This story is a sequel to A Prolonged Engagement

Apple Bloom has been chasing after Chip Mint for the longest time, and is distraught when she finds that he has already found himself a fillyfriend. Her fellow Cutie Mark Crusaders suggest that she try Featherweight instead, but Apple Bloom is uneasy, believing that him getting into a relationship with a simple farm pony like her could hamper his future career as a journalist. Tootsie Flute knows better, and tells everypony the story of how her two mothers, Lyra and Bonbon, were brought together.

This story was thought up long before Slice of Life, and contains plot features that contradict the aforementioned episode, hence the AU tag. I would have altered the storyline to suit, but this would have meant a complete rewrite as it was nearly half-done by the time the episode aired.

The companion literary piece to the commissioned artwork by dori-to, "Relaxing on a Saturday Night", the story describes the events both before and after the scene illustrated...a barfight in the "13 Shots Bar" just outside the Canterlot Training Center. This artwork was featured in the "Equestria Daily" Drawfriend.

What happens when you put twenty-eight war ponies in a bar with a gaggle of Griffons?
Do you really need to be told? Not everything in Equestria is magic and friendship.

2018 Update: Yes, I am still working on the continuation of this story.

Personally rated "Young Adult"--no explicitness, but any and all triggers short of it are on the table. I personally recommend reading this story in the Serif font.

Three worldly mares--self-identifying as the BGs (Backgrounders)--bring fun and a semblance of meaning to their oddly dysfunctional lives by carousing, canoodling, and capitalizing on chances to help the world that rejected them. However, the three share one other bizarre commonality--and once it is discovered, a more intense and insane journey begins. Life won't be the same--nor was it ever. A mystery-genre emotional roller coaster inspired by, and in tribute to, SS&E's Background Pony. Also contains significant Bee Gees and maybe other song references, if you're into that sort of thing.

This is my first ever written work of fiction. Cover art by Tricky Dick.

A visit to a grave causes one mare to recall all the things she did wrong, from the first meeting with her best more than friend, to where she now stands.

After a magical incident involving a bench and a back, Lyra and Bon Bon get a letter from Berry Punch, who is vacationing by the Equestrian Sea, who asks the two to come over and get better aquainted with each other. Reluctantly Lyra agrees, and so the first of many dominoes begin to fall on their adventure.

Once arriving at Berry Punch's, a storm arises and Bon Bon is lost in the process, leaving Lyra alone with Berry Punch. Although she doesn't like the wine mare very much, she begins to warm up to her and soon the two are dying for one another's glances. But Bon Bon is still missing, and Lyra is determined to find her... But not before taking a few unlikely rest stops along the way.

I wanted to trash this, but I thought I might see if anybody actually likes the idea before doing so. Enjoy either way~

This is a Slice of Life story/poem about a typical weekend for Berry Punch. I just wanted to explore the cyclical nature of an "average" Sunday and the constant re-examination that goes on in life. Alcohol is involved, as with most Berry Punch stories. The tone is somewhat dark, hence the "Teen" rating, but there is no violence or graphic content above Teen.
