Well I guess it's still a bit of a work in progress," Shining replied and several ponies started to laugh. "And just like that I'm the butt of the joke again."

"Don't feel bad Shining Armor," Swift Sweep said. "We're laughing at you not with you, wait a minute."

"Sounds right to me Swift Sweep," Squeaky said to his fellow janitor. While Squeaky enjoyed this little moment he couldn't help but feel that something terrible was on its way.

Before long he would learn he was right.

Did anyone catch the Spongebob reference. For a chapter that wasn't too long it sure tackled quite a lot and the next chapter is going to cover a lot too.
