If you've read up to chapter XII of A Game of Kings and Pretty Pony Princesses you'd know that Hauteclaire gave himself his name from the French epic The Song of Roland.
Well, I found a translation at an antique bookstore and just finished reading it. Here are some fun facts about the story:
Remember the "Ballad of the Crystal Ponies"?
Fluttershy sings the line "They had a petting zoo with tiny ewes."
What if this book, being old, isn't an exact translation, and "Petting Zoo" is actually a euphemism for a brothel. You know, like the other definition of petting:
Phrase used in old-fashioned teen sex manuals for foreplay without intercourse.
So.
I've been wondering how to write this blog post for the better part of four weeks. I liked the idea of a longer post working out feelings, or musing about the nature of grief, or sharing an experience with a rejected Simpsons couch gag* that became eerily relevant not twelve hours later. I might still do one of those things, but for now there's no way other way to say it than to say it.

Here it is, my biggest project yet, and perhaps my biggest project of all time. A multiverse story. Today, the ponies throw open the gates to the multiverse, and nothing will be the same.

Getting a Score Album for a movie made completely outside the Hollywood system (despite Lionsgate distributing it), and one that, though it more then turned a nice profit at the US box office alone (not to mention the excessive foreign receipts), has a reputation for financially underperforming, is a miracle. There's no doubt about that. But like any Score Album, it doesn't include ALL the music from the film
