abstract magic stuff is hard to write
good news is, there's about 3 chapters left. 1 of them will even have sex in it!
Pascal... that's not planning. That was 'spur of a moment'.
Because it changes every time you look at it, Lazarus code is extremely difficult to hack, really needing to be run in emulation with a much faster system observing it. The closest equivalent is trying to Observe entangled quantum systems without altering them, which only recently was demonstrated. Sort of like Peeking at Schrodingers Cat lots of times, instead of Looking at it. Given DNA has some quantum computational form, never mind the magic wrapped with it, theyre going to need the equivalent of Digital Molasses to slow the Master Code down so they can hit it faster than it can reconfigure?
Artificial law of nature? Okay, sure; the distinction stopped making sense sometime around the invention of dogs.

Or enough sheer brute force to overwrite the entire hard drive all at once, which is clearly the plan and therefore probably the reason for those downvotes (neither of them were me so I'm just spitballing)
Once again, Goku (technically) saves the day!
I'm getting the feeling that Pascal's gonna rewrite the universal code with everypony's help and free Celestia and Luna, but then he'll start to fade away like the ending of Pokemon mystery dungeon...
Only for all the ponies to channel thier energy through Celestia and she and Luna will alter thier wish to banish all humans so it excludes Pascal.
Pascal didn't like DBZ!? Blasphemy, I say! This is a blood move to include everyone in Equestria. Since everyone in the world is affected by the master's power, won't they have to be fixed as well?
God damn it you mother fucker.... I hate you and love you for this.
Yes! YES!! All of my yes! Dude, if/when he does his final attack to save the day, he had better yell Kamehameha! HE. HAD. BETTER.
IT'S FUCKING HAPPENING
GREAT chapter! Always a treat to see stuff from you and I hope you're doing alright. I love how much of a dork Pascal was in this.
Nice to se he FINALLY Figured it out!!!!!
Oh. From what he was thinking, I thought the solution would be to basically use any magic that wasn't pony magic (because of the masters) nor human magic (because of Luna). Or otherwise filter it through natural sources, like have Zecora brew something up and use that sort of as a glove box.

the Masters created the foundation of all the life and species and magics of the world, not just ponies. zebra enchantments, dragon power, changeling magic, all would have just as much trouble. the ponies merely had the privilege of being their favorites, their blessed, and their slaves

Yes, that covers Spike, but they might not have bothered locking down the plants for obedience

Well, you nailed it. I had a clear vision in my mind's eye on what was going on.
Thank you for posting.
You know, listing out abstract magic concepts and the Masters desire for control has me wondering Discords place in this universe, besides fusing Pascal with Normalcy itself.
Also woot!
Exciting developments!
Compounded over enough sources, a change in quantity is enough to equal a change in quality. It's not a bad plan, as plans go. At the barest minimum his heart is coming from the right place... And when you're working with metaphysical constructs, that's often the most important part. :V
I hope the boob attack is successful the next time. That'd be so amazing, and thematically fitting.

3 chapters left? Does that mean the end of Universal Acceptance, or the end of this book?

the end of this book

Whew... Please, don't scare me like that, okay?
(emphasis mine)
That's what really gets me here, you know? I mean, I semi-regularly entertain the fantasy of ending up as a semi-absolute being (essentially a near-omnipotent but non-omniscient god) in one of the many, many worlds I've come to know, or have imagined, over the years... There are so many video games on that list, too - as WeMod says "Your game, your rules"; I've been using various tools (from cheats, dev commands, trainers, through file editing, savegame editing, memory editors...) for decades now - even wrote a few myself - just to get that 'high' of being in absolute, total control... if I ever wanted it. I won't shy away from wanting to play god, because - all told, that feels fantastic to me.
And that's why this particular bit hits very close to home. I mean, these are imagined worlds, so it doesn't matter what I do, right? The fact that I tend to go for the "ultimate good" ending doesn't really matter, because I kill (or otherwise interfere with) literally thousands of characters without remorse, in the process...
I'd like to believe that, if I were thrown into such a situation, I'd be better than that... but seriously: would I be? For a decade, maybe. For a hundred years, I guess... Beyond that? All bets are off...
In the context of this issue, I've heard people say "Humans aren't meant to live that long" - and I suppose that's true. But I don't think that's the entire issue, really, because I doubt my outlook would change if I just lived longer (possibly millions of years at a stretch?). I think it has to do with that power, and more importantly - not being accountable to anyone, or anything.
Because, at the end of the day, what does drive morality? In my opinion, it's "judgement" - the external act of observing actions and deciding whether you accept them, or not. If you're a lone wolf that never works with others - you've no morality to deal with, really, unless you invent a deity to judge yourself through.
So... if you are that deity... and the universe is yours to do whatever you wish - or, rather, if there's nobody else to provide external judgement - what drives your morality?
So, in a sense... I doubt we can even blame the Masters, because - at least as far as this group goes - it seems that such things as "morality" didn't even play into it. They didn't do "good", nor "evil" - what they did was never judged by their external authorities. As far as they were concerned, they were free to act as they wished - and if they were as powerful as is indicated, I highly doubt there even existed such an external source of judgement for them. The universe was literally their playground.
I mean, of course we can judge them - by our own standards, obviously... But that's not a source of authority they'd recognise.
What?!!!! Heresy! Dragon Ball is the best of all!! You can't say that you didn't like me very much!! Something at least you must have liked a lot about that anime!!
