*NOTE*: This story is loosely inspired by real life events, mainly the 9/11 terrorist attacks. It is meant to be the occurrence of a similar attack as it would have happened in the MLP world. *END*
Crimson Moon is a student studying at Manehattan University. She's majoring in Cognitive Science, and has gotten a new dorm room with a view of downtown.
Fallen Angel and his sister, Shining Star, are on a trip away from their home in Canterlot. Already victims of a previous attack in which their parents were killed, they've been living with a wonderful couple, and are on their first trip ever by themselves.
Firestorm is a police officer with the Manehattan Police Department. She moved to Manehattan from Fillydelphia just a year ago, and 3 weeks ago, she married a Wonderbolt.
These paths all link them into downtown Manehattan when a bomb explodes in the Crystaller Building. As Crimson Moon grabs a camera and begins to film, Firestorm provides relief effort at the scene, while Shining Star & Fallen Angel race into downtown, just to see if they can help in any way. Just by chance, their paths cross. But all it takes is those few seconds for lives to change forever.
Hmm.. I do actually wonder, were these 4 ponies based on real people that were there? Or were they just inspired by real-life events, like you said?

I was inspired of Crimson Moon by a documentary I watched on the attacks, titled 102 Minutes That Changed America. It was about the amateur photographers and filmers that captured the attacks in real time. I wanted to show someone that was there to document history unfolding before them. The path she follows in the story is loosely based off of the same path one of the videographers follows in the documentary; he stays around Ground Zero until the towers fall, although he isn't trapped by rubble like Crimson.
Angel, Star, & Firestorm were more original creations.

Also, this is a great story written up. Loved how it ended, oh how I wish we were ponies if this kind of situation had happened... They could've saved those people who jumped off the building if they were pegasi...
Still, great story, like I said earlier. Keep up the good work writing stories like these. Looking forward to reading more about these 4 interesting characters. Maybe you could write more sequels for this story like Star and her helping Babs' sister story you wrote up before~
