Juniper Montage may have been given a second chance, but before she can truly embrace friendship... she'll have to overcome her crippling, deep-seated fear of it.
So I was originally trying to write this big essay blogpost about where I've been and the future of Bookish and all that, but... it didn't pan out. So we'll do the much, much shorter version that should still tell you what's important.
The Zephyr Heights royals just helped change the world. Unfortunately, this isn't the first time they've done so, and they'll have to answer for that... just as soon as they work on themselves.
4916651 Gosh... I have not kept up with you well enough. I was always hoping you'd run into Aggretsuko if only because it seemed like exactly the kind of show you needed in your life. I'm kinda depressed it's hit at such a bad time for you, though.
So I remember that great adage you used a little while back when talking about how to write good "Pony" stories: "Stories about ponies are stories about people." For all that the designs and the world are fantastical, they are ultimately used to house stories that we as people can understand and relate to, sometimes in deeply personal ways. And I think that is exactly why "Aggretsuko" has so struck a chord with people (including me; I would happily nominate it as one of THE best anime shows of the last several years). Its colorful characters and bombastic (often quite literally) sense of humor are enjoyable enough in their own right (it is endlessly enjoyable to pick apart what the animal a character is tells us about who they are, and the show's jokes all land perfectly) but, as the linked video itself observes, they're also ultimately vehicles to allow us to better connect to the show's inner most message. And that message is one that I, you, and so many others can relate to. Because stories about Ponies, or in this case Pandas, are stories about people. Which is mostly just me gushing about "Aggretsuko" and re-iterating stuff the video said a lot better than me, I know, but I connect your observation with the show's merits for a reason. Namely that I think it says something that you and this exceptionally popular well-received and wonderfully-crafted show share an ethos, at least from where I sit. I think it says good things about the kind of person you are, not just as a story-teller or a fan but just as a human being who lives in a world that is filled to the brim with Ideas. How we interpret and understand and connect with ideas is, I think, a deeply important and horribly underrated part of how we interact with the world at large and how we learn and respond to that world. And I guess I just hope it means something for you when I say I think you've got an exceptionally sharp mind for that exact sort of thing. This is all a little rambly and I'm sure it's even more saccharine than usual owing to the residual effects of how awesome and special I found last weekend to be, but it's also just sorta the truth as I see it and so I choose to speak it here and hope it means to you the things I want it to. Or at the very least that it makes some kind of sense. XD
Still need to watch that show.
Thank you.
Are... are you ok?

All the hugs. I hope your situation improves!
Oof. Brutal.
...but...
also uplifting, in a way.
I guess that's life. ☺
Everything is all right as long as best girl Fenneko is around.
