It is said that nothing in life is free, and when your life lacks any foreseeable end, the most precious things come at the highest of costs.

Is it worth it?

Is love worth pain so great that it sinks into madness? Is it worth insanity so intense that it gives way to evil? Is it worth malevolence so destructive that it aims to annihilate an entire civilization?

The answer is hidden like a Rainbow in the dark.

For as long ago as she can remember, Applejack has always had a best friend in Winona. She and her dog had grown up side by side, working together about the farm and enjoying each others company, and playing together when their day's labors were complete. Winona had even saved Applejack's life.

One October, Applejack finds herself alone for Applebuck Season, and quickly becomes overwhelmed with the amount of work ahead of her. But when Winona starts exhibiting alarmingly strange behavior, a high-strung Applejack's patience is quickly worn out. And in the end, the dog leads its master to do something that will haunt her for the rest of her life...

Inspired by the memory of my own dog...

"My name is Lyra Heartstrings, and you will not remember me. You won't even remember this conversation. Just like with everypony else I've ever met, everything I do or say will be forgotten. Every letter I've written will appear blank; every piece of evidence I've left behind will end up missing. I'm stuck here in Ponyville because of the same curse that has made me so forgettable.
