6359962 Yeah, I probably should have foreshadowed their breakup better. 6360032 Even longer for my next one... 63601076361482 Sorry bout that. 6360429 Yyyeeesss... friends... 6360969 Well, unlike TSW, there's a firm ending in mind, so you'll just have to wait and see. 6361156 Yup. Second month of the year. 64598006856729 Ask, and ye shall receive. 6488089 Dazzled by the lesbian ponies? 6595148 Mwahahahahaha! 75749347837517 Nowish. 8067692 It does!
I hope that little bit of animosity Octavia has for Pinkie Pie doesn't get in the way of her friendship with Twilight, because with Twilight, very few things are more important to her than her friends.
I was a little worried it was an April Fools chapter for a bit... but then I started reading . Welcome back Wrabbit
We're almost to the reunion! Hopefully Octavia can keep that temper down when she meets Pinkie. Good stuff using the instances Twi's been near the two of them in the show.
Looking forward to the next chapter, whenever it comes
8067735 Sorry about the delay. 8067756 [/Frankenstein] 8067972 Well, work is work, and my muse wants to do more than just ponies, but I think for as long as this site is up, I'll keep writing pone words. 80680408068110 We shall see if training overcomes gut reactions. 8068163 And just in time for the Cell games, too! 8068263 D'aaawww... you're making me blush.
Glad it is back so. I hope you had a chance to clear everything you needed to. I also hope that it won't take so long new chapter Just kidding all the time you need for the next one. I really love how weave your stories, so for the quality it is well worth the wait.
I love the choice of name you used for the bat ponies. Well done. Also, this story has been an entertaining read as I usually find with your stories, Wrabbit.
8068541 Thank you kindly. 8069009 I'm pretty good at those, aren't I? 8069454 Well, I've been using that name since the TSW series. I wanted something that didn't sound like a racial slur (bat pony) or came from another series (thestral from Harry Potter), so I looked up ancient myths for flying horses, and there's surprisingly few that include bat wings. The closest I could find was Agganippe, which was an alternate identity for the Greek goddess Demeter, who sometimes took the shape of a black, winged horse, so I went with it. Funny thing is, pegasi and agganippe aren't even the only flying horses in my canon. Hopefully someday, I'll introduce you all to the third flying pony race.
8070297 Ooh, looking forward to it. I like that you delved into myth to find that one. The one time I tried to find a different name for them, since I also rather dislike using thestral, I came up with nothing. Never thought to look into different aspects/forms of gods.
Well f***. I am totally hooked now and you left the story for a year before that last chapter =( There are too few Twilight x Octavia fics and I really hope that you will finish this one. why did I read it before it's finished? I am so dumb
Yuck Nope. I guess this was meant to be "Hello, Octavia speaking,"? That word-to-word translation really doesn't work.
In Italian, you usually answer the phone with "pronto" (lit. "ready") instead of "hello". Number two, "speaking" does mean "parlante", but, parlante is a participio presente, and that form is almost never used as a verb but as an adjective, so that sentence sound as Octavia describing herself as a "talking Octavia" (as opposed to a mute Octavia I guess ).
The simplest response is just "Pronto?", and leave it at that; something like "Pronto? Qui Octavia," or "Si? Qui Octavia, dite pure," is slightly more formal, introducing the speaker on the other end of the line. Pronto / Si are interchangeable, but pronto is more common.
8144972 See, now this is the kind of thing I look for. Not being a native Italian (or in this case, Itailian) speaker, certain informal things like this often slip past me, and Google translate can often be worse than useless, but I have to use the resources I have. Thanks for the correction, and I'll change it now (using the most formal one you provided, since that's just how she rolls). If you could, i'd greatly appreciate it if you would check out my latest blog post, where I ask for some help from Italian speakers. That is, if you don't want another facepalming moment when I release my next chappie.
Also, what is the exact translation of those phrases?
8148137 You're welcome! I'll take a look at your blog in the afternoon. Meanwhile...
So, pronto, as said before, literally means "ready"; not sure where that comes from, really, but it's the defacto telephone greeting here in Italy. Where in English you pick up the phone and say "Hello?", we say "Pronto?".
"Pronto? Qui Octavia," that's a simple but effective "Hello? Octavia here".
The second one, with the "dite pure", is a bit longer to explain because explaining that "dite pure" goes into the nuances of levels of formality and how you refer to other people in a conversation. Literally translates to "[feel free to|go ahead and] talk/speak"; "pure" is used as a concessivo, an invite to proceed with the conversation. When spelled out like that in English though it sounds really out of place and machine like. The verb is in second plural: "(voi) dite". Italian has three registers when talking: tu (informal, second person singular), Lei (formal, third person singular), Voi (second person plural, formal, reverential, slightly archaic). I picked "Voi" here because it feels right for Octavia: there's the social distance given by the phone, the fact that she doesn't yet know who's taking on the other end, and her general refinement. If the conversation were to continue with Vinyl, she'd switch to "tu". With Sour Note, she'd use "Lei".
8148320 So, it's kinda like that British comedy, Keeping up Appearances, where the main female character answers the phone with, "The Bucket residence, the lady of the house speaking." (she pronounces "Bucket" as "Bouquet")
great story and I do hope it end with a 3 way between Twilight, Octavia, and Vinyl being together,, I also hope they find out Twilight has copy of they music that she listens to.....
Again, the earth pony gave a haughty sniff. “I shall have you know that Galliard employs a doctor full time, specializing in orthopedics. Any music school worth its salt would do the same, given the nature of injuries likely to occur in our profession.”
Holy shit it lives!

It's been too long. I need to reread this first before the newest chapter to even remember what was going on.
Glad to see you're still alive and kicking, Wrabbit. How've you been?

For casual myth delving, Wikipedia is hard to beat, but don't neglect your bread and butter Google-fu.

You forgot the otolaryngologist, the dermatologist, and the cardiologist.

Also important, but they can only afford to keep so many doctors on call at all times.
