Episode 6: Blooming Spirit

A young man was venturing through the Everfree Forest. The sun seemed to hit his yellow and green hair, as well as give his light tan skin a glow. His outfit consisted of blue jeans, a green tank top with a flower on it, and brown sneakers. "Hmm. Where could it be?" The young man mused to himself. "Miss Zecora wanted that rare flower today. A little outside the norm of my usual work at her place, but not out of the question. Well, I guess it's time I made use of my abilities." The young man took a deep breath and focused as he put one of his hands on the ground. A faint green glow traced through the earth as he searched for his query. An image of the flower he was searching for was then reflected in his blue eyes. "Ah. There you are." He followed the glowing trail, and found the flower he was looking for. "Heart's Desire. A fitting name for a beauty such as you." The young man picked the flower, and returned to Zecora's hut. He then placed the flower on Zecora's main table. "I bet she'll be happy to finally have this. Not to tend to the rest of my work." The young man set to work taking care of the various plants Zecora had around her hut. "It's not really work since I like doing it though. Heh. No wonder my name's Venus Bloomer." Venus happily tended to the plants when he noticed Zecora walk in with Apple Bloom in tow. "Welcome back Miss Zecora. I found that flower you were looking for." He then knelt down to look at Apple Bloom. "And who's this little lady?" Venus asked with a kind smile. "Nice to meet you. I'm Venus Bloomer."

"Ah'm Apple Bloom!" Apple Bloom answered. She then ran her hand along the are she had a chipped tooth, and sighed. "Ah'm never gonna get mah cutie mark at this rate! Ah'll be as old as Granny Smith!"

Venus smiled down at her. "Apple Bloom. Have you been trying different things to see what your special talent is?"

Apple Bloom nodded. "Yeah. But they've all blown up in me an' mah friends' faces."

"Well, that's part of the process. But I can give you a hint as to when you find what your calling is. Would you like to know?" Apple Bloom nodded eagerly. Venus smiled as he put a hand over his heart. "You'll know when you find your calling when it resonates with your spirit. It'll feel like your whole body is full of life! That's how I found my talent in working with plants. Just keep trying. All good things take time."

Apple Bloom's mood improved, but she still frowned. "Ah know. But Ah'm just so sick of everyone tellin' me to wait!" Zecora then handed Apple Bloom the remedy she'd made for her chipped tooth, and Apple Bloom drank it all. She looked in her reflection in amazement! Her tooth was whole again! "Golly Zecora! You've got tonics that heal all sorts of ailments! Bad bones, bad back, bad breath..."

Zecora chuckled. "Yes little one. It is true. I have many a healing brew."

Apple Bloom then got an idea as she noticed all the potions that could do good things. "You know..Ah'm bettin' you can whip up a potion that can fix mah blank flank." Zecora frowned.

"There are many potions in this room. But none for what you want dear Apple Bloom." Zecora scolded. "For a cutie mark, you will soon see. Time is the only remedy." Zecora then set to work preparing a new potion using some petals from teh Heart's Desire flower Venus had brought in earlier. Apple Bloom recognized the flower, and a new plan popped into her head.

"Heart's Desire, huh?" Apple Bloom thought out loud. Venus and Zecora left to get more amethyst, and Apple Bloom took the flower! When the two returned, Venus noticed that the Heart's Desire had been taken. While Zecora wouldn't be needing the rest of it, Venus had a pretty good idea of who had taken it.

"Zecora? I think we'd best prepare an antidote potion for the Heart's Desire." Venus said with a concerned tone. "I just hope we can get it ready in time." The next day Apple Bloom was showing off the cutie mark that the potion had given her to her classmates. As well as the talent that came packaged with it. So far things were going great for Apple Bloom. However, that soon changed when another cutie mark appeared out of nowhere! And upon its appearance, Apple Bloom took to her new talent almost instantly! But considering she was still doing well, Apple Bloom then began to show off around town. However, the fun ended that night when another mark showed up out of the blue! Apple Bloom then found herself tap dancing uncontrollably!

"Ah don't know how to make it stop!" Apple Bloom cried out!

"Ah know someone who might." Applejack then took Apple Bloom to Twilight's library the next day. Twilight and Burst were exchanging spells when Applejack showed up with Apple Bloom in tow. The two noticed Apple Bloom's predicament and set to work studying what ailed her.

"Three cutie marks, three talents..." Twilight said in shock. "I've never seen anything like it!"

Burst held a contemplative gaze at Apple Bloom. "Hm. Definitely unusual. Any ideas Twi?"

Twilight nodded. "I was just reading a book on common illnesses. What was it?" Twilight fired up her magic as she used it and her free hand to look through the bookshelf.

"Perplexing Plagues perhaps?" Spike asked as he handed Twilight the book.

"That's it!" Twilight exclaimed. She and Burst looked through the 'C' section of the book and found the culprit. "Cutie Pox!"

Burst tried to lighten up the moment. "Isn't there a vaccine for that?" Spike let out a chuckle at Burst's joke.

"Moving on...random cutie marks appeared all over people's bodies forcing them to perform the talents that came with them! Twilight read.

"Just like me!" Apple Bloom cried as she was still performing the talents her marks represented.

"Yes, but what's the cure?" Applejack asked. "What's the cure?"

Twilight's eyes went wide in horror as she read further. "It says there's no known cure!"

"No known cure?!" The others cried out.

Twilight shook her head. "It says that the origin of the break out was never discovered. And the Cutie Pox disappeared just as mysteriously arrived!" Apple Bloom panicked as another mark appeared! This time on her arm!

"Then it looks like we're going to need an unknown cure." Burst noted. "Come on! We gotta head to Zecora's!" The group left instantly, but the constantly spawning cutie marks on Apple Bloom made it almost impossible! With all the ones that kept showing up, Apple Bloom was almost bouncing all over town just to complete the corresponding talents! It was made only worse when Spike informed a few girls of what was transpiring. Everyone dashed inside their homes! Zecora soon showed up with Venus.

"I thought I had removed their fear the last time I visited here. But, doors are barred and shutters shut. Guess I should have stayed inside my hut." Zecora said with a shrug.

Twilight breathed a sigh of relief. "Zecora! Apple Bloom has cutie pox!" Twilight pointed to Apple Bloom still afflicted by the cutie pox. "We were just on our way to see you!"

"But magically, you're here!" Applejack noted. "Was yer zebra sense a tingling?"

"No." Zecora answered. "Venus. It seems your intuition was quite right. Come! We'll have this problem solved before night!" Zecora took a look at Apple Bloom. "He informed me that the Heart's Desire had left my room shortly after a visit from Apple Bloom. Keep in mind what you say. We know that flower did not just walk away." Apple Bloom smiled nervously before a window washing mark showed up on her body! Zecora smiled as she reached into her bag and pulled out three seeds. "A Cutie Pox cure I have for sooth. For the answer lies in the seeds of truth."

"Well then give 'em to 'er! Quick!" Applejack pleaded!

"These seeds must be planted in the ground. With truth they will grow and the cure is found." Zecora instructed.

Applejack was puzzled. "...Come again?"

Zecora smiled. "The seeds do indeed hold the cure. But only when spoken words that are pure."

"Well lets get to it!" Applejack dug a hole and put the seeds in! "All right. They're planted! Now somebody tell the truth!" Everyone panicked as a new mark showed up on Apple Bloom that turned her into a mini twister!

"WHOOOAAAAA!" Apple Bloom screamed as she spun around!

"Somebody! Anybody!" Applejack yelled!

Burst gathered his courage. "I'm a grown up and I still watch Power Rangers!"

"You too?" Venus asked with a small smile. Applejack and Twilight looked at the place where the seeds were planted. No growth was evident. "What's your favorite season?" The two would have gotten into a conversation, but they were more worried about keeping Apple Bloom from tearing up the town! "Apple Bloom! You've gotta tell the truth!" Venus cried out!

"Ah admit it! Ah didn't earn mah cutie marks! They're all fake!" Apple Bloom cried out! "Ah thought the Heart's Desire would help me find out what mah special talent was! So when Zecora and Venus left the hut, Ah whipped up a potion with the rest of the Heart's Desire in it!" At Apple Bloom's confession, a new flower sprouted from where the seeds of truth had been planted! Apple Bloom quickly ate the flower, and she was then cured. Venus then walked over to her with a kind smile.

"Apple Bloom? Did any of those talents feel right with your spirit?" Venus asked. Apple Bloom shook her head. "I thought so." Venus put a hand on her shoulder. "There are some things in the world that can't be rushed. But remember my words. You'll know what your calling is when your spirit resonates with it. You just need to let it happen on its own."

Apple Bloom smiled and walked over to Zecora. "Ah'm sorry. Ah shouldn't have stolen the Heart's Desire. Ah wouldn't blame ya if ya never wanted to have me around again."

"Now Apple Bloom," Zecora said with a kind smile as she cupped Apple Bloom's face. "Don't be glum! You are still welcome little one! With each mistake, you learn something new. Growing up into a better you."

"Something tells me Celestia would be pretty happy hearing you learned that." Burst said with a smile.

"You don't mind telling her, do you?" Twilight asked. Apple Bloom smiled and went to get writing supplies while Burst walked over to Venus. Venus was then shocked to find a light pink aura surround him and soon fade.

"Looks like you've awakened. Same as me and my friends." Burst said with a smile.

Venus smiled in kind. "What can I say? I go about my existence full of life and vigor. I saw you fight Nightmare Moon and Discord. Burst Stream, right? I'm Venus Bloomer. Pleased to meet you."

"You too Venus. By how you live, you're the Element of Spirit." Burst said with a smile. "You wanna hang out? A soda from Sugar Cube Corner always hits the spot after some random Ponyville craziness."

Venus smiled. "I'd like to. But speaking of spirit, something was calling to mine back in the forest. I'll take you up on your offer later. Right now, I'd better see what was calling for me." Venus left for the Everfree Forest, and used his connection to nature. As soon as he tapped into the earth, a rose bloomed right before his eyes. It wasn't like any he'd ever seen due to the odd glow coming from it. Venus advanced toward the rose, and another soon popped up. As Venus followed the roses, a trail became more apparent as he walked. He then found a wall of thorns when the rose trail ended. Venus hazarded a step forward, and the wall of thorns seemed to shift in response! Venus temporarily flinched before taking another step forward. As he moved, the wall of thorns seemd to shift so that there was an opening just large enough for him to walk through. On the other side of the wall, an entire garden of roses stood before Venus. But what caught his eye the most was what was waiting at the center. It was a dragon spirit. One with beautiful wings that looked to be made of rose petals.

"I have been waiting for you. Youth from the Druid Lineage." The dragon spirit said in a kind, female voice. "I am called Black Rose.
Since you have awakened as a Bearer of Heroism, I can now depart and give you this gift." A pedestal of vines and roots rose from the ground. Atop it was a whip modeled after Black Rose herself. Venus anxiously took the weapon in his hands, and saw the dragon spirit smile. "Good luck and farewell to you Venus. May love one day bloom in your heart for one who shares your spirit." Black Rose vansihed in a storm of rose petals. Leaving only the garden as the wall of thorns collapsed. Venus then made his way back to Ponyville following the path of roses that had led him to the garden. Venus then showed Burst his Duelist Arm.

"I don't suppose you have toys similar to this?" Venus asked witha joking smile. Burst summoned his own Duelist Arms. "Then it looks like you've got a lot to brief me on. Might as well discuss it over a soda." Burst chuckled as he led Venus to Sugar Cube Corner and briefed him as they drank their beverages. "No way! You've been dating Princess Celestia?!"

Burst nodded. "She was my first kiss too. Back at the Grand Galloping Gala. So what kind of things can you do?"

Venus was confused. "Things?"

"Well, Inferno and I are male avatars from the dragon lineage. Steel's the captain of the Elite Guard. Ace, Ice, and Shadow found out they were the chosen of the legendary dragons, and Fang has wolf ears and a tail that grant him enhanced senses because he's got a wolf spirit that bonded with his ancestor and the powers woke up in him. So what can you do?"

Venus smiled. "Well, I'm from the druid lineage. You know how earthbounds have a strong tie to the earth?" Burst nodded. "Well, druids were earthbounds who shared deep ties with nature, and could control things like plants and the earth. I'm a descendent of that tribe, so I can make plants grow and control some too." Venus then admired his Duelist Arm. "And as the saying goes: 'Every rose has its thorn.'" Burst and Venus let out a chuckle. "What's so funny?"

"Man! If you, Fang, and Ty had to live in the same house as Fluttershy, she'd have trouble picking any of you as her boyfriend!"

Venus let out a laugh as well. "I can actually picture that quite well." Venus raised his glass. "Here's to making a new friend."
