Midnight and the Future of the Anarchyverse · 4:33pm May 15th, 2021
As of this moment, All These Midnight Days is complete. The epilogue is up, and I can finally sigh with content…
And then panic because now the real work begins. As many of you may know, I didn’t start off wanting to create a big old interconnected universe, but here we are. I originally just wanted to tell a few short adventures starring the ponies that meant so much to me, and now I’ve got over half a million words of stories, only a few of which I ever thought I’d get done.
So, first off: Thank you all for sticking with me. Over three-hundred of you decided my horsewords were word-enough for you to stick around and see what other words I might apply to tiny horses. I cannot fully describe what it feels like to know so many people find something worthwhile in my mad ramblings. In another life, I might’ve been a cult leader.
What was I saying? Right.
Second: We aren’t done yet! The Anarchyverse is only growing, and I felt the time was right to start our glorious march to World Domination! I mean, expanding the readership and the reach of the stories themselves. Ha. Ha.
Whatever, I’m rambling. We have a group!
Hop over to the Anarchyverse Group and check out what we got. So far, there’s a Reading Order Guide, as well as a longer Summary of the Entire Timeline thus far. There will be spoilers in that thread, so if you don’t need a refresher on what’s what, I’d suggest not going there too soon.
Otherwise, I’d love to get some art or discussion threads going over there. And there’s at least one TVTropes thread already going. I do plan on making a page over there one day, and it’d really help my old man brain if anyone who thought of a good trope or two could chime in.
Now, as to the stories of the Anarchyverse themselves…
Well, I have some ideas. First, I’d like to prioritize The Legend of Trixie again. It’s been a while, and Trixie’s story is a sort of continuity bottleneck. Stuff is gonna happen in that story that affects everything around it, so I’d like to get it done ASAP. Unlikely, given that it’s a bigg’un. Very long story. Will definitely be the longest of all my stories, once it’s done.
But beyond that, I’d like to work on more short stories. Shorter stories get more attention on the site, it seems, and a lot of the ideas I have aren’t really good as long form stories.
The next new story coming is a direct sequel to Anarchy, and will cover the conditions of Chrysalis’ release from her stone prison. After that, there are a couple of shorts I’d like to do featuring Anarchy and her friends. All of them could do with more characterization than they’ve been given, and I think everyone would agree Ann is cute. There are also some ideas for stories about the Pillars, some comedic stories about the Princesses, and stuff set in the EqG world.
So, lots of short stories. But there are also a couple of big stories out there. They’re planned out completely, but… they’re also going to be exhausting due to their length and some of their contents.
First big one I wanna mention is Time’s End. You may recognize the name and pic:
… from the end of Sunset Glimmer. Yes, this one will be the Avengers of the Anarchyverse. A war-fic of my very own, the culmination of the entirety of the Anarchyverse to date. And it will be my big Starlight Glimmer story. The one where she will have a chance to undo the damages done to the doomed timelines she created back in The Cutie Re-Mark.
Hope everyone’s excited for that one.
The other major story is… under necessary silence at the moment. All I will say is that this second story will be the final one. The Grand Finale of the Anarchyverse as it was originally conceived. The Spirits of Harmony will be my final word on the fates of the Main Six in the Anarchyverse.
Will there be more stories after it? Yes, I think.
Will more stories take place after it? Perhaps… but that has yet to be decided.
