I may have found another crackfic muse · 4:02pm Apr 15th, 2018

In the New column:

[Adult story embed hidden]

My first thought upon seeing that short description:

A luck of leprechauns starts following Rainbow to see if they can find gold at the end of her tail.

Turns out that isn't the story the author is telling. And having searched the site, it seems that no one else has ever told it -- despite how much it feels like a retroactively obvious concept.

However...

:pinkiecrazy:

That link does not count as my making a story recommendation. Seriously. It doesn't. It really, really doesn't.

Thanks for the story recommendation

Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you, right here on this very stage, the typical American voter reading comprehension! :rainbowwild:

I guess I should be afraid. Be very afraid. On the other hand, I'll probably have to read it anyway just to satisfy my curiosity....

I have literally no idea what the hell I just read. Thanks for the un- recommendation :rainbowderp:

Well, at least I should look at it to see what it was really about...

(Reads long description) (Reads tags)

Nope.

I think my favorite part of this is the collective noun for leprechauns.

Also, I find myself hoping that the luck finds a bowl of freeze-dried marshmallows instead.

:twilightoops: "Rainbow Dash, what's wrong?"
:rainbowderp: "They're after me lucky charms!"

So apparently the Internet works like this.

"That man just jumped off a bridge!"
"Cool! I got next!"

4840707

Thus begging the question of what a bowl of freeze-dried marshmallows is doing at the end of Rainbow's tail.

Strange are the movements of pegasi bowels.

It's already a crackfic. Why are you being so silly as to get logic involved? :raritywink:

(If anyone asks, she found a box of the stuff inside of new Fluttershy.)

I should probably state this directly: a "crackfic muse" is not necessarily an author whose works are recommended reading. A crackfic muse is a writer whose work, for whatever reason, gives you a story idea. This may be because you perceive the story they didn't write. Whatever they said inspired you to say something else. There may be another interpretation, another possibility -- or seeing something they wrote simply made a concept spark.

Typically, for me, this has meant Windlife. Do I think he's a good writer? I think he's... inspirational, in that things he's written have inspired things I've written. And to that degree, I always make sure to check out a new Windlife piece, just to see what comes from it.

Today's author? I've seen him moving through the New column a few times -- and that's pretty much all I can say about him. But today, he gave me an idea...

It certainly was cracky. On a scale of one to ten, where one is fully coherent and ten is Thirty Hs, I'd give it a strong seven.

oh, you made me think of a story quote:
someone asks about what Pegasi do with their um, sewage.
one of them answers that they use some of it to make fireworks.
"oh no, now i'm stuck with a mental image of the Wonderbolts shooting fireworks out of their rear ends!"
ouch.

I'm so reading whatever story you write from it, Estee. I'm reading the frozen marshmallow out of it. :trollestia:

4840707
I was just about to say the same thing.

4840712
If I get my taxes done in time, you might wish you'd never posted this.

4840843

I don't remember saying this idea was up for open grabs, you idea open grabber.

RD: "They're after my marshmallows!"

inb4 she's talking about Rarity.

4840851
Yeah, I probably shouldn't. The idea I have would likely offend the Irish.

Also, Wrigley, Disney, Wonka, General Mills, Sanrio, AMEX, and probably a couple of other corporate entities as well.

Also, honestly, anyone who can read.

4840707
I've seen "indulgence" on the D&D wiki, and I've also seen "annoyance" elsewhere, but not "luck". I'd be surprised if this is the first time thought of it, but I'd also be surprised if someone thought of it, but rejected it.

I kinda want to suggest "fluck", myself. ("luck" + "flock", in case someone's mind was thinking I'm combining "luck" with a different word...)

Now I’m thinking that they regularly get exterminators in to treat the rainbow factory for leprechaun infestations.

Or that Dash can quickly calculate the BMI of all of Pinkie’s family. Because Somehow our friend Rainbow knows the weight of Pies...

(That was awful.)

How humanoid are you thinking of making these leprechauns?
4841029
I don't get it.

4841036
It’s a pun based on the song from The Wizard of Oz. Somewhere Over the Rainbow.

4841063
...Then I agree it's awful. I discounted that as a possibility because the syllable count was too wonky--one syllable too few before "Rainbow" and two syllables too many after it.

You should have had her team up with a Diamond Dog and a mad Unicorn to eat her least-favorite baked good; that would get you the right syllable count.
Sombra, Rover, and Rainbow
Ate a pie

Late to the party, and slightly disappointed that nobody ever wrote the version based on your interpretation. :rainbowwild:

Estee's gonna, allegedly.
