Sweetie Belle finds Opal not moving in Rarity's room one day while she is out and can just tell something is wrong. She rushes the poor cat over to Fluttershy's and is given the news that no pet owner wants to hear; Opal is sick and can not be treated. Fluttershy feels it would be best if they put the poor creature down and Sweetie Belle has to come to terms with this.

I know how this feels. I had two pet rats (and I know that's unusual but rats aren't disgusting at all, they are adorable fuzzy little guys that will even rest on your shoulder) named Pepper and Cucumber, and I loved them very much. Pepper passed away, I don't know exactly how, and Cucumber was the most heartbreaking. He had had a tumor on his bum for almost as long as I had him, and one day it was bleeding so we took him to the vet and had him put down :applecry:

I would have had them remove it, but I learned that tumors on rats is very common and if you get it removed, it will eventually grown back, so it's kinda pointless.

If you actually read all of my being sad and talking about my fallen pets, congrats. I guess this is a site for reading, just not for reading comments. This was a good story, and I'm sorry about your cat and grandma's dog. R.I.P.

The feels!

I've had to put down two cats recently, one in 2014 and one in 2015. One I saw coming, Boo was not eating and starting to get very thin and not eating. Testing showed the likelihood of intestinal cancer so we did the best thing we could for her. Her brother, Peek, left almost a year later and his loss was sudden. I think he missed his sister and just held on long enough for us all to get two more cats to make sure we were all taken care of. I could see once they had his approval, he just wanted to let go. He stopped eating and drinking and one day he willing walked into his cat carrier - which he hated since he knew it meant the vet - and just laid down in it looking at me to say "I'm ready."

God, I'm tearing up while writing this. I love Tabby and Midnight, our two new cats, but Peek and Boo will never be far from my heart. I know they're waiting for me at the Rainbow Bridge.

The family dog had to be put down after kidney trouble.

My gerbil died in my hands, it kept trying to get up and run around again, but everytime it stood up, it fell back down again. Eventually it fell asleep and never woke up :fluttercry:

But that aside, this is a great story.

I'm dreading the day my dog leaves me :raritycry:

6808730 That's so sad! I love rats and owned a couple myself!

My parents had to put my cat down while I was on my mission. That was not a fun letter to read. I know exactly how she feels.

Couple of minor niggly grammar issues, but a good story.
