5960587 Well this one is longer.
No idea where is the original piece come from but this should do :D
Plan meet contact.
'Fuck subtle' is a pretty accurate description of that ending.

I was all set to start complaining whenever whenever Artex, Razor, and Oriana try to expand their herd, but I'll make an exception for Rose Thorn. She's made of awesome and hugs.
That's if there was some truth in Darryl and Artex ribbing each other.
5978132 What do you mean,
?
Also, there are two more mares coming after Rose Thorn. Artex said he wanted five after all.
5978197 In Chapter 64, when Darryl, and Artex were joking with each other, I wasn't sure if joking was all they were doing, or if Artex and Rose were seriously evaluating each other as potential mates.
The chemistry between Razor and Artex is great. Always has been. She's a keeper.
Then Oriana came in, and I had misgivings. I've developed an aversion to herd fics. Seen too many fics where the herd thing was just used as an excuse for a parade of clop scenes, or for the author to soapbox about alt lifestyles.
Then you handled it great. Approached it cautiously, reasonably, and maturely. Oriana managed to fit into the existing dynamic between Artex and Razor, without feeling like a third wheel. Oriana's relationship with Artex isn't as developed as Razor's is, but it has loads of potential.
I remember when Artex said he doesn't expect to live as long as the ponies, and he wants his wives to have a full sized herd for support, when he's gone, so I knew more were coming. I've just been assuming that every additional mare added to the herd is going to dilute the intimacy that they share. That's just my upbringing talking. Feel free to prove me wrong.
5978319 It was bot at the same time, a bit of each. You don't have to worry about overabundant clop scenes. I'm probably going to have a hard time with those and I don't think there will be too many. Props if you can guess the identities of the other two. I'll give you a hint: you've already met one.
Pity, given the mapping, that noone had ground meld, or phase, or even dig or burrow.
That ending though, I take it someone is going to call on the god of distractions?
Leroy Jenkins.
5978478 You have to say it correctly:
So Rifin can fly? If not, just how high could he conceivably jump?
If nothing else will distract them, A 2 story tall changeling wrapped in green flame, plowing through the roof of their cavern would make probably scare the piss out of just about anyone.
And that guard is lucky Rose didn't snap her hooves to the side, all sudden like. Pony necks shouldn't bend that way.

Is it Steady Hoof, Vaiawa, or Twilight Sparkle?
5978646 I am NOT shipping Artex with any of the Mane 6. Might be one of the other two though.
Rose is friggn awesome. Her and AJ would be a Damn fine sight.
couldn't Chris like instantly take care of any hostiles by himself? I mean we've already established that his portals are monofilament sharp and that he can basically call them up(forgive the rpg terminology here) as either a free action or reaction.
5979917 He could have, yes. He could have also killed everybody down in the caves, but they wanted precision and also wanted to keep the non combatants alive.
5980575 With fine enough control, he can or should be able to juggle the portals around and kill people with extreme accuracy, just like a sharpshooter can taking out targets sitting in a fast moving car from nearly a kilometer away.
The longest kill shot till now is about over 2 miles at a walking target...
5987047 OI, another one? See other comments on the same chapter for explanation.
bet, and 'down there are'
Wow, Bloodmage flirting is creepy... "Let's go talk about blood thickness differences between the species that we enslave and drain! Fun for the whole family!"
Rose Thorn nodded firmly and held up her right forehoof, "I hope I'm saying this correctly," she cleared her throat and spoke in American English, "I don't need... no firepower when I'm... rockin' these... guns."
___
R.J. chuckled darkly at the former Marine's newly discovered method of killing, "Turned his ass into a corpse-cicle."
I like her.
*plays stripper music and whistles at her*
...
I think I need to stop reading for a bit.
anoter great chapter
Steel cartridges would be terribly expensive and a waste for Shotshells. You would have to laquer the casing to prevent steel on steel galling. Quality control would be hard since technology is at the cottage industry level. The walls of the steel would have to be thin or they would weigh so much that not a lot would be carried. With the thin steel, any defect in the metal would cause a failure to hold pressure causing severe damage to the gun. Much easier would be to have a small brass base with a paper walls. Cheaper and easier to make.
I understood that reference.

Exactly what I was thinking.
That's how they made them before plastic (and quality control on thick wrapped paper is pretty easy, so much so that even back in the early 1800's it was the preferred shell casing material).
Fun fact:
There's a scene where they messed up in the first of the Robert Downey Jr. "Sherlock Holmes" movies.
In the intro, a guy in a coach with a shotgun loads a shell, and the shell is the red plastic used in today's shotgun shells.
Yet the story takes place in the late 1800's, WELL before plastic was used in ANY commercial products, let alone cost efficient.
In reality, a shotgun shell from that period would have been a "wet cardboard" color of brown paper wrapped so tightly it would be hard (using the same process they use to make those paper sticks for lollipops).
Honestly Chris could be way scarier if he wanted. Fuck using portals as edged weapons(though that is wonderful), he could open portals inside you, instantly doing the same damage. He could warp space around you so you have no exit path and everyone outside has no entrance path, isolating you until he was ready to deal with you. He could teleport in an entire batalion at a moments notice, better than even CREED at his height. Oh, and for real fun- he could have portals that just led toflat walls, and use them like a bug swatter. Sure, its not actually moving- but your skull wont understand that as you get crushed by a stationary object.
Then again, proper application of precision telekinesis could theoretically kill a human being in seconds(two veins in the back of the neck- pinch them and blood quickly builds up, popping the brain like a water balloon), so its generally accepted that 'what should be more difficult in fiction and RPGs often takes a back seat to 'what instantly breaks the setting if allowed'.

Sherlock Holmes was set during the 1880-1890s time period: very close to the turn of the century and about the same period as the real life Jack The Ripper was running around. Lots of fun and cool shit was being invented in pretty much every field of industry and science on a daily basis by just about every nation on the planet.—led up to WWI
Late 1700s, folks were still using muzzle-loading flintlocks, and not much of anything new was being created—but some interesting shit was going on between France and England at the time that let a bunch of disgruntled folks take advantage of the distractions to make an opportunity for themselves....—look up the French&Indian, Napoleonic, and American Revolutionary Wars
