Chapter 14 How We'll Get Him

In the corner of a restaurant in one of the shadier parts of Canterlot, 6 recently freed criminals had gathered there. They did so under the suggestion of Dr. Arachnid. "So what the heck are we doing here exactly?" Weather Warper asked while waiting for her order.

"Well I’ve gathered us all together for a very important reason. While we are very different in various ways, we all have 1 thing in common. We've all had our plans foiled by that self-righteous airhead, Super Stallion." Dr. Arachnid then got out a piece of newspaper that had a picture of Super Stallion flying around.

"Well actually, my plans were foiled by Celestia's royal attack dog," Scar Flank said.

"He's done his fair share of foiling on my plans as well," Emo Pony said once again recalling the unpleasant beatings he got.

"Well he would have eventually!" Dr. Arachnid snapped. "The point is if we want to get away with anything, he needs to be out of the picture."

"If it weren't for him helping the guards, me and sir talking too much over there, all of Equestria would probably know who I am by now," Weather Warper as she raised a mug to Gentleman Thief while still waiting for her food to arrive already.

"And I'd have covered all of Canterlot with wonderfully beautiful plants if it weren't for him," Pony Ivy said.

"Wait what?" Dr. Arachnid asked, turning his head to Pony Ivy.

"Now that you mention it doc, it is rather annoying seeing him fly around." Scar Flank then stabbed the picture of Super Stallion with a knife he had in his pocket.

"Yes Scar Flank, he may have stopped us individually for the most part, but if we all go at him together. He won't stand a chance."

"So you sincerely believe we'd be able to accomplish this rather difficult goal?" Gentleman Thief asked while placing his forelegs under his face and resting his elbows on the table.

"Yes, however it's going to take a while for us to build it."

"Build what?"

"I'm so glad you asked Emo Pony." Dr. Arachnid then pulled the knife off the table, placed it down, and got out a blueprint that he rolled on the table for the others to see. "I would have got you all together earlier, but it took me a while to get the details of this just right.”

"Are one of us supposed to inquire as to what you have presented us with?"

"It's a large pony robot that we're going to build. With all of us working together it will take a lot less time to finish it. And the sooner we make it, the sooner we can use it to take down Super Stallion. That's how we'll get him."

"Won't work," Weather Warper bluntly blurted out.

"EXCUSE ME!?" Dr. Arachnid yelled enraged at Weather Warper. "Do you know how much detail I put into this? It's going to be as tall as a 2 story house, it'll have the power lift half of Canterlot castle."

"That's impressive, but like I said, it won't work. Have you forgotten what we saw when he made it back to Canterlot after leaving the island Discord made?"

"Did anypony else think it was weird that he made the island in the sky that was like right above Canterlot by like 1000 feet?"

"We all thought it was weird, Pony Ivy," Emo Pony said. "He said he'd send us to an island just outside Equestria and I guess since it was so high in his opinion it counted as out of Equestria."

"Yeah but why didn't he just make an island for us in the middle of the ocean wouldn't that make more sense? I think I just answered my own question."

"Well since you did, can I get back to my point, Scar Flank? Anyway when we got back you all may have missed it, but I saw Super Stallion hit Discord with a mountain right before catching the said mountain. That thing won't even slow him down," Weather Warper said, tapping on the blueprints.

"But I worked so hard," Dr. Arachnid then grabbed the blueprints and out of rage ripped it in half while also holding back his tears. "At least let me build it first before ruining my plans, Super Stallion."

"Hey now don't feel bad," Emo Pony said, trying to cheer up the disgruntled doctor. "I'm sure if we all put our heads together we can figure out some way to get him." Suddenly the waiter came by and delivered all the food and drinks that the villain 6 had ordered.

"Finally!" Weather Warper said who was so hungry she grabbed the food right off the plate and gobbled it up. "Keep em coming, all this waiting has made me more hungry." The waiter then headed back into the kitchen to get Weather Warper more food. "Well while I'm waiting, what other plans are there to take down stupid stallion?"

"Heh stupid stallion, I like that," Emo Pony said while eating a bit of the food that he ordered. "If we eat a little more I'm sure we'll be able to think of something."

"Yeah can't think on an empty stomach, gotta have calories," Pony Ivy said.

"Well no offense, but I seriously doubt any of you can make a plan as good as mine."

"Is that so? Well try this plan on for size," Scar Flank said causing the others to actually lean in to hear his plan better. "First we need to get a small army of ponies to back us up, then we wait until night and launch an attack on Canterlot Castle and capture Princess Celestia and Princess Luna."

"Didn't you try that already?" Dr. Arachnid asked.

"He's right we did. And it didn't work the first time around," Emo Pony said.

"Yes but if the 2 of us can get back into the castle-"

"No way! I'm not going near that castle until Stone Wall retires. I still have bruises from the last time he beat me up. One of my teeth almost fell out."

"But that's my plan, we get to Stone Wall and you use your orbs to make him go crazy then-"

"I tried that already. They don't work on him. I think I may have told you that already didn't I?"

"Well you stop interrupting me and listen to my plan!?" Scar Flank asked as he raised himself up, placing his forelegs on the table and shook one of them a bit at Emo Pony. Scar Flank then slowly returned to his seating position. "Now look if we can get a distraction crazy enough, we can capture the royal pony sisters and force the guards to give us all the money in the treasury for their return."

"Okay but how will that help us defeat Super Stallion?"

"Easy Emo, we'll also demand that he reveal his secret identity to us in exchange for their safe return. When we know who he is we can go after his alter ego. And that's how we'll get him."

"But what guarantee is there that he won't find them before we can make the demands?" Dr. Arachnid asked.

"We'll have plenty of time to make the demands before he can do anything about it."

"I tried to ponynap Sapphire Shores twice in the past and Super Stallion showed up in both cases. What makes you think he can't do the same with your plan?"

"You also must keep in mind the major fact that the royal sisters would be most difficult to properly contain in the time period for your plan to take place."

"Gentleman Thief has a good point. There are some thrills and risks too much even for me," Weather Warper said.

"Yeah what if he manages to get the princesses free then we'd have all 3 of them to worry about?" Pony Ivy asked.

"And Stone Wall probably won't be far behind either," Emo Pony added as he rubbed some of his bruises.

"Oh come on he didn't beat us up that badly."

"You may be able to take a punch but I'm a bleeder."

"Well I guess my plan isn't going to work then. But can we at least rob the treasury together?"

"I'm. Not. Going. Near. That. Castle."

"Okay Emo Pony we get it. Stone Wall is tough, you don't need to bring him up every 2 seconds."

"Right, sorry doc I guess unpleasant memories like to make you talk about them a lot."

"Maybe what we can do is force Super Stallion to come to us," Weather Warper said.

"Explain yourself, Weather Warper."

"It's simple, Gentleman Thief. We cause a huge commotion right outside the badlands where there's hardly anypony around. So that way we don't have to worry about other ponies showing up to back him up. And when he gets there we jump him all at once. He can't take on all 6 of us at once and that's how we'll get him."

"That might actually work," Emo Pony said as he and the others were just finishing up the last of their food except Gentleman Thief and Weather Warper because the waiter had just dropped off more food for her. "So what's the battle plan?"

"Battle plan?"

"Yeah. How do we take him down?"

"I already told you we just attack him all at once."

"That's it?" Dr. Arachnid asked.

"Yeah that's it. What's with you stallions? Am I speaking old ponish or something?"

"If we just blindly attack him at once what's stopping us from hitting each by mistake," Scar Flank asked.

"I-I don't know," Weather Warper answered, finally getting the point of what the other ponies were saying. "I know. First I hit him with a lightning bolt and then when he's stunned you 5 swarm him."

"I believe that is simply the same problem but with 1 less digit," Gentleman Thief said while finishing his food and ready to get to his drink.

"Okay I get him with lightning, Scar Flank uses a spell or 2 on him, Emo Pony uses a sphere to confuse him in case he's still able to fight then Dr. Arachnid will use some kind of science-like weapon-"

"Science-like weapon?"

"Yeah doc, a science-like weapon, then Pony Ivy wraps him in vines or plant roots and Gentleman Thief hits him right on the head with his staff to knock him out."

"But that only works if he gets hit by the lightning. What if he dodges it?" Emo Pony asked.

"Dodges it? He can't dodge it, it's lightning."

"Actually in the first sighting of Super Stallion ponies saw him fly faster than the Wonderbolts and some of them are capable of flying faster than lightning, so it's a fair assumption he’s than capable of moving out of the way and probably even attack one of us in the process of dodging."

"Yeah and if I'm supposed to wrap him in "vines or roots" how am I supposed to do that when we're located near or in the badlands? There's no plant life there. Well barely any and there's also these giant worm like things. I forget what they're called but they're very dangerous."

"Okay we move our location and I wait until Super Stallion isn't looking and hit him with lightning. That could work right?"

"At the moment, I believe there are too many variables so we'll have to scrap your plan like all the others so far unfortunately."

"Well it's still a heck of a lot better than your plan doc!” Weather Warper snapped.

"What was that nimbus brain!?" Dr. Arachnid snapped back

"What?"

"Nimbus, it's a type of cloud. I thought weather was your thing."

"Oh yeah, well what's your thing? What's the deal with the robot spider legs?"

"You want to know, fine nimbus brain." Dr. Arachnid then stood up and removed his lab coat and showed that the metal legs were attached to a flat metal pad on his back. "At first I made it for ponies who had trouble walking. But there was an accident and now, this thing is fused to my back."

"I was wondering why you still had that in prison," Pony Ivy said, also a little glad he finished his lunch before Dr. Arachnid showed the pad.

"Yes, originally they wanted it removed since letting me keep it would clearly make it much easier to escape. But they quickly found they couldn't remove it without killing me." Dr. Arachnid then put his coat back on and sat back down. "So anyway, your plan won't work. Who else has a plan?"

"I do!" Pony Ivy said quickly, getting the attention of the others. "Here's what we do: I make a green area even more green, pushing ponies out of the area to get Super Stallion's attention and wait for him to arrive. When he arrives we stay hidden making sure he doesn't see us at first."

"Okay," Emo Pony said, somewhat liking where Pony Ivy was going with his idea.

“Liking it so far,” Dr. Arachnid said.

"And when he gets into the right position, I can hit him with a special little thing I've been working on."

"And what might that be exactly?" Weather Warper asked with her forelegs behind her head while her back legs were on the table.

"It's a little something I've been developing ever since I got out of prison. It's a small but powerful poison sample that when contacted will leave Super Stallion bedridden for months."

"Months you say? That would leave us plenty of time for us to complete our plans. Well at least me, I'm not too sure about the rest of you, but at least me for sure."

"Very encouraging doc," Emo Pony replied. "You probably didn't damage anypony's self esteem."

"Well back to my plan once the poison kicks in we can do what we want with hardly a care. As well as take that time to learn his secret identity and in the end that's how we'll really get him."

"Wait, kicks in?" Scar Flank asked.

"Well yeah, it'll take a while to kick in."

"How long is a while?" Weather Warper asked.

"About 2 or 3 days."

"So the plan is to poison him and give him plenty of time to take it out on us and torture how to make an antidote out of you?" Dr. Arachnid asked and his question was followed by a rather awkward silence. During that silence Pony Ivy had put the pieces together. He also remembered what Ma Hooffield used to tell him. While he was a talented smart young stallion, he had rare moments where he was greatly lacking in intelligence.

"So my plan is scrapped too?"

"Unfortunately yes," Dr. Arachnid said and then looked at the menu to take a look and see if he wanted to eat anything else.

"Well then I guess it's my turn then," Emo Pony said and got out a sphere that had red swirls in it.

"That looks new," Scar Flank replied.

"Yes, and it's similar to the one used on Star Swirl the Bearded-"

"Wait Star Swirl the Bearded!" Dr. Arachnid interrupted.

"Oh yeah. I never mentioned that, Scar Flank and I met Star Swirl the Bearded because of a time spell he used."

"Why did you never mention this before?" Dr. Arachnid asked, nearly hysterical.

"You never asked," Emo Pony bluntly answered.

"You never mentioned meeting the greatest pony to ever live because I didn't ask? You never thought maybe I might be interested?!"

"Who the hey is Star Swirl the Bearded?" Weather Warper asked as the waiter showed up again and dropped off more food. "That will do for now, thanks." The waiter then headed back to the kitchen meanwhile, Weather Warper turned to Dr. Arachnid who looked like he was ready to pounce on her.

"W-Who's Star Swirl the Bearded!?! Don't they teach you ponies anything in school today? Have you ever even read a book?" Dr. Arachnid started looking like he was going to have a heart attack making Weather Warper as well as the others uncomfortable. Dr. Arachnid calmed down after a couple deep breaths. "He was a great and powerful unicorn that helped mold Equestria to what it is now and created all sorts of spells."

"Well, he sounds pretty important."

"Yeah, he was." Dr. Arachnid rolled his eyes. "You were saying, Emo Pony."

"Oh right, the sphere will completely hypnotize whoever it hits. This will put Super Stallion completely under our control."

"Really?" Scar Flank said.

"Yeah, they won't have any will power during the time period they're hypnotized."

"It would prove quite fortunate for us to have a literal superhero providing for us," Gentleman Thief said.

"And that is how we'll get him, make him do our work for us and most likely ruin his reputation while we're at it. So you know, that's a really nice bonus."

"And it'll affect him right away?"

"Right doc, that second it hits him he'll be under my control."

"I think your plan is going to-" Dr. Arachnid stopped when a couple other questions came to mind.

"Is there something wrong Dr. Arachnid?" Emo Pony asked.

"How many of those do you have?" Dr. Arachnid replied.

"1, why?"

"Is there a time limit to how long the sphere will keep him hypnotized?"

"About 45 minutes to an hour, oh that's not very long is it?"

"No and when it wears off he's going to be very angry," Pony Ivy said.

"Yeah and I'd hate to see what the stallion that can lift a mountain would do to us when he's mad," Weather Warper said.

"I can't believe this, the 6 of us can't think of 1 plan to get rid of Super Stallion," Dr. Arachnid said then suddenly realized something. "Gentleman Thief, you've been rather quiet about this particular topic."

"Yeah he's right," Scar Flank added. "He's hardly said anything since we got there."

"Do you have an idea?" Weather Warper asked.

"No," Gentleman Thief strangely bluntly as he finished his drink. "At least not a complete one."

"What do you mean?" Pony Ivy asked.

"Yeah, what do you mean?" Emo Pony asked.

"It's merely bits and pieces at this point, but I think overtime the bits and pieces of ideas I've collected will allow me to complete a most excellent plan.

"Well you've got our attention, what are the bits and pieces you have?" Weather Warper asked getting out of her relaxed pose and leaned closer to Gentleman Thief.

I'll happily discuss it, but it's getting rather late and the restaurant here is almost closed. So we should pay the check and discuss this elsewhere." Following the well spoken stallion's advice the villain 6 paid the check and left.

Meanwhile in Ponyville, Super Stallion had been visiting Ponyville rather often. Not to talk to Twilight, but that was part of the reason. But because Ponyville had been dealing with a lot of problems lately such as a dam breaking and construction building falling apart. However Super Stallion was able to handle it while also dealing with a rather meddling Rainbow Dash, who recently earned the reputation of a hero in Ponyville. "I don't get it, Super Stallion, why don't you ever stick around afterwards?" Rainbow Dashed asked after 1 occasion where he solved another problem.

"What do you mean?"

"You're a superhero, don't you want to hear the ponies celebrate how cool you are?"

"Well that is nice, but I still have other parts of Equestria to check on as well. So I don't really have the time. Besides I helped out, that's reward enough for me. Later." Super Stallion then took off so fast even Rainbow Dash couldn't catch up.

"What does he mean?"

"I believe what he means is while it's great to celebrate your accomplishments it's important to act with grace and humility," Twilight answered who was rather close to Rainbow Dash who quickly got what she meant.

"Oh I think I get it now and it's also important to act with grace and humility when other ponies like Super Stallion outshine me."

"Yeah you got it and I think you also have a letter to send to the princess."

"You got that right, but I might want Spike to proofread it first."

Author's Note:

This chapter was inspired by my favorite episode of Batman the Animated Series. Almost Got'Em. While it's not very long I'd like to think it's entertaining, short but sweet. As well as a prelude to something epic that will happen later. Also in this universe Mare Do-Well doesn't exist, you're welcome.
