Up for grabs: a parody title in search of a story · 3:59pm Jun 30th, 2020

This is one of those 'I just saw one too many of the @$%%^& things' title concepts. Once you see the title itself, you'll understand. And maybe you'll even have a story to go with it, which is something I'm lacking at the moment. Shortly after posting this blog, I'll be focusing efforts on a Rarity one-shot comedy piece because dear gawds, could I use a laugh -- but that means I'm not really thinking about the title below.

So I thought I'd toss it out there for the group. See what y'all can do with it. And whoever wants to, can try to write it. Ready?

Equestria's Possessive Apostrophe

Best part? If it goes wrong, you get to blame me.

So... a punctuation mark going full yandere? That sounds like a crossover OC from a work that I don't actually know but am certain exists. Knowing Japan, it may not even need to be an OC.

Someone casts a spell that randomizes grammatical rules. Twilight is gonna kill a bitch.

Cadence's Gynecologist - Doctor Strange Love
(Or How I Learned To Stop Worrying And Love The Bum)

....No, that's probably M rated.

apostrophe2
Noun. An exclamatory passage in a speech or poem addressed to a person (typically one who is dead or absent) or thing (typically one that is personified).

A particularly poetic villain addresses his would be conquest, only for the Bearers to meaningfully clear their throats at the end?

At the end of Shinsham's time travel shenanigans, Twilight returns to a world that's almost the one she left... except the rules of grammar covering apostrophe placement are slightly different. This annoys her in ways she cannot adequately explain for the rest of her life.

(for bonus points, the story should be written entirely in the alternatively correct rules)

The villain's secret lair has to be on San Serriffe.

IDK the story, but I'm sure that it involves the unnamed proprietor of the erotica shop in Coin-Operated Mare

Rainbow Dash: "An apostrophe... that's, like, an apocalypse combined with a catastrophe, right?"

reminds me of a silly short gag in that crazy "mlp time loops" collab:
"pprntly vwls dn't xst n ths lp." "apparently vowels don't exist in this loop."

Clothes Horse one shot? YAY!

I got about a third into that series but they got a bit crossover heavy for my taste.

My wife has decided to give in to the modern usage of the posessive plural, ponies's, whereas I haven't yet capitulated and still insist on ponies'.

Let's see...
Cadance recruits Twi to help her translate all the ancient literature of the Crystal Empire into modern Equestrian.
As we saw in previous Estee stories, their writing is "quirky" to say the least.
Being isolated for most of it's history has made the Empire the crazy cat lady of grammar and punctuation.
They never get rid of any rules, symbols, or letters, but simply add more with whimsical abandon.
A native can infer not just the era, but a great deal of implied context and subtext just from what rules are in play.
A non-native begins to understand Sombra's point of view.
Did Cadance accidentally legally define her position as "property" of the Crystal Empire, instead of princess?
DUN DUN DUUUUN!

That sounds like something that would get the porn tag.

Hmmm, I'm now thinking of a setup for an argument between Twilight (obviously a staunch grammar prescriptivist) and Starlight (an equally staunch descriptivist). Can Equestria survive?
