Long ago, the great city of Canterlot fell. Not much remains of its history, and most won't go near it.
You decide to explore the ruins of this once-great city, wondering what happened.

Loved it! Even though I usually take the whole "Listen to this song while reading" thing as a bad sign. In this case it works perfectly!

One nitpick, though: You seem to shuffle tenses, occasionally switching to past tense instead of the present.

Thanks for reading! I know, I have trouble with tenses sometimes, I'm working on it.
Glad you liked the story.

I can almost feel what happened... I can picture what happened in the last hours of Canterlot...

A new dark force risen from the underground. It' too strong even for the guards, even for the princesses, even for the Elements of Harmony.
They all fight as best as they could, failing miserably. The whole land of Equestria died from this strange force, a force that can turn every living creature into dust, or simply kill them, leaving nothing of them.
But something... something's left from this.
The Elements of Harmony can't be destroyed. There's still something left of them. Something that will live for ever. Something that will make people remember. Something... Magical. Friendship. Friendship is a thing that no one can forget. It will leave signs everywhere. Signs of a once beautiful friendship, signs of adventures... Signs of the end.
The force took over the Reign of Princess Celestia and Princess Luna, and then disappeared.

I love your idea of what happened to everyone.
I felt that I should leave the story as open-ended as possible, and let everyone come up with their own ideas of what occurred.

1061809 Yeah, that would be the best.
I say, may i work on some kind of "prequel"? Like, it can be explained what happened and stuff like that?

1061821
Sure! I'd love to see what you come up with.

1061834 Thanks, I'll start today!

Good choice of music to go along with this.
