5454944 Change is a slow thing and you're mixing apples and oranges. When Twilight said that, she was referring to the mares treating stallions like sex objects, not biased employment. There is a difference. The next chapter is up and I think you're going to have plenty of ammunition for ranting.
I wish I were halfway decent at drawing. This chapter deserves fanart of Artex in the Conan the Barbarian pose, brandishing his khopesh, with Razor clinging to one leg, an Oriana clinging to the other.
And them making a big deal out of the adoption thing really drives home the alien culture thing.
Meh, I was hoping for a decision on the baby.

I love this story. It is my one of my top go to and awaited novels. There is not much to say in the way of errors, there are a few however scant. The plot is excellent (get your minds out of the gutter), and the character development is amazing. Good show my fine fellow.
go for more than a week before addressing it. Did you every
Drop the y.
Holy mother of god I've been checking this story every day twice and suddenly 3 wild chapters appear! Not cool now I'm gonna go to bed late >_<
A horde of wild chapters appears. You use burst read. Its super effective.
Ahh, Bablefish. Where would we be without you and all the wars of understanding you cause.
5455450 Fixed! Thank you!
Good stuff here. Can't wait to see how the baby is handled
O.o
That language slip.
That is not the kind of statement an ambassador should make at an official meeting. Yeah he covers his tracks afterwards, but the sentiment is still there.
- Petter Boeckman
Over 1500 species of animals practise homosexuality. People who think it's unnatural need to learn themselves some zoology.
5987047 Alright listen: Artex is following his set spiritual beliefs. He explains his feelings on it, BUT he also states that he would never and will never treat anybody any differently because of it! His personal thoughts and beliefs have NOTHING to do with how he views the right that others deserve whether or not he agrees with them! Did he or did he not state that he believes that all gays and lesbians should have the right to love who they wanted AND to be able to do so without fear of persecution? If so then LEAVE IT BE! I am sick of people sending me hateful e-mails about how Artex is a bigot because of his personal beliefs! He DOES NOT HATE GAYS AND LESBIANS, IT'S CALLED 'AGREEING TO DISAGREE'! People need to stop being self-righteous, judgmental jerks and that is on BOTH sides of the topic. Stop LOOKING for a reason to start drama, look down on, or condemn somebody because they disagree with you!
*pant* *pant* ... I'm sorry bro... kind of got carried away there...
It just bugs me when people go looking for fights where there is no real basis for righteous anger. As I said, there have been many hate mails and flame mails because of it, and I don't see why. Artex doesn't know everything, but he certainly doesn't hate on the gays and lesbians if he's arguing FOR their rights. I could see it if Artex said he hated gays and lesbians or if he said it should be a crime or they should be forced to undergo some kind of ill-informed, degrading, judgmental rehab program. Those reasons I could agree with being angry about, heck I would be angry about somebody saying that and I'm a happily married heterosexual. Don't create hate with hand then condemn it with the other. Please, leave this topic alone. I feel very strongly about it and I have had some very lengthy debates with people (especially religious people) about my stance on it. I am glad that you felt comfortable enough to voice your concern on the topic, but please think about the whole picture instead of just that part that angers you. This and accusations of racism are things that will guarantee a long rant from me. Artex stance on the subject is based on his spiritual beliefs, BUT it is also tempered with him doing his level best to be understanding and accepting. With many spiritual types (and especially religious types) most of the time it is the best you can hope for, and I think it's a heck of a lot better than most Conservative types, like Artex.

'if' not 'of'
5455151 pfff I chuckled way too hard at that
Ok.... so, I read this far in, still haven't made a single comment about the story, nor rated it, neither part two nor part one, so I figured I might as well start sometime, and the longer I delay the harder it's gonna get...
With this said, let's hope I manage to remember everything I wanted to say.
Well, the positive is kinda hard to explain. First good point, I've read it this far and still keep on reading, so it's gonna be good enough for that at least. The story is quite deep and it seems to me you've done a lot of research to make this as realistic as possible. I'd say it's gotten some differences with the show, but that's logical, seeing as you raise the maturity level and fill in the gaps.
Characters feel realistic enough that I can emphasize with them, or at least understand where they got their quirks in the cases I don't emphasize, and the plot is pretty engaging.
One thing I might say, I believe that this story isn't as popular as it could be because of two things. One is, the first part took quite a while to take off, and also it is rather heavy. Because of your attempt it does throw some controversial ideas around, and requires a lot of investment from the reader.
In my case, I still have issue remembering the rather extended cast, both humans and pony OCs, because their number is rather overwhelming to me, so I tend to focus on only some of them and try to increase that number as the plot moves on. To be precise, I don't say this is a bad thing. I'll let you draw your own conclusions, though I do believe there is a large amount of readers who are not interested in being challenged so much by a story.
In my own case, I find the weapon theme particularly to be distracting. I'm not from the US, and where I live, people aren't allowed to have weapons and I'd like to think we're happier that way. Yet quite a few times it felt like the fic is trying to promote freedom to carry weapons, an idea I cannot agree with.
I don't think you're trying to use this fic as propaganda for your own ideas, but it does make some parts harder to digest. I'm guessing from your comment that there were people who didn't digest this chapter quite well...
Hope I managed to come accross properly, and not seem aggressive or imposing my own set or morals on you or this fic.
About the romance between Artex and Razor, well, you've made it decently enough, they do seems fit for each other and their relation is progressing naturally enough, though for my taste it seems a little... not sure how to define this... Calculated? Seems they view romantic relations from a very logical, almost cold, perspective. It's actually the first time I've seen or read a romance shown that way.
Lastly I'd like to say about the apparently hot topic of this chapter : Artex's views of homosexuality. Gotta say his first sentence was very direct and a little crude (I think that's the right word for it). Though in the end this part didn't bother me at all, because it is made clear that for one, this is just one character's opinion, and he's shown through the rest of his words that he's not letting that color his judgement.
Even he was a true homo hater, I don't think it would be bothering, so long as it's clear this is one character's opinion. MCs don't have to be paragons of justice after all...
K... I think I've said everything I could remember for now. Oh yeah, I've decided to withhold fav or liking this story until I'm done with reading it (or at least reading all that's currently out already). Just to make sure I don't change my mind partway.
Gonna be honest with you here.
Complete garbage chapter. Absolutely awful. Again I can't comprehend that you wrote it.
It is "tell don't show" of the highest order. way to much completely redundant dialog that does nothing but kill the phasing.
And the politics... Just. .. ugh. It is so fucking heavy-handed I can barely stand it. Sure, you can put in what you want but using this as a debate match against a fictional strawman is just not entertaining to read. Show don't tell man. Show us this happening don't just have the characters talk about it and then never see any consequences of it.
7017231
Heh simmer down its not really that bad, dialogue and talking is how people behave. And there has been a lot of hints towards this through the story.
5987247
Damn that is a lot of frustration and i cannot but agree with you here. Too many people have the idea that if you do not agree with their point of view FULLY you must be evil baddie. Adults have more or less the right to do with their bodies what they want but some people are, in my mind, free to express their opinion in polite and non-harassing way about the matter.
How did it go... "I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it" -Some old dude writing about some other old dude. A lot of people have forgotten that people who oppose things and to them seem regressive are covered by same rights they are.
To be honest, what Crash Course is after is a pipe dream. Gay stallions actually do hurt society with removing so many potential foals from being born. To try to protect them from the worst abuses is applaudable but when you have 80+% of the populace strongly against it, there is no way you are going to stop ostrization.
7017231
Do have to agree with that this story is a lot or even mostly of tell not show. And it is with ideas that a lot of people would debate on. I think a lot of it is what the author thinks what the characters would say but as portraying values to readers, the Parental argument of "because I say so" comes across.
7030534
Well not really, you could have herds of 2 stallion who are the primary couple and then invite females who more or less want just children and stable community to raise them in there should be no real problem to anyone that is not a moral one.
There is plenty of gays who are married with a woman and have children with her.
7031918
And they've already stated in the previous story that ponies have all but perfected artificial insemination.
So if a mare REALLY wanted a foal, she could join a herd of mares (not so much a herd of attraction, but rather just mares who're close to eachother as friends, which would supply them with companionship and the family support needed for their foals) and choose to inseminate using donated semen from the gay stallions.
It certainly wouldn't be too common, but it WOULD be a viable social adaptation.
It would allow a better life for the mares (especially those who go their whole lives without ever finding a stallion to love anyway) who want children and a stable family life.
The end there reminds me of a phrase I hear once when regarding british politics: 'Her Majesties Loyal Opposition'
Artex has got to by the most oximoronic person ever. Religous enough to know the details of the story of Adam and Eve & Jesus, believes said stories are true, and believes sexuality is a choice, but is also level headed and believes people should be respected for their life choices.
What, really? no one? I guess m going to have to
8145670 FINALLY! I have been waiting for somebody to link that!
Smart way to kill off the pony population
Sowing the seeds of death and gay stallions will kill them selves off because they can't reproduce.
8588962 It's not that. Artex is one of those who feels that everybody has the right to be and do what they want, especially if he disagrees with it. It is one of his core values, freedom for all, not merely those he agrees with. If we believe in freedom, then we have the responsibility to ensure that everybody has those liberties, so long as they do no injury or damage to others and do not infringe on the freedoms of others.

You do know there are trillions of trillions of sperm sells in a single ejaculation right? If only one man where alive, in theory he’d have more then enough in him to fertilise every woman in the world several times over, yah sure inbreeding would be a issue for a bit, but humans would live on.
