Howdy, folks! First and foremost, as always, Adorable Applejack:

Now then...

I just wanted to point out that Best Left Unsaid has earned a feature on Equestria Daily! You know, waaaaay back in the day, when I sat down at the coffee shop down the road from the Drill Sergeant School's barracks and began typing the very first words of what would become Under A Luminous Sky, one of the major goals was to get featured on EqD. What can I say? I wanted attention and praise. So... not much has changed!

Still, even though time has somewhat dulled my excitement about EqD, it still sticks in my head as a milestone of success. I always submitted stories to EqD, well, the ones that would appeal to a broad audience. I didn't submit T.P.K. because it's so niche. Hell, it's a pony story using D&D characters from a single game! That's like a niche within a niche within a niche. Same goes with Memories Returned. It really only makes sense if you at least know about the Austraeoh series. With Best Left Unsaid, I felt it had enough heart and character that people would dig it. So last month, I submitted it, and last week, the infinitely awesome Pascoite gave it the once over.

He then sent me a 2,300 word private message detailing all the shit I did wrong.

Not gonna lie... that kind of shattered my ego. It had been so long since someone had put my work under such a fine microscope. Made me realize I'd gotten a bit sloppy. Still, Pasc is a total bro, and he helped me work through the problems... as soon as I had gotten past my mental breakdown, of course. :pinkiecrazy:

Still, I am very proud of this story, even more so now that it's refined even further. To anyone who read it because of that post, I hope you enjoyed it! Never forget that I fucking love you all. Til next time stay safe, stay free, and stay metal! Jake The Army Guy out!

So happy for you my dude. You write beautiful stuff.

I've had a similar bruising from EqD. It was good for me in the long run, but at the time it really did smart.

Congrats! It's well-earned!

Whenever I get a long letter detailing my many literary flaws from Pascoite, I always have to remember this is a good thing, because his family tree has a tendency to this...

Dear Professor Einstein,
Your recent theory seems revolutionary, but far too condensed. Please add details so...

Dear Shakespeare,
Your work is far to bawdy, derivative, and trite, but I think there are a few positive points that deserve expanding...

Dear Oog,
Round rock invention good. Need work. Maybe catchy name other than Round Rock Thing.

Just remember Jake! The editor is your friend! Just keep reciting that, over and over. Anyhow, congrats! Best Left Unsaid is one of my favorite short stories of yours and I'm glad it's getting the recognition it deserves! Also somehow it fell out of my favorites list so thank God you posted this! ... Now I gotta go through and see what else disappeared....

Congrats, Jake, and I was happy to help. The story deserves it, and more to the point, you deserve it.

And in a "turnabout is fair play" way, I've also gotten some stark rejections from EqD that I learned a lot from.

Funny, Pascoite gave an essay to help one of my first submissions get in EQD, too. I haven't messed up the right spelling of 'whoa' ever again. XD

I stopped submitting to them a long time ago, but it was a big morale boost to get in back when I was a developing writer.

Congrats, dude! And you too, 5407638, with a heapin’ helpin’ o’ thanks! Just like with Jake, it was your sage advice that made my last foray onto EQD possible!
