... Ok, there's dark and then there's Dark.
5015705 It's very dark.
Great, but now a human has to explain to Celestia that human history has just a much subtle complexity with underlying context, that we to have learned and developed from our history and that we didn't have a "Natural Magic" to force us to do the right thing.
5015782 And then explain that we aren't too far away from them, with areas in the world in which Torture and Rape are Still considered pretty much legitimate actions in a conflict.
I'd like Artex to do some follow up questions on this and gender equality in social life and government. The Arch Magister is female too so maybe also in academia.
EDITED TO ADD:
From Ch.32 of the original story.
Seems like there is still sexism in ponyland.
I see Dan still doesn't have the nerve to correct a princess, when she says something stupid. Good thing he's the human emissary.
Will there be a chapter with a darker take on the unification of the three tribes?
remove 'on'
5016225 What did Twilight say that was stupid?
What? No comments on the scene with Big Mac and Cheerilee?

See the post below my last one, for the relevant quotes from UP1.
5016300 Care to explain?

Learning from past mistakes is an ongoing journey, without end. There is no point at which you can declare victory, and stop trying.
People die out, but ideas don't. It sounds like Twilight is falsely equivocating the two. Golden Cusp's outburst, at the Unity Pact meeting, and the support she got from some of the crowd showed that the old ways of thinking are alive, and kicking in modern Equestria. Twilight is willfully ignoring that fact, because it's inconvenient to her moral superiority complex.
"We're morally superior, because magic." is the Princesses' default position whenever dealing with humans. Dan just tacitly accepts it, whenever he's dealing with them. Every thing they say to him drips with smugness. Even when they discuss the greatest failings of ponies, they distance themselves from it, as if they could never fall into the same traps. There can't be any progress in relations between the two species until someone knocks that idea out of their thick skulls.
5016394 Wow, that's not what she meant at all. Not even close. Also, when have the Princesses said, 'We're morally superior because magic.'? Their society developed differently and while some may seem to think like that, the Princesses know that Humans are better adapted to prosper in war while their Ponies are more adapted to prosper in peace. Neither is inherently 'better' than the other, but they do certainly clash. You are absolutely correct on one thing, there is still some sexism in Equestria. It is nowhere near as prevalent and thanks to the new laws, is now illegal to act on it. This will be an occasional issue. :)

It was adorable . . . right up to the point where we learned why she was trembling.
Would love to see the canon version of this explanation, done as an episode, to explain why ponies. Bet Larson would have a heart attack trying to even think of it, even given Party Of One.
Big Mac and Cheerilee. Yaay.

"We're morally superior, because magic."
Kinda true, but humans are typically "We're morally superior, because technology." except that they don't have their technology in this world.
Were the situation reversed and ponies were on Earth without magic, we would be the smug ones.
I want to know about the Gryphon's Eternal Penance now.
I will ask that you don't tall Spike about this, he's far too young to understand.
I think you meant don't tell Spike love the story by the way.
Wow, this is some kind of fucked up right here.
6740179 No species is perfect. I decided to use this to help accentuate the background differences in how each society developed.
Hold on. Hold the fuck on.
So... havet I got this straight?
A sexual relationship WILL start with a mare being raped? All of pony kind loose their virginity by raping or being raped?
And this happens because the world decided to mind rape all of pony kind?
What. The. Actual. Fuck Man?
Umm so the answer the natural magic had to help mares from not getting submissively raped was to forcibly rape them? WTF.Edit: After talking to the author and reading further I realize that what mares have is an extreme case of the jitters and no raping in this story.

It's more like a magically induced seizure/panic attack brought on by incredibly extreme nervousness, because magic messed them up as a species after the whole Gender Wars thing.
The only way for the mares to get past it, is to push through it.
Seeing as how the magic cripples them mentally, it requires outside help.
well this was defiantly interesting i can say.
10002528 Who did I defy? Did you mean 'definitely'?
...

But we didn't have magic to knock sense into our heads when we acted like idiots. Too bad the magic takes so long to do something about the problem considering the fight with the humans wouldn't have happened if magic had butt in to stop it.
All this having been said...
I feel this section of a Nostalgia Critic video on Quest for Camelot is close to my first reaction to this section of the story. (See warning below before leaving clip to watch full video!)

As in, "God dammit, Razor! What did Twilight JUST say?!
Twilight to Spike sitting next to her: "You're too young to hear of such things."
Razor to Twilight sitting with Spike next to her: "Yes, but wasn't the suicide of so many stallions by jumping off a cliff so horrible? I mean, can you just imagine?"
Real smooth brain, Razor..."
Craziest to me is that, after all was said, neither did Spike react to the declaration of what happened; nor did Twilight react to the blunder Razor committed at all.
