Twilight Sparkle was sent from Canterlot to supervise the Summer Sun Celebration in Ponyville, but Nightmare Moon didn’t put in an appearance.

However, Twilight saw a certain rainbow-maned pegasus performing stunts during the Celebration, and was highly impressed—and, to her great surprise, aroused. When Dash accidentally injured Princess Celestia, Twilight had her arrested.

Now, Dash has been imprisoned in Fluttershy's cottage, and Twilight, alone in the library, is torn between her logical mind and these new, strong feelings she's having toward Rainbow Dash...

I don't see why this has more downvotes then upvotes, i like it, nice work :pinkiehappy:

Hmm. There is a sex tag, yet no sex. Confusing and might be the reason there is more downvotes than upvotes.

5192814 Thanks for the tip. "Sex" tag removed. I was pretty new to FiMFiction when I uploaded this. I'm used to dA, which only has two ratings: "Mature" and "General." So I usually play it safe and select all possible controversial points that are even hinted at.

I might have figured it out later, but after some really negative feedback from friends, and all the downvotes on here, I just kind of hid in shame for a while and pretended the story didn't exist... and that I didn't have an account here. Truth be told, I'm not a huge fan of it anymore, either--I feel it lacks heart. I know I could just delete it, but I figure heck, I spent long enough on it, at the very least it can stand as an example of what not to do in the future. Besides, writers are sometimes poor judges of their own work. (Stephen King has stated that he thinks Rose Madder, one of my favorite books by him, is a "stiff, trying-too-hard" novel.) So maybe even though I don't much like it anymore, somepony else will.

5673255 I quite enjoyed the story, even if the song portion could have been better. And I am not even sure if FIMfiction allows songfics.

5673366 Thank you. I'm glad you liked it.

*chuckles* It's interesting to me that the song portion is the part you liked least, as originally this wasn't a story at all. It started out as a re-write of the song, nothing more, with fairly minor edits at that. It was just for my own amusement, so all I changed were names, the phrase "raven hair" to "rainbow mane," and the gender of the singer referenced in the first verse ("man" to "mare"). And anything else that needed altering to make those changes rhyme/scan. Then, like I said in the Author's Notes portion, I started thinking about Equestria's belief system, and Celestia as a Sun Goddess of sorts, so I changed the fires of Hell to the cold darkness of night. After that, it was a whole new song, something I felt proud of, so I decided to share it with a few Brony friends. Everypony had the same comment: that the writing was fine, but the content itself was ridiculously OOC for Twilight.

See, I don't think it is... Twilight as she is now, yes, absolutely, but I think that with the right amount of pressure applied at the right moment in time, she would absolutely be capable of actions similar to Frollo's. The two characters' personality types are remarkably similar, and we've even seen hints of Twilight's darker side in canon. (An idea that is very prevalent in my beliefs is that most people--not all, but most--are capable of almost anything, even things that in normal situations they'd abhor. Certain personality types lend themselves more to certain actions, both positive and negative. In a different world, with a different upbringing and different social norms, Frollo could have been not only a good man, but a great one, one people would admire and use as a model of the goodness in humanity. And in a different world, Twilight could have been a pony feared and despised. Twilight is a character I love very much, precisely because of this. Because she has very realistic character flaws, and has still become a wonderful pony, not by ignoring these traits but by accepting them and using her whole self--both positive and negative--to grow in a positive way.)

EEP. Well, that was a long tangent. Sorry 'bout that. Anyhoof, my original point was just that the story portion originally existed only to show the factors that influenced Twilight to the point of singing this song.

TL;DR: The portion you liked best originally existed only to frame the portion you liked least.

BTW, I remember being worried that songfics might not be allowed here myself. I did a pretty thorough check before publishing, and I was unable to find any restrictions at all as to types of stories allowed, save for the "Don't Post" list on the New Story creation page. As far as I could glean from that, songfics are allowed, as long as a) The song doesn't contain copyrighted lyrics (so if I'd copied "Hellfire" in its original form, instead of doing a rewrite, I couldn't publish it here); and b) The story isn't JUST the song, as that would be "script format."

4394328 Thank you! (Ages late, I know, but er... better late than never? :twilightblush: )

5676324 Well, the music video that inspired you is a favorite, so naturally I had to see this as well. Though I wonder if someone that can do a good Twilight voice could sing the song. Or an altered version of the song to better fit Twilight Sparkle and Rainbow Dash, the characters involved.
