Fic recs, April 22nd: Jordan179 edition

Once again, though a good bit late, I bring it upon myself to memorialize an author via reviews of their stories. Though this time, it's different, as I had no connection to Jordan179 and only learned of his passing (three years ago this month, coincidentally), from this post

Another post about video games and Youtube and stuff

If I'm going to waste time watching shit on Youtube, the least I can do is tell people about it. :P

Ceave is a crazy Austrian with a love of video games and a head for philosophizing about them. Plus he really, really hates coins, no matter how tasty they may look.

Do you like video games? How about philosophy?

I like one of those things for sure, but no one combines the two better than a Youtuber named InfernalRamblings, a former professional game developer who now creates hour and a half long video essays about the meanings of video games and how they relate to the world today. Here's a few highlights, since this is now basically my only

I think the reasons are probably important. Patreon is probably a better way to shill than a blog post.

That said, I'm not sure how many people need proofreading services or what the best way would be to connect with them. :applejackunsure: Maybe mentioning it on the various Fimfiction Discord servers would help. I could provide you with an invite to the various groups.

Patreon's too much hassle, and I never felt like I could keep up with what I was promising people. This way, it's, well, probably more hassle, but hassle at my pace.

I'm not too worried about exposure. :B

Alas I have nothing under that wordcount I'd care to have reviewed, unless I wanna throw you at my Maud drabbles or clopfics. Still, good luck to you, hope this doesn't backfire horribly.

You've done a lot for the community over the years. I'll hit you up for proofreading. Hopefully my terrible attempts at horsewords don't send you into a raging fury. How long is your backlog, currently (that is to say, how long would it take you to get around to proofreading ~7000 words of manure)?

Oh, you don't hate Starlight, do you? :raritydespair:

Ah, the life of the poor starving writer. We're in it for the romantic aspect, right? ....right?

I'd join in but alas, I have nothing short enough to fall into your range. Except a couple writeoff entires I've yet to publish to FIMFiction because I'm lazystuck in a Bibliophile review week.

I'm not sure how many people need proofreading services...

Everyone who writes. Absolutely seriously; everyone!

4542914 Well, their name is Trick Question, after all...:raritywink:

That whole rounding down thing is a killer deal for people like me who write most of their stories between 1000 and 2000 words.

Of course I could also throw twenty dollars your way to review the twenty worst Evictus stories. I'm evil that way.

You realize if FuzzyFurvert weren't so po' ass broke right now he'd purposefully write you something horrible and have you read it? :rainbowlaugh:

8) Disclaimer: I do not guarantee that payment will result in a positive review.

Darn. I was just going to ask, "If $1/1000 words is the going rate for a review, what's the rate for a recommended review?"

Also, if I were less evil, I wouldn't mention that this setup lets you pay for reviews for stories you hate, so you can guarantee PP will never use his vote to induct them into RCL.

I'd be more than willing to throw some more of my money at you to help out, but I fear you've already read, reviewed, and at least liked the best of me that anyone'll ever see.

4543036
Wow. I just realized this is my opportunity to force PP to read some terrible horse words. :trollestia:

Don't tell Majin.

No, wait. Tell Majin! :pinkiecrazy:

So, I guess the first 35,000 words of Twilight's Secret Journal will work for starters. :pinkiehappy: :facehoof:

I don't let personal bias get in the way of making stories better.

4543305 Or a few bucks, to be sure. :raritywink: Alrighty. Since you're proofreading, not editing, I'm going to wait until I get the final edit pass done on it (he said he should have it done by tomorrow). Once that's done and I've made the necessary changes, I'll PM the link.

And to answer your previous question, it ain't long right now, jump in while you can! I'll get to things as they come to me, and try to do so as quickly as I can. :)

Don't fuck this up for everyone by making me read lots of horrible shit you know I'll hate.

But what about terrible, awful stuff that you might actually like, but maybe not? I'm talking about horrible, depraved stories about Fall of Equestria meeting Cupcakes and diaper-padded Spike in a dark alley and then having sloppy, phlegmy make-out sessions while a thinly-veiled meta reference OC of Blueshift merged with The Descendent whacks off in a neighboring toolshed?

And Twilestia in there somewhere. I guess in a graffiti mural produced by hip-hop Pinkie Pie, seeing as this is a seedy, darkened alley with an adjoining toolshed that's filled with semen.

Can I enlist a review of that?

Good stuff, Perfect! I WHOLLY approve of this service! You have the experience, panache, and creative chops to REALLY help amateur writers create something IRREFUTABLY INCREDIBLE!

I have the money to purchase said service myself, and am VERY interested. Except that I'm frightened beyond belief at what you'd submit in the end. Yannow... shame and all.

We'll talk when I eventually stop shaking. THIS IS AWESOME!

4543157 That's evil and now I am tempted to just pay to force him to read everything written by that one author who has nearly 200 stories in under 18 months.

It would only cost $218 for the entire thing. Less than that, actually, since almost all of them are between 1,000 and 2,000 words.

4543484
That author is banned at the moment. All of those fics are trollfics. Evictus knows how to write well, but they get off on pretending to be mentally retarded—even to the point of roleplaying somepony with cognitive disabilities in the comments thread of every story.

I can't say I see the appeal. It must be a sexual fetish or something.

EDIT: Now they're unbanned. It looks like they were forced to remove their recent Donald Trump story, apparently.

PresentPerfect should probably have specified that you can only make him read stories you yourself have written. But that doesn't make him safe from me! :trollestia:

4543503 True, it does not!

I'll definitely hit you up on this, likely on both the review and pre-reading fronts… assuming I can ever finish my story-in-progress, that is :ajsleepy:

4543446
...If that exists without you going and writing it right now...

4543503
Nope, it's any stories at all. But one at a time...

4543827
The problem here is that I actually want you to read good stories, and you've already read most of those.

Maybe pn0y though. :trollestia: I'll think on it.
