    Do not adjust your sets

Hey all, sorry but this isn't Rust.

This is Handyman speaking, for those of you who don't know, I'm that guy who writes that fic with that other guy who does the things. Those of you who aren't laughing at the fact I now have an account with a batpony avatar, you have no soul and your first born child will be ginger.

Important Announcement (Please Read) · 12:36am Oct 17th, 2012

Now, then.

As some of you may have noticed, my work output has dropped dramatically, as of late. I have a very good reason for this. At the start of last spring, an idea took root in my head, and refused to leave. That idea eventually blossomed into a fully-grown ambition, ripe with the fruits of possibility. I have been working hard towards fulfilling that wish, and over the course of the next two days, I will see it fulfilled.

I am joining the Unites States military.

The Navy, to be precise.

I am entering under a DEP (Delayed Entry Program), hopefully landing in the job of Nuclear Technician. In addition, I have an ROTC scholarship application currently in processing, and I hope to attend WPI or the University of Maine under it. This way I can accept the officer's training before I have to ship out.

Tomorrow is MEPS and the ASVAB test, where I basically undergo a series of medical exams, background check, and then take the standard military "career aptitude" test, then afterwards I have an officer's interview.

They say I'm a shoe-in for the officer's scholarship, but, barring that, I will be shipping out to boot camp and basic training in nine months. In the event of that happening, Nathan Traveler will be taking over my account for the time I'm away, and might even release a few fics I've got hidden up my sleeve.

The reason all of this matters to you?

Because you get a double helping of Legend and Dark Side this weekend to celebrate. After this, I'll have a lot more free time (as crew ends after Halloween) and will certainly be devoting that to pony.

Will I lose my love for pony once I enter the military?

As a firefighter who has proudly saved lives with an Applejack sticker on his helmet, OH HELL NO.

This has been Rust, who his hanging up his hook and pegleg for a sailor cap and kercheif.

...I'm keeping the bloody eyepatch.

The Marines...I fucking respect those guys. Best of luck!

Well, the best of luck to you. I'm trying to get into the Canadian Armed Forces myself, army branch. Hopefully you get in, eh?

Thank you for your desire to join the services, Rust. You were a great inspiration to me for getting me back writing. Your story, during my first attempt at writing Fatum Fortis Vocat, inspired me to do great and helped me gain so many good friends. These friends, even when I departed, stayed true and are now helping me write Fatum Fortis Vocat Redux. Thank you, Rust, from the bottom of my heart for your wonderful work and your wonderful contributions. I will be praying for your safety, and on behalf of my family whose been Navy, I thank you for your service (even though it has yet to start).

Godspeed and good sailing.
-Travis

Sounds awesome, good luck with it all!
I will play you the song of your people to inspire you!

CDR

And now for something completely different;

... firefighter who has proudly saved lives with an Applejack sticker on his helmet ...
Like a Badass Bawss!

Pony on my friend, pony on.

Cool I happy for you.

Awesome, my respect for you has risen even more.

You shall become a actual pirate, without the bad stuff, and maybe less drinking.

I salute you.

Interesting. Planning on working towards your dolphins, or do you want surface work?

Best of luck!

Good luck Elder Rust...May Celestia be with you :yay:

427108 lol
thanks.
Hell, maybe we get a similar ship assignment, or in the same fleet.
just dont make me salute you bro, seeing as im gunning for NCO

I for one, congratulate you Rust. Joining the military is a noble thing, and hope you grow as a person in the process of serving our country. We'll miss you here, but it's for a good cause. Happy trails, and good luck.

Faith, Courage, Service true, with Honor, Over Honor, Over All

And I, for one, expect to see a US boomer somewhere in the Atlantic with three apples painted onto it's reactor housing :rainbowlaugh:

Best of luck to ya, mate. The military is definitely not for me, which is one of many reasons why I have respect for those in it.

Christ! Why is everyone I'm following joining the military? :applejackunsure:
Anyway, best of luck to you. Don't get yourself killed.

I Wish you Good luck, sir! :rainbowdetermined2:

Good luck out there, Rust! We'll all be rooting for you! Try to avoid icebergs!

Can't really seem to think of anything to say. I mean, hell, ever since I started editing for you, I've actually gotten a lot better at writing my own stories. And to hear you're enlisting, well...gahl, I can't really say much.

Other than it's an honor to pay back some of the massive debt I owe you.

And that I get to wear the hat while you're gone.

Best of luck to you in the Navy, and don't let anyone take your eyepatch

Great...we are letting a pirate into the navy...what could possibly go wrong?...

This has been Rust, who his hanging up his hook and pegleg for a sailor cap and kercheif.

Sorry, this is just too perfect a use for this.

Prosthetic limbs are now a fashion statement.

I lol'd.

My friend i don't know you, but i am happy to hear the choice you have made. I have several brothers who are in the navy, I am the only one who chose a life of intellect. I am glad to see another one to join their ranks. If you ever meet a officer with the last name of Lo Fein, there is a good chance it is one of my brothers.

I wish you luck.

Your going to need it.

Inspiration to us all mate! Not only are you a devoted brony and fantastic writer, but you're going to serve your country and join the bloody NAVY!

No amount of love can be given to you, man.

Good luck man:twilightsmile:

Just make sure you don't easily get seasick:scootangel:

I'll be joining the United States Army as a Combat Medic in a year. I'll hand deliver you a pint if you make landfall near me. Much luck to you.
-Sturrn

Good on you!
Best of luck!

We don't mind.

Though I'll be watching.:pinkiecrazy:

Good luck Rust!
Been a wild ride.

...
But this is just a pit-stop, right?
Because if this is good bye I will be very... Put out.
(PRINCESS BRIDE REFERENCE!)

I also have a cousin in the marines. Haven't talked to him in a while though.
I hope you get in and enjoy doing it!:pinkiehappy:

Welcome to the Navy! I'm not an officer but I am an EM, I couldn't make it to nuclear sadly, GL in MEPS and on the test.

Congratulations Rust, Good luck in your endeavors. Just... be careful alright mate you never know what could happen:pinkiesad2:

Funny Navy story time!

My cousin and his shipmates(correct terminology?) decided for some reason to bring a chicken onto their ship. They had it around for a while as a pet, but you can't have animals cross on international waters or something, so they had to get rid of it somehow. They didn't want to kill it, so they sent it to their Captain's friend (who was also a Captain) in a box labeled "top secret for captain ______'s eyes only!"
So then they crossed international waters.
When they came back, they received a package labeled "top secret".
It was from the other captain.
They opened it, expecting a note or a cooked chicken (one sailor actually brought a fork) but the chicken was inside and alright!
He's still on the ship to this day.
So if you get on a ship with a pet chicken; ask them about it.
The story is much better told from the mouth.

Good luck! Do well!

ACTIVE FUCKING DUTY!

Way to go Rust! Best of luck, (I'm hoping to get into the Canadian army myself) may your victories be sweet, and may your enemies know only fear. "Tosach catha agus deire air" :rainbowdetermined2:

Gentlemen, I go to war with RUST.

My grandad was in the Navy. Watch out for barricuda! They attacked his submarine once. :rainbowderp:

Oh good sir! Thy badassery knows no bounds!
May thee have safe travels and much ale!

My good sir, you are indeed a BADASS.

As someone who is also planning on enlisting In the military next year, you have my deepest support. Here's some advice for boot camp that my dad gave me (he was a navy officer too): you need to get as many calories as you can in the short time you have to eat, so just take a bunch of slices of bread, slather a buttload of butter on them, and pour as much sugar as will fit on them.

Best of luck to you,
Jeff N.

Good luck, and may the fortunes of chaos be on your back.

As a former Marine I have a little something to get off my chest...
Don't do it. You will hate life. You will hate your colleagues.:raritydespair: You will spend most of your time cleaning toilets that may or may not need cleaning, sweeping floors that may or may not need sweeping, and digging holes that may or may not need digging.
I kid of course.:pinkiecrazy: However, I do recommend heading over to www.terminallance.com and looking at every comic posted there.
