When you're the immortal ruler of an entire kingdom, the most important quality to possess is a passion for your work. But passion, unless tempered by restraint, has a way of biting one in the flank.

Princess Luna is slowly recovering from her thousand year exile. Meanwhile on another world entirely Princess Elspeth of Valdemar is trying a new sort of portal spell, which will eventually turn Luna's world upside down. Now she has to face her past and choose her future, all the while dealing with the excitement, adventure, danger, and Pinkie Pie parties.

The day after Nightmare Night, Princess Celestia unexpectedly visits Twilight at her library. She scolds Twilight, accusing her of forcing Luna to relive the worst time of her life by taking on the guise of Nightmare Moon.

Luna is close behind her sister, and she and Twilight have a heart-to-heart conversation wherein each comes to understand the other a bit better.

This story takes place shortly after the events of Luna Eclipsed.

Dear Diary,
Looking back, a scientific, step-by-step plan is completely ineffective for social situations (Note to self: don't do them, ever). Inviting Princess Luna to a Pinkie Pie Hearth's Warming party, with a checklist of steps in your head, was an awful idea. There are too many variables that a checklist cannot prepare for, such as an entrancing outfit. The plan resulted in a spectacular failure of when awkward meets anxious.
For future use, a spreadsheet might be better.
